I have been in the construction industry for the last 35 years, except for my two year service in the U.S. Army. I am capable of many different disciplines within the industry, but I prefer electrical work, since that is what I was trained for in the mid 90's (including outstanding electrical apprentice for the class of 1998, IBEW Local 183-Lexington, KY.)
I am a small company employing no more than 2 people, so I am able to work closely with my customers, thereby making myself available to address any complaints directly.
I strictly follow the latest edition of the National Electric Code, and will not take shortcuts, regardless of a customer's wishes to do so. Safety ALWAYS comes first!
One advantage of being a small company is that I have a lower overhead than most of the larger contractors, so I am able to charge less per job. In addition, I am always looking for opportunities for "green" projects, which save money and energy.
I normally do not charge for estimates, unless the job is more than 40 miles from my location.
As for the other job categories, I will always try to price the job according to local rates, and deduct 10-15 per cent.
For most projects, I expect to be paid at the completion of the work, but for some larger projects, such as new home wiring or service upgrades, I will take a percentage up front and graduating percentages as the job progresses.
I am really excited about the new technology involving LED lighting fixtures, and look forward to implementing these type fixtures.
One more thing, I am a devout Christian, and I base my work principles upon the tenets described within the Holy Bible. If a customer has a problem with that, so be it. I make no apologies for my faith.
