*******TWO LAWSUITS!!! - Consumer Be Ware - TWO LAWSUITS!!!******** In my opinion, Tony H. Karimi, Cardinal Nursery & Landscaping d.b.a (doing business as) My Pool and Patio (3001 KY-146, La Grange, Ky 40032. 502-222-0505 [*** Link removed ***] ) is a horrible contractor and one of the worst contractors I have ever seen. I contracted with Tony and his company to install a pool. The job was done with very poor craftsmanship and had mistake after mistake. There was never a “foreman” for the job that insured that anything was constructed/installed correctly i.e installed according to the manufacturer’s installation manuals or built to the customer’s requested specifications. Some of these installations errors are regarding safety concerns in a pool environment. I, the customer, had to catch all of the mistakes/errors. When these errors where brought to Tony H. Karimi and Chris S. Tackett’s attention, their response was we can correct it. The corrections then looked like repair jobs. The new construction ended up looking like one repair job after another. When this concern was brought to the attention of Tony H. Karmi, his answer was “it’s only cosmetic“. The pool ended up looking and performing no better than if a homeowner D.I.Y, with minimal craftsmanship experience, installed the pool. The dealings, construction and other legal issues regarding the contract were so horrible that I spent the time, effort and money (lots of money) to file a lawsuit/legal complaint against Tony H. Karimi and his company. The claim was filed in Oldham County Ky Circuit Court case number 17-CI-00400. During this process, I found out that another customer in Jefferson County Ky had a situation similar to my experience. They filed a legal complaint as well. The claim was filed in Jefferson County Ky Circuit Court case number 16-CI-004552. There has been TWO legal complaints, that I know of, filed against Tony and his company for these issues mentioned and so many other issues that’s are not mentioned. Trying to mention all the issues would make this review too lengthy. My opinion is that Tony H. Karimi does not tell the truth. This opinion is from his answers to questions in his deposition for the legal complaint I filed. I can support this opinion with all the facts I have. i.e. time dated communication, bills, checks etc. If Tony H. Karimi can give these answers under oath imagine what he will say in order to get a customer to sign a contact or continue with a job. I hope this review is helpful to everyone looking for a contractor and assist them in their decision in finding the right contractor to install a pool or any other project they are planning to have done. I wish that no one has to go through the ordeal that I and my family have endured with working with Tony H. Karimi and his company. I definitely DO NOT recommend signing a contact, doing any business of any sort with and STEERING CLEAR of Tony H. Karimi, Cardinal Nursery & Landscaping d.b.a (doing business as) My Pool and Patio (3001 KY-146, La Grange, Ky 40032. 502-222-0505, [*** Link removed ***] at all cost. Tree a year later is dying. Went to talk to them about it - it has a one year guarantee and I have never heard so many excuses and back peddling! Just amazing - I knew right away to leave - they couldn't have been bothered. Would never go there again and would never recommend to anyone. So unprofessional.

