Contractor was hired by the seller of our house to fix an area around our front door that had been damaged by water. Due to tenants being in the house the contractor could not complete the work until they were out. We agreed to close on the house and have him complete the work once the house was vacant. I was hesitant to agree to this but we felt compassion for the seller of our house. Once the renters were out the contractor responded pretty quickly, he had a gentleman over 2 days later. During the time that he was in our house working on this front door area we were in and out moving some of our furniture into the house. Around lunch I met the gentleman and spoke to him for a few minutes, but had to get back to work. When I arrived at home I found that there was putty around the area, but that it had not been sanded well, and no paint was applied. That night we noticed that one of the kitchen chairs had putty all over it. The gentleman working on the front door had not brought a step ladder, so instead he used our kitchen chair. It had putty on it, and did not appear to be cleaned at all. The next morning I called the Mark and told him what had happened and told him that we would prefer not to have anyone else back over to attempt to finish the job, and that we would just do it ourselves. In his defense he told me that they had planned on finding paint to match the area and would clean the chair, but I declined to take him up on his offer.
