Service man found the problem on first visit. We debated replacing unit, but decided to repair instead. They ordered the parts and returned a few days later. The friendly service man did his magic and now the machine is working like new. We have used Rick's over and over again and never hesitate to recommend them to others.

They suck because they did nothing but take my money.
Description of Work: They charged me a $100 to tell me I needed a new part to repair my refrigerator and demanded part cost money up front. A day later they refunded the part cost but didn't tell me. A week later I noticed the part credit on my bank account. I called them and they said the part was no longer available so I was out of luck. All the tech did was look inside the fridge and say a part was bad without doing anything else. They took $100 from for nothing, They suck.

Awful. Rick's Appliance was mandated by the extended warranty from Warrantech. The whole process has been a fiasco. The "service provider" who came was arrogant and uninterested in my explanation of the history and repairs previously performed on this machine. After contacting Warrantech, he told me the extended warranty had expired (which was incorrect) and Rick's would speak with a manager from Warrantech the next day. No service provided, no return call from Rick's or Warrantech to resolve this, and 8 days later we still have a leaking washing machine. Moral to this story: Never desk with Rick's or buy an extended warranty.

I will now pay more to go anywhere else besides. In August 2015 we had to have Rick's Appliance come out to repair a Freon leak in our Whirlpool Refrigerator (Model: W10307054A, which I also will never purchase a Whirlpool appliance ever again). Kim came out while I was at work and my wife was home. After several hours of working on the refrigerator he determined there was a Freon leak and he would have to order parts and come back to fix it. Not only was Kim short with my wife, he was condescending and made her feel like incredibly ignorant with each question he asked. Feel free to make me feel stupid, but when you make my wife feel dumb, that's where I draw the line. They fixed it, $600+ later, and we moved on with our lives with the understanding we would certainly never use Rick's Appliance again if we ever had to. Fast forward 9 months to May of 2016. Our refrigerator's freezer stops freezing. We call Affordable Appliance in Wichita, who I would recommend to anyone! They were courteous, educated us on all of the questions I had, and were very accommodating. They defrosted our freezer and we thought everything was good. It was for a while anyway. A couple months later we had the same issue of our freezer not freezing so we called them back. When AA came back, they determined there was a Freon leak. They could have repaired our refrigerator but directed us to Whirlpool to get the refrigerator repaired under warranty because it had been less than one year. So I contact Whirlpool and they said they would direct me to the only "authorized repair company" in Wichita, Rick's Appliance. Great... Low and behold they send out a repair person. And guess who it is! Kim! The same condescending "professional" who "fixed" our refrigerator a year ago. The worst part of it all? Now Rick's Appliance won't even submit the refrigerator for warranty because they said "you called 3 days after the one year warranty expired." DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHY I CALLED 3 DAYS AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED!? Because your service was so remarkably terrible I swore I would never use you again. Now I'm FORCED to use you again. Over $600 , again. Now this $1,700 refrigerator has had nearly $1,300 put into it in 2.5 years of life. I will absolutely never purchase another Whirlpool product again and I will write another formal complaint to Whirlpool requesting them to drop you as their only "authorized repair" company in Wichita because of your lack of flexibility with your customers and the condescending attitude of your repair technicians. You know what Whirlpool tells me? "We can send you pricing on another Whirlpool refrigerator." Why in the heck would I want another awful product of yours!? We've put over $1,300 into a $1,700 refrigerator in just 2.5 years. Are you kidding me? Buy another product of yours? Are you delusional? I might consider a free extended warranty from you. But what do you up yourself and do? You send me a letter saying we can purchase an extended warranty for another $600! LOL Are you kidding me!? That's customer service to you people? We manufacture products that break down twice in 2.5 years. But you can buy an extended warranty for a product that isn't going to work. A remarkably awful business plan if you ask me. I plan on sharing my experience with as many people as possible.

They never showed up. They had our address down wrong, had never called to confirm the appointment in the first place, and only called after they realized they had the wrong address. When they called, it was to a number where no one was there, because we were waiting for them already. When my husband called to find out whether they were planning to come out still today, they argued with him for 15 minutes about the issue. We're going with someone else. Who needs that kind of bad customer service?