Description of Work: Met owner, Tony at the January Louisville home show in 2012. He came to discuss possible landscape plans including recommendations for a windbreak. We drove to his nursery, picked out 11 white pines (type that Tony recommended) and scheduled the install. The trees were installed by 2 workers on 3/16/12. I asked them what followup care I should provide and they said to get a bag of mulch for around the base of each tree, keeping the mulch away from the actual trunk of the trees. I asked about watering and they said that 'no' I should not need to water them unless we had a VERY dry summer. A few days later I did water the trees because it seemed wrong to me not to water in new plants. I put the mulch around the trees as instructed. I watered the trees once every 2 weeks when we got less than 1" of rain for that 2 week period. Then we got some rains. Not long afterwards, the trees began to turn brown and look sickly. I called the office and the owner's son, Shane, came out to check things out. He said that the trees that were turning brown were planted too deeply; that the crown of the trees should have been kept above the ground so that they would not get too much water. We had a good conversation that included Shane explaining that while the weather was dry, the fact that the crowns were too low didn't affect the trees, but that once we started getting more rain, the trees couldn't handle the water and were dying. He reminded me that the trees are guaranteed for one year but said I would have to pay for replanting any new trees. I told him that if the trees were planted wrong in the first place, I should not have to pay for replanting. He agreed and said that he would talk w/his dad about that. Said that they would wait until fall to replant so that we would know by then how many of the trees died. I called several times in the fall and was told that they would be replacing the trees at the correct time; not to worry, that I was on their list. I spoke w/Tony again in December. He told me that I would have to pay for replanting of the 7 trees that died. He denied that Shane had ever talked w/him about any errors in planting our trees and even after I encouraged him to do so, he reported that Shane denied ever telling me that the trees were planted incorrectly. I said that Shane was probably afraid to tell Tony about our conversation because he didn't want to get in trouble w/his dad. Tony asked me how I had watered the trees and I told him. He said that those trees should have been watered twice a week and implied that I had killed the trees by poor care. I told him that I knew white pines do not like too much water. I said that I thought he was trying to avoid doing the responsible thing but he insisted that I had to pay for replanting. I did, but Tony has lost his credibility and trust with us. The trees they brought are smaller than the ones we originally bought, not to mention the lost growth, so the grouping is not nearly as attractive as it was when the original trees were all alive.

The entire process ran for months and was a complete fiasco. - The fence was mismeasured, and not received for over 6 weeks - Once installed, it was determined that the length was still not correct, and it had to be dug up - While extracting the gate, an installer hit our electric line, and shocked himself (they did not mark off the power lines) - We were without power for two days, and Cardinal would not pay for the electrician - After the power was restored, they finished the job, being told specifically not to poor concrete directly on the new lines - A month later, power was lost again because they had poured concrete on the lines and it ate through - We were without power again, and had to have the electricians replace the wire Tony was difficult to deal with - he did not claim responsibility for the fact that the process took months to complete, that the gate was mismeasured twice, that they did not mark off the power lines and that they specifically disregarded the electrician's advice. Our job ended up costing close to $1000 extra in electrical and additional repairs.
Description of Work: We hired Cardinal Landscaping in the summer of 2011 to install two straight-line fences, landscape the area in front of the fences, and landscape in front of the house. The estimate was appx $1500.

The job went fine. They did the work as described or so I thought. The very first rain washed away all the dirt and top soil that I had paid to have placed. The Grading all washed away. After contacting Tony they agreed to come back out in March of 2009. They had excuse after excuse of vacation , too hot, too cold, too wet etc. I have over 10 emails from their office stating they would be out there to fix it. when they finally got someone out there, two men showed up with shovels. this is like 300' of drainage. The young men were frustrated after an hour and left. they said they would return. they have never come back. I have filed a report with the BBB. After I filed, they responded to the BBB and said they look forward to coming out and taking care of it. The claim was marked resolved, and they never came out. I refiled the claim in 1-2010 and they are now disputing it. I placed pictures, emails and the whole thread of interaction online at the BBB
Description of Work: I retained Cardinal Nursery in august of 2008 to repair a drainage problem accross the front and side of my yard. They were also to power seed my entire Acre of property. At the end of the job It was pointed out to Mr. Karimi that I did not believe that they powerseeded my propoerty as the work was patchy in only a few areas and I have pictures to show what was done and what was not completed. In addition, the first rain that came through it washed the soil away and I was right back where I started. When Questioned about this his response was that he did not guarantee this and that I completed this too late in the year. I hired this man as he was a professional. If there was a good chance that the work was being completed to late in the year he should have stated that and I would not have done it. He did contact me back and say he would take care of it. He sent out two men with shovels to fix it but after looking at the work the men left and said they would return and repair the problem. they have not done so and it has been at least 18 months. In every area that there are obvious power seeding, there grass or weeds that are growing are a complete different color than the grass I currently have growing. It looks terrible and the correct seed should have been placed.
