Jim and his crew were on time. They did the job, cleaned up, and were on their way. I was so happy with their service I am looking to have them do more work for me.

We were happy with how easy the transaction was, estimate was fair and the work done was high quality. They took down a very large tree in our relatively small backyard and it was so clean and neat when I got home I didn't even realize they had been there. Nice job all around.

Jim, Steve and Chad were wonderful and did excellent high quality work through the design of the deck all the way to completion of the project. They were great to work with, incorporated my ideas and gave good suggestions for alternatives if needed. They were always on time and keep me informed throughout the project. They always cleaned up before they left. I had them come back this summer and cut down an 80 foot black locust tree in the back yard. Again the work was excellent, I could not even tell they were there. The clean up was awesome. They had to go into the neighbor's yard and she reported they were courteous and careful of her vegetable garden. I liked working with Jim, he always listened to my suggestions and checked up on how things were going. I would highly recommend them!!!

We asked for a patio underneath; we did not get what we asked for, but it worked (what they did). I guess they did it the way they wanted to do it. We just didn't like them. They did an excellent job on the wall but the grass has not been put back properly and we had to call them back to redo the grass because they tore it all up.

I've used Stegman Landscape and Tree many times before to trim an unruly Sugar Maple in the back yard but this is the first time I've had them do a major project. They were tasked with replacing a 50 foot stone and mortar retaining wall that was holding back the driveway and falling down. The wall was on the edge of a steep hill making the use of equipment difficult. They were also tasked with building a 40 foot retaining wall on the property line side of the driveway as well as replacing and widening a 90 foot asphalt driveway, front walk and steps with concrete. The workers were very professional and did a great job at removing the old material and cleaning up after themselves. I could not be there each day to oversee the work (it took several weeks to complete due to weather and scheduling) so there were small things done that I would have done differently had I been there to supervise. The walls are curved slightly at the ends and I think that was done to make them trail off into the hillside. The ends of the walls do not have corner blocks so there is an unfinished end block visible. This is easily fixed and not that big of a deal but noticeable. I would have also extended the driveway side wall about 4-5 feet so that there wasn't such an abrupt transition from the yard to the driveway. Yes this would have cost a little more in material and labor but the option was not offered to me. I am happy with the finished project and it looks 100% better than what was there. The minor issues I mentioned above are more of a communications problem between me and the workers so don't let that scare you off. The quality of their work is good and their prices are very reasonable. They are a family run business and their reputation is very good in the neighborhood. Their communication is probably their biggest downfall. They rarely answer the phone and it may take a day or two for them to return your call but they always do call. I think much of this is due to the fact that they have a ton of business. If you aren't in a hurry (which I would not suggest for any major project) and are very specific about your needs then Stegman's are a good choice.

After reading reviews on Angie's list I decided to call Stegman Landscape to get a quote on some yard work and possible pavers/drainage work. The older gentlemen who works for them (named Stegman) came out and promptly looked around the property snail mailing me his quote a few days later(Sept 12, 2012) However when I called the business soon thereafter to discuss the quote no one answered their phones on mobile or office so I left a message asking them to call me when they got back in the office. They did not call me for about a week. So I called them back leaving yet another message asking them to call. It took them 2 days to return that call also, knowing that it was someone waiting on them for work they already placed a bid withwho was eager to get it done as seeding season is now.. When he called me back (same older gentleman) he did not bother to have the proposal infront of him so he was unable to discuss it with me (poor planning...why call if you dont have your paperwork to refer to?) He said he would call me back later. So he called me back finally around 6pm and I had given up hope that he would by this point. He was rude and completely unprofessional. When I asked him about adding a 2-3 cubic yards of topsoil to a seeding job he doubled the price of the quote and told me he didn't really care if I wanted him to do the job (in so many words). When I told him I was unhappy with his professionalism he proceeded to cut me off and hang up on me. I'd encourage you to look elsewhere when looking for someone to work on your yard. I know I will have to now. He wasted a lot of my time. This guy needs to retire. It is clear he doesn't care about his customer.

I tend to be fairly demanding on follow-up and am a little disappointed that I have not heard back from Brian yet on Friday (estimate was on Wednesday) to confirm work, arrange payment and schedule the start time but am confident he will do so and stay within the promised time-frame. I will follow-up once its all done!

Did not use the service. Ended up using next-door-neighbor's recommendation instead.

They were very professional, precise, and communicated well. The price was good. Nice people.

I could not be happier with the work. Very professional , exceeded my expectations. The crew was very curtious and since this was a multi day job they cleaned up every night before they left. Also got to use the 10% coupon on Angieslist.

We liked the fact that he seemed to know what he was doing. He knew exactly what needed to be done. We had other people come and give us quote for the same project. His price was better and his approach was better in solving my problem than the others. He was going to do the work differently than the other guys. His had different methodology and ideas. He proposed different things and suggested the best thing to do.

Generally it went well. They called ahead when they were ready to start, they did the work in the required time frame. It sounds like they found the work to be more than originally estimated but they held to their price. The ONLY complaint I have is I would prefer there were no cigarette butts left behind in the yard. Otherwise perfect.