Rick's was very quick to schedule my appointment. Called on 9-8-15 and they showed up on 9-9-15 in the morning. They called to advise me they were coming and I asked if I could take an extra 30 minutes to meet them at the house and the repair guy said he would wait for me and he did. After getting the gas line replaced he diagnosed the problem I was having and checked on available parts to fix the stove. Found out that they quit making parts for this stove back in 2009. This meant that he could not fix my problem. I will probably have to buy a new stove. I guess more than 20 years of service for a stove isn't to bad. I didn't like the labor charge of $60 for about 30 to 45 minutes of work.
Description of Work: Installed new gas line then diagnosed needed repairs for free standing gas stove.

Placed the first call and gave the details of our 5 year old dishwasher. Was advised before they set up a service call to call GE and verify if there was any warranty left on the dishwasher as it was "high end." Called GE and verified that only the stainless steel tub and door was covered. Called Rick's back to discuss the service call...we are pretty sure based on troubleshooting that it's a water inlet valve. They told me it would be $85 for a visit, they would then order parts, and then it would be $120 an hour after that. I asked if they could tell me if this was a standard part they would have on their truck? They could not. I asked if I ordered the potential problematic parts on-line (less than $20) if they could install during the first visit. They could not. I expressed concern that this would be two times for me to take off work and $200, and was there anything we could do to work through that. No answer....crickets....dead silence. Unhelpful and inefficient. Will not be calling these guys again.

I first tried to set up an appointment online from their website but I didn't get a response and had to call them. A service call was set up for a 4 hour window and the technician showed up on time. When he arrived and came to the door he didn't introduce himself or tell me why he was here and was very unprofessional. Not once did he speak unless spoken to and was the most unfriendly technician I've ever used. The repair required a new circuit board which had to be ordered for a total cost of $240.00. When I asked about a senior, Angie's List or military discount I was told no, none are offered. After the technician left I called Rick's Appliances and filed a telephone complaint with the service desk and told them that I didn't like that technician and that if they sent him out to replace the part I would refuse to allow him to do it. The service desk apologized and promised that a different technician would be sent out next time. With no discounts of any kind they're expensive too. While Rick's Appliances has an A rating and other customers are quite happy with their service I'm not happy nor satisfied. Overall I gave then a F rating and once this repair is complete I'll never use them again. Future customers beware Rick's is not what they appear to be. Call a different repair service or you may be sorry.

A month earlier they had come to fix knob on washing machine and same problem occured again, they ordered part but when came it was the casing of washer that held knob to turn and start the machine that had a piece broken on it so waited another week for part. Wished they had noticed the piece was broken or cracked on first visit.

It was the worst expereince we have had with a service provider in Wichita. We had them come out to fix three things at one time and they charged us a trip charge for each item. When I called them to discuss the matter they unaplogetically told me that was the way they have done business for 43 years and will continue to do business. I also informed them that their explanation of charges on the back of the invoices said nothing regarding this policy NOR did the scheduling tech inform me of this policy. We will never have them out to our home again

Our serviceman arrived on schedule and listened to the description of the problem. He was very friendly and went right to work. This involved removing the freezer drawer, defrosting the ice, working on the problem in the freezer and in the rear of the fridge. He showed me what happened and why and what he did to fix it. He was very knowledgeable about this model (it has a history of this very problem) and told me how keep it from happening quite so often. When he left there was no evidence that he had been here. All clean and a dry floor! I have used Rick's Appliance Repair for many years (20 or so) and have always been very satisfied with their work. They are always there when they say, know what they are doing, and fix it right. I do not price shop any more because I know they are honest, reliable and do quality work. They get all A's from me.
Description of Work: We have had a continual slow leak from the bottom of our French door fridge that we kept putting off. We also had an ice build up in the bottom floor of the freezer and could not tell where the water was coming from.

Quick response and professional job. I'll share some of his remarks:- don't wash the dishes before putting them in the machine. Blame my mother. - use a powder - recommended new Quantum. I'm gonna try it.
Description of Work: Had a leaky dishwasher this morning. Rick's Appliance tech Eric came out right after lunch - pretty quick response. I got a very good primer on dishwasher operation and what I hope will be good advice on getting the most out of the machine in the future. He diagnosed the problem as too much soap and that seems to be have been the problem since the problem did not reappear when we recycled the wash.I rated the price a B but to tell you the truth, all it was a $72 service charge and that is not out of line for an hour of his time. Overall, very happy with the service.

Very accommodating in setting appointment. Service tech arrived as scheduled. Found fridge could not be fixed but checked on original warranty and determined was placed in service 5 years and 3 months ago on a 5 year warranty! Advised as to what to look for on new purchase.
