 + -1 moreFirst visit to fix the air conditioner made the Air conditioner worse as then it didn't work at all. Second visit to fix the furnace did not fix the problem. Third visit fixed the furnace for a while but the old problem came back. Last contact was to get both problems fixed one last time and company never got back to me with any quotes or options.
Description of Work: Bought new home in 2001 with a furance and Air conditioner unit installed by Arronco Comfort Air. In 2010, July the Air conditioner wasn't cooling efficiently and I requested a check up and evaluation. They signed me up for a yearly contract and came out to look at the unit. They said the unit was originally placed too close to the deck and would have to be moved. They also said the cooling coils had a leak and all the R-22 freon leaked out and I needed a new furnace. I reminded them that they had installed the original unit and it was a Puron unit and not an R-22 Freon system. I asked about just fixing the leak or ordering a new coil which they said they could do but recommended that I buy a new furnace instead. I asked them to order just the coil and they said they would and it would come in in about 2 weeks at a cost of $1200 and if they installed the coils the freon would be replaced as well at that cost. They never ordered the coils and never got back to me and when I followed up they again said they would recommend a new furance instead. This took all summer to get to this point. I let it sit for the winter and contacted them again in the spring of 2011. They said they had all the notes from previous calls and would work with me to order a new furnace and Air Conditioner where the Air conditioner would be approximately $5,700 and the furnace would be $4,800 as nothing was still under the 10 year warrantee since new home construction was only given a 5 year warrantee. They said that with the government rebates the furnace would just about be for free. They also said if I still wanted just the coils it would now be $1,700 since you could no longer get the F-22 and the switch over to Puron was much more expensive. I reminded them that they had installed the original system and it was only 10 years old and was already a Puron system. At which time they claimed the cost would still be $1,700; almost 1/3rd increase over less than a year ago. I asked them to send me the quotes which they said they would do that day or the next. It has now been three weeks and I still have not recievded any quotes.

Description of Work: We used Arronco Comfort Air to do the annual maintenance of both the heating, air conditioning and humidifier. They inspected them and replaced the filters and cleaned up both units. It was annual preventative maintenance.

 + -1 moreWe found them on Angies List. We had got four different bids and theirs was the best. The customer service was very good. They were here when they said they would be and installed it in a driving rain storm, which was not easy for them to do. They got the work done very efficiently despite the weather. They cleaned up after themselves. I think that they did a very good job. We had an issue about some noise from the furnace and called them. The noise was due to some of the duct work vibrating when the furnace fan was running. Somebody came out the next day and fixed it.
Description of Work: Arronco Comfort Air removed our old furnace and old air conditioner and installed a new furnace and new air conditioner.

 + -1 moreIt turned out very well. I had several companies come out for bids, Arronco was considerably lower with the same quality equipment. They were very thorough and prompt in their installation. I had a few issues with the thermostat, they came out several times and repaired that issue. They were very prompt to answer my questions and resolve any issues. It is hybrid unit and they were several thousand dollars under anybody else.

 + -1 moreThey told me it was going to cost $450 just for the part and I told them I wanted to consider getting a new furnace. They just charged me for the service call. They sent out a salesperson to give me a quote and I wanted to get additional quotes. Their price was better than the other quote I got but they didn't give me a whole lot of information of what the different features were on the furnace. They were very straightforward and didn't discuss the measurements or size of the furnace.
Description of Work: Apronco came out two weeks ago and looked at my furnace. They came out the following week to give me a quote for a new furnace.

 + -1 moreIt took a little longer for them to start the work then the salesman initially told us, but he was not the person doing the work and the person drilling the holes in the ground was the rate limiting step. They dug the holes the end of November and completed the final install inside on 12/23 due to scheduling issues (theirs and ours). They had to put the system in the front yard, as the drilling rig could not get to the back (see pictures). The front yard contained a lot of obstacles (water line, gas line, electric line, cable, irrigation system) that they skillfully dug around, for the most part. When digging to run the lines into the house, they did hit the water line and had to replace a bent section, but the line was not broken, so no water was lost. When they were refilling the holes, they hit my neighbor's cable and he did not have cable access for 3 days since it was over a weekend. Those were the only outside problems. Inside, two of the registers were really noisy when the system was first installed. They came back and installed insulated ducting that fixed the problem. Now the system is very quiet and efficient. It made an unbelievable difference compared to the gas furnace. Our house has 3 stories with the thermostat on the middle floor. With the gas furnace, the upstairs rooms would be 5-10 degrees cooler and the bottom floor 5-10 degrees warmer than the middle floor rooms. With geothermal, all of the rooms in the house are the same temperature within 1 or 2 degrees. The comfort level is amazing!
Description of Work: They installed geothermal heating & A/C along with a new water heater designed to work with the geothermal desuperheater in my house that was 19 years old. This system replaced a gas furnace and A/C that was original to the house. They had to drill 3 250 foot vertical holes to run the pipe in, along with trenching the pipe into the house.

It was completed in one and one half days. The workers were friendly and professional. They minimized the dirty generated by a large intrinsically dirty job and cleaned up after their work. I had questions after the installation regarding rebates that we were eligible for and had difficulty getting a response from our salesperson. On the message to him, I let him know it was my third call, and that I had no intention of paying the invoice until I got some answers to my questions. I did get a prompt response then. I just wish I didn't have to get slightly nasty to get his attention. I did call him again with a minor question, he said he would get back to me, but he didn't. It wasn't that important, so I am not pursuing it. I'll just let anyone who asks no to use the particular salesperson. Maybe they would have better luck with someone else. I was very happy with the price and installation. The system seems to be working OK, but since we haven't really needed to use the AC yet, I can't really judge that.

 + -1 moreWe were very pleased with the sales and service from Arronco. We solicited bids from four heating contractors. Of those four, only two followed up with us after providing a quotation. Only those two companies informed me of a new Duke Energy rebate program which was only announced after their in-home visits and which would qualify us for $400 back on our system. Arronco was one of those companies. Arronco's quote was also one of the lowest. Brad McAtee, the sales rep, was very responsive to questions and did not oversell add-ons or upgrades. Before the installation, an Arronco representative stopped out to make detailed measurements so they would have all of the equipment/parts necessary on the day of the installation. The installation took 1.5 days and went smoothly. The installers were on time, professional, knowledgeable and cleaned up after themselves. It has been 1 month since the installation and the system has operating as advertised. We are completely satisfied.
Description of Work: Arronco installed a new 95% efficient gas furnace and 15 SEER air conditioner, both Bryant models, replacing existing equipment. They connected the new furnace to existing return and supply ductwork. We asked them to move the location of the A/C unit which necessitated some electrical work, new copper tubing and installation of a new pad for the outdoor A/C unit. The new furnace brings in outside air for combustion and vents the exhaust through PVC pipe instead of the old flue. Arronco capped off the old flue and installed the new PVC piping. The unit was equipped with a whole house humidifier and a 4" media filter. A new thermostat/humidistat controller was also included.

Removed old unit and installed new unit. Were always available when needed. Building inspector required change in exhaust piping for existing hot water tank that was exiting through new addition.
