I do not enjoy writing bad reviews, but my husband and I are very frustrated with how our situation was handled. Ray came out on Saturday and initially went downstairs to turn the water on to our sprinkler system. Once it was on, he went to our garage where the programmer is for our system and tested each region of our sprinklers to make sure they were all working. Everything appeared fine. Ray then left, without going back down to the basement to check the water line, etc (which my husband and I now know would have been an important step). We went down in our basement later that afternoon to find that water had been leaking and accumulating in our basement. It was leaking straight from our sprinkler water line and had been doing so all day from what we could tell since so much had accumulated. We turned the water off and called the office and left a message. I heard back Monday morning and they were able to get Ray to come back that coming Friday (today) to check out what happened. When talking with Kim, I wanted to make sure that since this issue was directly related to his first service call, that we would still be covered for the cost to have him come back out (answer basically was that it depended what additional work needed to be done on it, additional parts, etc - which makes sense). Ray came today and was here for about 15 minutes. He knew it was the backflow that was the issue and he said sometimes if you just clean it out quickly then that can resolve it. He took it apart and cleared all the water that was in there and put it back together. When he turned the water back on it was leaking even worse than before. He then said we need a new backflow and that would cost $350. We were not ready to commit to that since we had already paid $85 just to have Ray turn our system on that past Saturday. I said that we will need to hold off on that for now after talking with my husband. I then asked Ray if the 15 minute service call today was covered from our $85 we paid on Saturday and he said no. This is what really upset us. In my mind, the last thing he should have done after running the sprinkler system last Saturday was to go down in the basement and check the water line. Today, Ray told me that this is a very common issue -- if that is the case, then why would he not make it a habit to always check the backflow after he has actually uses the system when turning it on after winter? To us, he did not do his full job on Saturday and we should not have been at all responsible for the 15 minute call that he made to use today. I understand that they have a business to run, etc., but when our issue could have been realized on Saturday when he was here in the first place, I don't feel right paying for him to come back out when it was his responsibility in the first place. They were able to give us 50% off, so today's call was $25, which is not much - but to us, it is the principal of customer service and of client retention to have today's call complimentary since it could have easily been avoided. We of course paid for both of our calls, but they have lost a customer in us and we will find another company to replace our backflow and fulfill all of our future sprinkler needs.
Description of Work: Raynmaster came out last Saturday, May 10th. We are semi-new homeowners and we wanted to have a company come out to turn on our Sprinkler system, make sure everything was in working order, and teach me how to use our system. We were not happy with the service given to us.

My wife and I did not know anything about the sprinkler system that came with the house we bought (with the exception of how to turn it off). We asked Raynmaster to come out to winterize it and explain the system to us. Ray, the owner, patiently walked us through system operation and sprinkler head location while his partner cleared the lines. Overall we had a great experience. We have an issue with water leaking into the basement and plan to have Ray back in the Spring to help us "optimize" the system so water is only going where is should.

I called to schedule an irrigation winterization and repair service appointment and they fit me in the same day! Very fast, friendly and professional service! When the serviceman entered our home to turn off the sprinkler system water valve, he also removed his shoes (this made my wife very happy). I will definitely use Raynmaster again!
