Plumbers are not inexpensive nowadays, and I didn't have time to price-shop, but I was not overcharged on this. Fixing the toilet was an additional service for which many other plumbers would have charged.
Description of Work: When the water heater sprung a leak on a Friday afternoon, we called a contractor who was going to be doing some other work, and he recommended Mike Cooley at Commonwealth Plumbing. Knowing the weekend was coming up we didn't expect anything to be done until at least Monday or Tuesday. So we called, and Mike said he couldn't do anything Friday but would be over Monday morning. At about 8:30, he showed up, took a look at the water heater and told us we couldn't put in the same size heater we had without tearing out a wall; but since he owns the same type of house, he knew that he could get us a slimmer model with the same capacity, so off he went to get the new water heater. About 45 minutes later he returned, disconnected the old heater and took it out of the house, cleaned up the area and the water that was left, and began installing the new heater. His helper showed up about this time, and within about an hour after they arrived, the new heater was in. We also had a minor problem with the fill on one of the toilets, which he said he'd fix, charging only for parts. Mike and his helper were fast, efficient, and personable. When turning the water back on, there was a small leak in one of the supply lines, which he fixed within minutes. They were on their way by 11:30, and finally, after nearly 3 days without water, we were up and running. Frankly I had not expected the job to be done today at all, but it was. Even billing was a cinch with on-site credit card processing!

+ 1 moreThe price included the excavation and hammering through several feet of rock. The cost was jacked up because of that. It was an extreme circumstance. The original quote was very good but it went up when they had to hammer through 6 feet of rock.
Description of Work: I used Commonwealth Plumbing to connect us to the public sewer and they took us off the septic tank.
