I had Dave out for an estimate on a kitchen remodel - and the price he quoted me was about $8,000 less than Jim Carver and Sons quoted me.  So I went with him.  He told me it would be a 4-6 week project. The work crew showed up whenever they felt like it each day. I typically work from 8am - 5pm, but i made it a point to work from home a few days to supervise.  Somedays they showed up at 9, other days not until after lunch.  The really annoying part to me was that they often were working after 5pm, and on occasion tried to stay until after 9pm!  They had from 730am - 530pm to work, and not interrupt my life, but couldn't seem to get to work in the morninings.   I took a weeks vacation during the remodel, and took my dogs to the kennel, so they could have an entire week to lay the new tile floor.  When I returned after 7 days away, only 1 row of flooring had been laid.  I had to kennel my dogs for an additional week to accomodate the tiling, which cost me over $300.  Every part of the remodel took more time than I was told it would. The projected lasted 12 weeks - When he claimed he was 'finally done'  I noticed that the trim around the cabinets was missing on half of them, and he had punched a hole in my wall from the kitchen - and left if open in my dining room!!  I called him back to come and fix the issues, threating not to pay him the remaining balance. I was told he ran out of trim and was going to have to order more.  As for the hole in the wall, he patched it, but was not able to repair the wallpaper that he ruined.   He came back a week later to finish the trim work.  It was a horrible experience, but the kitchen at least looks good.  His prices are fair, but he does not communicate well, nor is he punctual.

He was timely, efficient, and did a great job. Online, it said that he offered senior discounts but he seemed uncomfortable with honoring the discount due to the economy, but we went with him anyway. He did a great job.

His estimate blew me away, so I joined Angie's List to check him out. Then I found out that he is the father of a friend of my daughter. He did an excellent job. He had helpful suggestions. The work was done very, very nicely in every detail. I was completedly pleased with everything he did. He's been in kithen design for a number of years. I had gotten an estimate from another company and it was almost $10,000. The original estimate from David was $4,700, so I added additional things that I wanted done. He also does handyman work, so I am going to have him do more things for me.
