WORST TRASH COMPANY I HAVE EVER USED, TONS OF HIDDEN FEES AND CHARGES YOU A CRAZY AMOUNT IF YOU MOVE OR END SERVICES. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS GOD AWFUL AS WELL. STAY FAR FAR AWAY!

Description of Work: I had a billing issue with them when their web site was down. Tried to make a payment on line and over the phone as well. When I finally got to talk to a live person, she treated me as if I was being dishonest. I had had Waste Management for years and had never had a problem before this. I am now with Waste Connections and have been very pleased.

Description of Work: Their pickup timing is not consistent from one week to the next. Occasionally we get missed but it's not always their fault. I just feel like the cost could be better. We've been paying for the service a year at a time (a couple years now), but I'm beginning to think it's not worth it. So I've been looking at other providers so we can make an informed decision the next time it's time to pay for the service. Seriously thinking about switching to paying quarterly.

In July 2013 I moved from one part of the city to a new house in Wichita. Prior to my move I made sure to contact all utilities and services to switch to my new address. WM was one of those services. Around Labor day I noticed my trash was not picked up. I thought nothing of it, that I must have missed the scheduled holiday date. The next week, again no pickup. I called WM to find out why and they stated I had not paid my bill and the disconnected service. Since transferring my services I explained to them I had not received a bill via US MAIL at my old address or new address or in my email. They then said they had also sent notices of termination, which again I said I had not received, and I asked for copies of the notices. They said they can't provide copies! Then I asked why they did not contact me via telephone? They stated they tried but were unable to reach me. I only have a cell phone and have incoming call records, there were no attempts to my number ever! So I asked my husband that evening if her received notice, and he said no. It was a very busy time in my life and I had piles of trash and recycle piling up so I made the stupid decision to pay the balance I owed them and get the service going again. Shortly after that, I received a bill from them charging me a reconnection fee of $40. I WAS FURIOUS! I called them and spoke with two managers, neither of whom would refund the charge. The rep I originally spoke with should have at least informed me that the charge would be applied in the next bill when I paid my balance. SHE DID NOT. If they had told me that upfront when I tried to right their clerical problems I would have told them then and there to GET LOST! So I finally got rid of this deplorable company and found a local vendor who was courteous considerate, and professional. Oh and about 9 dollars cheaper per Quarter. Do yourself a huge favor and NEVER hire these guys. They are dirty and not local and will try to stick it to you at ever turn.

Description of Work: Continued to set empty trash contain in my driveway so I would have to get out and move when I came home in order to get into my driveway. Often left items in trash containers. Rude drivers.

I previously used a local company Lies Trash but they were bought out by WM. Lies had a negotiated neighborhood price that WM does not honor. The price gets jacked up every other billing cycle. The first time I called they said they didn't know what neighborhood I was in (????) but adjusted the price. A few months later they raised the price again so I called back and the rep said nothing she could do. I asked for a supervisor who said they had no obligation to honor rates and basically said suck it. Now they also charge a permanent fuel surcharge. Today they left half the yard bags behind. I called yet again and was informed that my bag limit is half of what it has been for 7 years but denied having made any change. They expect me to not be able to remember all the way back to last week. Then they denied that there is a neighborhood rate - OR EVER HAS BEEN! According to their "records" my neighborhood does not exist! On a side note, they also routinely mail me postcards to tell me they have no email address on file even though I pay online & they use email address as my account ID, and ask me to confirm email every time I log in. I'm shopping for a new locally owned service.

I requested my trash service to be cancelled at one location and moved to another on a specific date. I was told this was not a problem and that the transition would be seamless. However three months later I paid two more trash invoices and realized I was being charged incorrectly and that my previous account had not been closed. Nearly 9 months later and six or seven conversations later, waste management continued to inaccurately document the transition of service. Every representative promised me the account details would be sorted out and the problem had been resolved. However this was not true. I could not access my new account online, they wanted me to start a new email address just so that I could register the new account because their online system would not allow transfer of service using the same email address. So I cannot pay my bill online, phone payments include a five dollar surcharge, my only method left for payment would be by check. Therefore I will be canceling my service. WM so "generously" decided to accept my final payment over the phone minus the five dollar surcharge. I will not be using this service again. The customer really isn't the customer, the customer is serving the company. Oh and within that nine months they took my trash bin away for one month stating it was my fault for this occurring, and then proceeded to charge me monthly fees for lack of payment. However, I had paid them over $140 in trash service, for which the services had yet to be rendered.

Waste Management called before Thanksgiving and Christmas to tell us that Thursday service would be changed to Friday because of the holidays. But we forgot the change and requested a special pick-up. They said that the trash would be picked up on Monday. The collectors came on Saturday instead. Since we missed the pick-up our trash was not picked up until the following week. |The cost of the special was $60.00. But we figured that since it was our mistake about missing the special pick-up, we were lucky to get the trash picked up at all.

The service has not increased, although the cost has gone up over 40%. One explanation was that gas prices effected the increases when it got to nearly $4.00 per gallon years ago, then gas prices went down and service price went up again. To stop service would cost me $15.00 for them to pick up their container. Think it would be worth the savings to switch service to another company.

Once they missed a pick up I called WM and they informed me that service had been suspended do to lack of payment. I informed them that i had not received any bill or cancellation notice. WM merely kept repeating they had mailed it. Then they stated they had emailed it. Then they stated someone tried to call me but their message was not returned. I aslked to get copies of these bills and notices and they stated they could not because they had already been sent. Ok , let me tell you, I have never missed a payment with them and had always been a good customer. I askesd for a supervisor, whom i thought would be of some help. The Supervisor informed me to start service I had to catch up the account, which I did. A few days later I receive another Bill from them with a 40.00 reconection fee. What a CROCK! Again I called them and no one would listen or help. Then on my actually service bill I see they added a 5 dollar late payment fee. So basically they charged me another 45 dollars for my service for their inability to send me a notice or a bill and were unwilling to provde proof of such notices. When my service is up at the endo of the year I WILL NOT KEEP THESE THIEVES!
Description of Work: We moved recently and transferred our service to our new home with WM. They took the new address and said the new service would start the week of our move. We did not recieve a bill or a notice that our service for the next quarter was due. I have signed up for their email notifications and never recieved a notice. WM terminated our service without any call, notice or letter stating they were doing so.

They make a practice of buying out smaller providers. They partner with cities to become the only provider of that city. They take away any choice. Once they do that, they raise the price.

I contacted them and got nowhere. You pay more for trying to do the recycle thing, so the harder you try, the more you pay
Description of Work: Trash service, the service was ok, but I paid more than people in nicer neighborhoods. Meaning if you are a lower income you are penalized for that, I will be changing service before the next billing period.

They're not lenient at all. They never work with people. They're like it is what it is. I just have the basic services but I find it's expensive. With the previous company, if for whatever reason you forgot to take out your garbage, I would call them back and they'd get your location and say, "We can't guarantee that we'll be there tomorrow but whenever we're in the area, we'll get to you. " For the most part, they would have a lot of stuff in my neighbors two or three blocks away from me and they would pick it up without a charge. These guys don't. They automatically charge you 30 dollars for them to do it so if you forgot, that's your problem. They're very weird about how they charge you because I think they only give six bags. They're very strict. They're kinda monopolizing the city so they have no competition and that's probably why they're not being lenient with anybody. For the price we're paying, we should be able to have recycling services. They're always here at 5 in the morning.

Service was excellent. The only problem encountered is when you have a business account and an household account with this company and one of the accounts falls behind in payments, then both accounts are suspended.
