2 service call visits and it still wasnt fixed. They were polite on phone but their services were not effective. They were talking about drilling and concrete. That was not necessary to fix the problem. I noticed in other reviews that they stress they are a Christian based family, I am a Christian also. I felt like I was being taken advantage of, especially when I hired another plumber that fixed the problem.

Unfortunately, I have to change my 5-star review. We had this company out on June 27th (3 days ago) to clear a clog in our main line, they were very nice and knowledgeable and seemed to do a good job. While they were here they ran their snake one time before it came unhinged and they had to manually pull it out. I would have liked it ran few a few times to make sure the line was unclogged but the one time they were able to do it seemed to work as we started getting some water flow. At the end of the day, we paid them $285 for about 5-10 minutes of work and it was an easy job (to which I did not complain and I gave them a 5-star review). Fast Foward to today (3 days later) basement flooded and drain clogged again. We called them back to take the next steps (pipe clearing or a camera line to figure out the problem) (even thought the problem very well could be the fact that the original pipe clear that we paid for didn't fully clear due to them only running the snake once) We called and said that we wanted to keep our business with them (a local Christian company) and that we needed to take the next steps to which they replied that we would have to pay the $285 again first for another pipe clear before they could even charge us the $250 for the camera line and whatever the cost of the repair. This did not sit well with me, I told them at roto rooter would have guaranteed the pipe clear for 6 months and Justin's reply was that that is a bad way to do business and that he isn't clearing the line again for free. I told him that this wasn't 6 months ago, it was 3 days ago and you were barely able to do the job due to your machine breaking. He said there was water flow and that we could sit here and Speculate that he only punched a tiny hole in the block but that he couldn't know for sure so he was charging me again. He then said that we declined a camera line at the time to which I replied " you said, and I quote'this doesn't need to be ran more than once because it seemed like a light block, I'm good at telling if it's something bad or not and this was an easy block' and then you said, 'unless you plan on staying here 15-20 years I wouldn't worry about a camera line, if this is your forever home then you might want to check out your pipes sometime down the road'" After some back and forth he said he would make a phone call to see if he could help us out and called back an hour later with a quote of $215 to do what they charged us to do 3 days ago.. then all the other costs. I told him that that is horrible business practice because they didn't do the job well on the 27th and we still called them to do the rest of the work, and that they would make plenty of money on the camera line and repair and they will already be out here (and lets be honest, it takes 5 minutes) So instead of making a lot of more money on us and keeping their good immage they will burn us over a pipe clear that should have been done right 3 days ago.. I will be taking my business elsewhere. To anyone else considering using their service, I would look elsewhere unless you want shotty equipment (he joked while he was here saying that this piece of crap was bought at a yard sale) and a company that will not value their work.

Awful. They took forever to set something up. When they finally told me they could come out they never told me anything about what they planned on doing to fix the problem. I thought they might lengthen the drainage pipe in our front yard but instead when I got home from work they were tearing up my small back yard and rerouting the pipe there. I repeatedly asked if having the pipe in the back was going to cause flooding because there was so much water coming out of the pipe and they assured me there would be no problems. Well that was an absolute load of crap. Within a week one entire side of our yard was useless. It was nothing but marsh and mud. When I called to tell them that they hadn't fixed the problem, only moved it from one location to the other, the only thing they offered to do was put the pipe back in its original position. I asked if they were going to refund any part of the $1600 we paid for them to fix the problem and they said no. Excuse me?! So we basically just paid these people to move a pipe around and cause more damage to our property. I told them to come out and rerout the pipe so that our yard would be usable again and it took them OVER 2 MONTHS to get out there and fix it. They didn't come out until I threatened legal action against them. So now the pipe is back in its original position. Problem not fixed and were out $1600. I'm so disappointed with this company and the amount of money we spent to have a problem NOT fixed that we are considering going to the attorney general or small claims court to try to recoup at least some of the money. I would never suggest these people to anyone. Just the opposite, I would tell them to steer clear of this company. They are unprofessional. Check out smith mechanical if you want an honest plumber who genuinely cares about fixing a problem, because the only thing Richardson will do is waist your time and cost you money.
Description of Work: They came to check out why we had a huge patch of ice accumulating in front of our home in the winter. Said our house may be taking in liquid from the neighboring yard and that they would come back when it was warmer to work on the project. Never said what they proposed to do to fix the problem though. Ultimately they put our drainage pipe in our back yard instead of the front.

