Chimney Checkers

We checked Angie's List and called Chimney Checkers because they had an "A" grade, and at the top of the list.  We left a message with the company, and we were disappointed that 2 weeks later, no one had returned our call.  We called another company, who returned our call the next day, and we have an appointment with them this week for an inspection.  We thought it very unprofessional that no one from Chimney Checkers called us back.  Even if it were just to let us know that they were too busy to take new clients, a call would have been nice.  Needless to say, they lost our business for the inspection and any future business that we would have given them.

We called Chimney checkers based on Angie's list as well as a referral from another chimney sweep that did not clean wood inserts. The communication was good (they where running a bit late, but called us to let us know) clearly explained what they where going to do, and worked quickly (1.5 hours from arrival for service, clean up, and left) There was some confusion involving the price (we thought it was $140 for the chimney, and another $140 if the stove needed it, turned out to be $140 for the inspection, and another $140 for the chimney & stove together, but over all no big deal) They work was done thoroughly, with complete clean up, I would definitely hire again.

We burn our wood stove quite a bit to generate heat for the winter. We have an EnergyKing that is inserted into our existing brick fireplace. It works great, but we had been using it so much this winter and it is our first year using the stove that I wanted to make sure that the chimney and flue were clean and safe. I was referred to Chimney Checkers by another sweep that did not specialize in wood stoves. Joe was able to see us within a week of contacting him. But, he had to cancel the first appointment because of the weather. We were not in a hurry, so it was fine with me. He was able to come out a couple days later. When he first arrived and inspected the stove, he admitted he had not serviced one before and would need an associate to help him move the stove because it was so big. They rescheduled again for a couple days later. When they finally arrived, they conducted their inspection without incident and communicated to me that the chimney did not have enough build up to warrant a sweep and suggested waiting. I agreed and just paid him for the inspection. At this point I feel Joe was honest and straightforward with me and I feel confident in his expertise and service. I will continue using him as my sweep in the years to come.
