I would not use them again. They chipped a grandfather clock; it's about 200 years old.
Description of Work: They moved some stuff out of my ex-husband's house.

My realtor recommended them--said she could get me a reduced rate. They were late. They charge by the hour and a friend who was with me during the move said they charged me for a lot more time than they spent. I wasn't keeping track as I should have but in remembering when they arrived and when they finished the move, I believe she was right. They didn't bring the water hoses for my washer because they couldn't disconnect them by hand. /.,I had to buy new hoses. They broke my printer--physically broke it. My realtor told me they had insurance so I called and asked for a form to fill out to get compensation for my broken printer. They refused to reimburse me. Instead they said they would replace the printer. I had to call many times to get them even to do that. They would promise to bring it by and never show up--no phone call to let me know they weren't going to show up. Several times I changed my plans so I would be home and they never came. Then they brought a printer that didn't work. When I complained, I was told that work had interfered and that's why they didn't show up as promised. Obviously, they don't think satisfying customer claims is part of work. Obviously. their promises don't mean anything. The third printer was not like the one they broke but I was sick of dealing with them and accepted it. It didn't have a cartridge. They finally brought a cartridge. It took months. I had to call over a dozen times. They missed about that many appointments. Exasperated, I went and bought a new printer. These movers are totally unprofessional and unreliable. They cannot be trusted.
Description of Work: The young man in charge, maybe the owner, was Kerry Beard (not sure of the spelling). He and another young man moved me using a truck with no logo or other markings from an apartment to a house about two miles away. The move was just before Christmas. I don't remember exactly what I paid so I may be off on that.

Called about 1 week prior to move date we wanted and we were able to get a time within one day of what would have been ideal, but we waited too long and they had a larger move on the day that was our first choice. On the day of the move, they called about 1 hour prior to the scheduled time and we explained the two locations of the move. They worked with us to figure out the best way to get all the items moved from two locations into one in the most cost effective way. Between the two pickups they used the time we needed to get back to the new location with another pickup, so we did not need to pay for all the time between the cross town portion of the move. The owner and two assistants were constantly busy the whole time, they were courteous and good at what they did and heavy weights did not seem to slow them down. The minimum charge is for 2 hours and that is what was charged although I think that with the extra trip for the item we forgot, they were working for more than two hours. We were flexible with them in letting them use the time of the trip across town to pick up something else and so they were flexible with us in getting our move finished with the minimum charge. Everything was moved safely, no scratches and each item was put where we wanted it to be put. If we ever have anything to move across Lexington, we would definitely call Across Town Movers. The only reason the quality and professionalism scores were not A is that the truck and dress of the movers was not as professional looking as the cross country move we experienced last year.
Description of Work: Moving of large furniture and appliances from two locations in Lexington to a third location ( a home we had just purchased). One location involved moving a large couch, heavy hutch and a washer and dryer down stairs from a second floor apartment. The remainder of the furniture was from a two story condominium rental and included a king size bed, couch, table, freezer, bar-b-que and several other large items. We even forgot one item and they went back and got it and moved it also, with no extra charge.