It didn't go. Still waiting on my phone call.
Description of Work: I called on Monday morning and spoke with a nice lady to schedule an appointment for an estimate. The lady told me that she could have someone there at 3:30 pm to look at what I needed done. I took off work early to make sure that I was there to meet this person at the door. 3:30 came and went. I called at 3.40 to make sure I was still on the books and spoke with a guy who informed me that the secretary was out of the office and that things are kind of hectic when she isn't around. I let him know I had a 3:30 appointment and was checking to see when someone was going to be here. He told me to give him my number and that he would call me back shortly. Well 4:00 came and still no phone call so I called back and spoke with another guy. I went through the whole thing again as I stated earlier and he told me the same thing about when the secretary is out things are hectic. I explained to him what I needed for and he told me that he would give my name and number to another fellow who would call me back. Well 2 days later I am still waiting on that phone call. Maybe it will come someday.

Pretty bad from beginning to end. After the plumber showed up he argued with me for about 45 minutes about how difficult it would be for him to do the things I was asking him to do. Eventually I gave up on putting in a washer box with a drain but insisted he replace the main shut off coming into the house as it was leaking. (this he really did not want to do. So here's a rough breakdown of his time spent. - .75 hours arguing about what he didn't want to do - 1.5 hours doing actual work/ clean up - .5 hours sitting in his van in from of my house. So in total about 2.75 hours at my house. Then he came back in and billed me for 4 hours. For 1.5 hours of work! I understand there is travel time, and they bill in 1 hour increments. Fine. But I'm not paying you to try and talk me out of the service that I want to have done. Nor am I paying you to sit in your van for 30 minutes after the work is complete and you've completely cleaned up. They eventually refunded me an hour, but not until I went to the BBB and left several unreturned VM's. Along with the check they stated that they would no longer accept business from me.... HA! as if I would ever subject myself to that again. In total I still payed around $400 to have them sweat 5 fittings. That's only labor, I supplied all the parts.

The plumber initially came out to review my basement for installing everything for a half bath, wet bar and add a gas line for a free standing vent-less stove. After fully reviewing the work areas, he seemed confident that he could complete the job and advised he would touch base with me in a few days with a full estimate. I was contacted about a week later with an estimate totaling nearly $4000! Initially, I was wanting him to install a toilet with a pump to prevent from having my floor concrete busted up and to save a few bucks in labor. So, I posed the question "How much additional would it be to have a gravity fed toilet installed rather than a grinder toilet?" I was then told they would get back to me with an updated quote. That was almost a month ago and I still haven't heard back. I refuse to chase down a company for MY business. Another interesting note: The plumber also asked me if I was under a building permit. He seemed a bit disappointed that I was. It makes me wonder if he was planning on cutting some corners. Unreal how companies don't seem to want business in this area.

Below is a timeline of events. 1:15PM - Plumber says he arrived at my house 1:25-1:30PM - Plumber knocked on my door and we began ( I spent a few minutes explaining what I wanted done, same thing as I stated on the phone when I set up the appointment and again on the phone that morning) ( I then spent 20+ minutes convincing the plumber that I did indeed want him to do the work even though it was a "pain in the a**" as he put it. I finally convinced him to replace the shut off valve and replace the faucet. I could not convince him to put in the washer box as he kept giving me outrageous quotes saying it was too difficult, instead he cut the old valves off and soldered two new ones on.) 2:00PM - Plumber finally began working. ( I know this time because I called my wife at 2:03 to vent about the guy not wanting to do anything I asked him for) 2:30PM - Faucet & washer valves completed, began replacement of shut off valve 3:15PM - Shut off valve replaced, clean up, test/check completed. Plumber went out to his truck 3:35PM - Plumber came back into the house with a bill. Now when I received the bill I was shocked, here is a break down of the charges $65.00 - Charge just for him to come out. OK $375.00 - $125.00/ hr x 3 hours NOT OK All valves and faucet required were purchased and provided by me. The charges were for labor only. $440.00 - Total There was 1.25 hours of work completed. I should not be required to pay for the time I had to convince the plumber to do the work that I scheduled him out there to do. I should also not have to pay for the time that the plumber sat in his truck. I understand that they want to charge by the hour. I think 2 hours charge is reasonable, I do not think 3 hours charged for 1.25 hours of work is acceptable. I brought this up at the time of the billing, the plumber said he could quote it by job and made up some quote several hundred dollars more. I have emailed the company, called and left a VM, called and spoke to several people but no one can help me. The response I keep receiving is that I have to talk to the owner, I have called at specific times that I was told the owner would be available but still have not reached him. I have left my number for him to call me back, I have left my number in email, but I have never received a return phone call or any attempt by Richardson Plumbing to contact me back.

