Blair removed the electric meter to make the panel safe to work on and removed the main breaker and inspected it and cleaned the contacts and inspected the wiring but could really find no fault with the breaker or anything else. He did advise to discontinue running the dryer during the excessive heat and run it when demand was lower. He stated my particuler panel and breakers were obsolete and if I chose to change out the main breaker I would have to change out the entire panel, a massive and expensive undertaking. He further advised since the breaker had not yet "tripped" it was relatively safe to use but I would probably need to plan on changing the entire panel at some point.
Description of Work: My electric service panel "main" breaker was overheating. It was hot enough I could not keep my hand on it. I was concerned about the potential for fire as we had three air conditioners and the electric dryer running at the same time. Outside temperature was unusually high for KY in the neighborhood of 105 F or so. I called an electric service and requested an electrician be sent but never received a callback. Next day I called again but still no callback. I then checked the yellow pages again and called next on the list. Bobby Blair answered and said the breaker overheating was not a good sign and immediately came to check it.
