First of all, Mr. Schauf responded to my call, arrived at the designated time to evaluate the job, and gave me the estimate in a timely manner. He took the time to explain the estimate in detail as well as informing me it may end up being less if the job took less time than anticipated. This is a 120 year-old house, and there was the possibility of more damage than was obvious, so he gave me the worst case scenario on his bid. Mr. Schauf also provided me with a certificate of insurance, which was important to me due to the risky nature of this work. The day the work was to begin he arrived with his workers at the exact designated time. They did not fool around. The work proceeded at a nice clip, and they did not even break for lunch. I was so pleased with their attitude of caring about their work and doing a thorough job. In my opinion they did not cut corners. The job was finished ahead of schedule and MY BILL REFLECTED THAT! It was very refreshing to see his initial statement about the cost potentially being less followed through upon. Overall, my experience with Mr Schauf was so gratifying that I joined Angies List for the sole purpose of writing this review. I feel so lucky because I just picked his name out of the phone book and crossed my fingers. However, my initial interactions with him gave me confidence in his reliability. I also discovered he has been involved in some significant masonry restoration work in town with churches and WSU.