Companies that are run like Richardson Plumbing, LLC are why consumers need the protection of Angie's List. Since Richardson Plumbing is listed as an Angie's List member, and Jay Richardson seemed so friendly, I placed my trust and confidence in this company. On August 20, 2009, I paid a $3,500.00 deposit to Richardson Plumbing, LLC to perform contracted labor. Even though they began in a manner that was inconsistent with how I would have approached the projects involved, Jay Richardson informed me on 9/8/09 that all projects would be completed by Thursday 9/10/09 and requested that the balance owed be paid on on Wednesday, 9/9/09, as he was leaving town. On 9/10/09, two employees, John and Jason, got into a company truck in the early afternoon and drove away. No work proceeded on the premises for 10 days. As of today's date, 11/17/09, there still is not hot and cold running water in the house. This company uses subcontractors and there is no oversight or supervision by the company to determine if the jobs have been completed to the homeowner's specifications. Any questions are answered with a stock phrase, "That's entirely up to Jay." The kitchen countertop is the wrong size and was chipped by a Richardson employee during the installation. All product choices, including the the vinyl flooring, regarding color, style, material, type, or manufacturer were made by Jay Richardson without any consultaton with me. Shoddy workmanship includes an electrical wire that was stapled to the wall with copper plumbing hardware and a toilet that is now recessed because it was installed below the subfloor level. The toilet bowls do not empty when flushed, Richardson offered to dig up the line between the house and septic tank and replace two brand new toilets to troubleshoot the problem. There were multiple trips made to complete the electric baseboard heating project and the exhaust fan. The Richardson people all seem like nice people, but they do not seem to be that familiar with the work they are doing. I have held up my end of the bargain. I have paid them $16,000.00 for the projects listed and do not have reliable hot and cold running water in my house.I did not receive product warranties or user information for the new fixtures they installed , so I don't even know what type/wattage of lightbulbs to use in the bathroom fixture. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company, my only recourse it seems, until a 3rd party plumber I have hired makes a determination as to where the source of the plumbing issues lie. Employees smoke inside the house while on the job. Space here does not allow for all the details outlining my experience, but I would urge caution to anyone considering hiring this company for anything more complicated than clearing a clogged drain or changing washers in a faucet.
Description of Work: Enclosed covered rear porch, subfloor, removal of doors, drywall, electric baseboard heat, installation of glass block window, vinyl flooring, drywall and primer. Water lines, installed kitchen countertop, stainless steel sink and faucet. Installed 2 flush toilets, vanity & top, medicine cabinet, bath cabinet and light fixture above toilet. Installed exhaust fan, installed electric to fan w/ switch and bath sink w/ faucet. Repair basement door, move water heater, Cistern Clean & Seal - pump out water, pressure wash, install seal to walls, refill cistern, install check valve & fittings

Both Dan and Jason were very nice. Dan gave me the estimate on 8/11/09 and Jason did the work on 8/12/09. Both were prompt. My problem with the job is that I asked Dan to use Delta parts because my faucet is a Delta. Jason did not use Delta parts. When I mentioned the problem, he replaced the pop-up with a Delta pop-up but he did not replace any other parts with Delta parts. Jason was here from 11:30 to 12:30. I felt that the price was a little high for one hour's work and for non-Delta parts. Their estimates were $50 higher than competitors. I think their price was high. Their attempt to give me generic parts and their attitude was poor.
Description of Work: Supplied and installed new bathroom pop-up assembly in master bathroom. Replaced seats and springs in Delta faucet. Cleaned out P-trap under sink and glued trap to adaptor. Attached filter to faucet.

Earl immediately responded in less than 2 hours and confirmed what he thought to be true already - leaking due to a faulty water heater. I have since hired Richardson Plumbing to install a jacuzzi in a bathroom.

Called Richardson based on proximity to my house and a good Angies' List rating. Response was quick. They came first thing in the morning after my call the previous day. I thought the entire faucet was shot and would need replacement. But the tech was able to repair the faucet instead of replacing it, which saved some money. My only criticism is regarding the cost. They wouldn't give pricing over the phone without looking at the job, which is fine. But if I didn't have the work done after they looked at it then there would be a $45 charge. Bottom line: estimates are not free. I thought $140 was expensive for a faucet repair. But I didn't get competing quotes because of the $45 charge.
