We called Mr Hoskins to give us a price and he came in march and my wife and i both changed jobs and called him again in october and gave him the paper of material price that he already gave us in march and he told us nothing will really change in price..... We wrote him $3,750 for all material. he worked one day and wanted $900 to pay his workers which we gave him also.We wanted french doors with blinds included he charged us $825 i seen the same door at lowes for $630 so i was ok with him making a little money on the door. Mr Hoskins would work a day and quit for a week and we would have to message him was he going to finish the job because cold weather was coming. he finally finished the deck and french doors in a about a month which is way to long. Where he cut the door out for the french doors above the door he made like 4 cuts into my sheet rock and never even finished that.. I had to go buy drywall mud and finish that job for him. The deck was awful. He used a nail gun to drive nails when any qualified carpenter knows to use screws on decks. i don't even think or it seems he didn't use a square because the boards are cut crooked and everything... just a sad job indeed. Well, i didnt fire him because he already had all of our material money and we waited, waited, waited and then in Jan he came and started to do from A frame roof with the deck in the front. well, guess what he did? he dug a few post holes and out the post in and quit and never came back to finish the job. we calculated he still had $1,600 of our money and get this........ he dictated what he should return to us. he added for the cost of nails which should have been in the material to begin with... he said we lied about the french doors and said we didnt ask for blinds inside the glass when we sure did. so he charged $200.00 for that LOL... well guess what? If we only wanted a plain set of french doors we could have went to lowes and got it for $400.00 he would have made 400% markup on that door. My god? So after he deducted everything which he shouldn't have he said i owe you $589.00 well he gave us $100.00 then a few weeks later he gave us $200 only after he said i should delete my last angieslist review before he gave the rest of the money. I deleted it and trusted him because he a suppose to be preacher... he gave us $200.00 then said the other $189.00 would come in 2-3 weeks. well after 3 weeks i called him and he said do whatever you need to and wouldn't pay the remaining balance... what about a christian not doing the job and keeping our money? i would never hire Mr hoskins ever again .. not even to build a dog house.... one thing is for sure and certain though. there will be a judgement day coming when he stands before god and what he did to us and even others... shame on you
Description of Work: I hired Mr Hoskins to put in french doors and build a 6x11 deck and also build an A frame roof and small deck on the front.

They built the deck than came bace to reinforce it to hold the hot tub. After about two weeks most of the nails that were used to hold the deck floor down are rusting. Discussed with contractor he was not going to replace them. They started on fence as they were digging for a post hole they hit some moisture from th septic system which its still wet by post. Than many parts on the fence were cracked while building the fence the contractor said he was not planning on replacing the wood they cracked. After much discussion they replaced most not all the cracked wood but the new nails came through the other side . The contractor just kinda laughed about that and he did hammer several not all the nails that stuck out down recking the look of the job. they never completed the job and left a hole in the one gate where my dogs got out of. LOL that was why we needed a fence. So I went to Lowes and purchased new wood and finished the gate. Than after several more weeks we noticed the deck sinking it now is off more than two degrees and has a big swale in it. Our friends shake their heads when they see it. Never use them again we were going to build a Pole Barn glad we did not hire then. Hope the hot tub does not end up on the ground.
Description of Work: Build a deck for our hot tub and a fence.

It was a lot easier than I thought thanks to the help of these men.
Description of Work: Harrison Hoskins and his son Tony, put a new shingle roof on my house. They were very helpful by letting me know what would be involved before they even started. Harrison gave me an estimate on the cost for materials (1,900.00) and the cost of labor. (1,100.00) before they done anything. They were excellent about keeping their work area clean, and when the job was done the yard was just like it was before they started. I highly recommend that if you have any need for a carpenter or roofer that you give them a call.
