Did not use this company as apparently they weren't really interested in giving us a bid to see if we would utilize their services.
Description of Work: We were contacted by Renewal by Andersen as a follow up to a Home Show drawing. We agreed that they could come and give us a bid for four windows. The sales person arrived on time and was very personable and knowledgeable about his product. I made it clear that we would not sign a contract on that day as we wanted to get other bids. He insisted he had to measure all of our windows even though we only wanted to replace four. He was at our home for over two hours. When it came time to give us a bid, he had trouble with his computer and said he couldn't print it out for us and would have to get somebody to help him. We never saw or heard from him again. A week later on a Monday morning, we got a call from Renewal asking what we thought of our bid and I told the caller that we still had no idea how much the windows were.so I couldn't tell him anything. He apologized profusely and said he would check into it and get back to us by the end of week, but hopefully by that same Monday afternoon. That was two and a 1/2 weeks ago and still have not received a bid from them. I feel we wasted two hours of our time and frankly, if they contacted us now, I just wouldn't trust doing business with this company. There are too many other options available to the consumer for window replacement.

They made it a point to have both myself and my wife be there for the appointment. We both took off work to make sure we were there. 45 mins after they were supposed to arrive (without a call) I called. They lady I spoke to seemed like she didn't really want to be there and was very unhelpful. She hung up on me once. I asked if the person was coming out? She said there was a bigger shop that popped up and they wouldn't make it out that day. She asked if we wanted to reschedule. The first appointment was 2 and a half weeks away after we already waited a few weeks. We said no. Then a few days later someone called me and said that no one was home when the person came out at our scheduled time. I just laughed and told the guy what really happened. He said that I must have been mistaken because his person wrote a report. So.... he called me a liar. If this is the first impression of the company I get, I will stay as far away from this company as possible.
Description of Work: Replace 15 windows in house.

Everything went fine except that after the windows were installed my wife was not satisfied with the quality of the windows. We contacted the sales agent and he came out and took a some photos and said he would submit them to the factory and get back with us. That was over three weeks ago and still no response. Looking back I think we should have looked at other providers and had other bids as the cost for replacement is high. On the plus side the windows were installed promptly and when promised, but I wonder if we ever need warranty work if we'll get a run around. Also when we first looked at this company we went to there Wichita location but you can only get information on the product from a home sales visit. I did not feel pressured to but at the visit but looking back I think we should have explored other options which would have included a visit to a provider that gave information at a store location vs a home visit. I shared the information about the follow-up in a survey that Anderson sent out, but I never heard from that either.

Upon reflection with my sales associate, he explained that it was the “quality of the appearance” that was the issue. To clarify that topic, we have all of our associates carry actual samples into the home so homeowners see the exact product that will be installed in their home. In addition, we have samples in our showroom and lots of information to share with customers, and invite the public to come in anytime during our store hours, which are 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8:00-11:00 a.m. Saturdays. Typically, there is an associate there to answer any questions a consumer would have as well as share brochures and show our products. I’m sorry your wife was not happy with the appearance of the product. I can’t recall that ever being an issue in the past as Renewal by Andersen and Andersen have always been know to have a very aesthetically pleasing product. As to the warranty, Andersen has been in business and servicing their customers since 1903 and will continue to do so should you ever have a warranty concern, don’t hesitate to call. We appreciate your feedback!

Work was to take 3 days and started the 13 or 14th of December of 2011. From there it was a nightmare and 5 and1/2 months later we finally get the job done . Enough said! Very expensive leason learned!!!!!!

Unfortunately Murphy’s law prevailed on this job, whatever could go wrong did. We felt so bad about how things progressed we actually re-trimmed all of the windows on the main floor, and stained the new trim and even repainted many areas, all at NO COST to the homeowners. The long time frame was primarily an issue of returning to do these things at the homeowners convenience so they weren’t missing any work during the process. At the end of the job we even professionally cleaned the homeowners carpets. We work in a business where as humans we have good and bad days, as a company if we have a bad day, we go above and beyond as displayed on this job to attempt to make the situation a great one at the end of the job. We are currently in the top 15% nationally out of 106 Renewal by Andersen store with regards to homeowner satisfaction at 94%. That 94% who have graded us a 9 or 10 on the following question “How likely would you be to recommend Renewal by Andersen to friends and neighbors?” 9’s and 10’s don’t come easy, and our team prides itself in being among the best of the best in the entire U.S. The entire team is disturbed when we receive a review such as this and we are always looking to learn continually make improvements to provide world class service.

The job went great! The installers were always on time and were very professional. The job took two days and looks Great!I am very pleased with the windows and Highly recommend Renewal By Anderson. Keith our Rep from Anderson was there to inspect the job and progress before, during and after the job. The windows and Door look great and have made huge difference in our utility costs.

I had asked for an estimate and felt pressured to decide right away. Windows are really inserts as they do not replace all of the window. Windows are overpriced for product. I do not like how they look from the outside. They are good inside.

They are overpriced. Installation was less than desirable on one of the windows and they had to disconnect some cables and they refused to reinstall those.

I am surprised and disappointed by this report of an overall grade of a “C”. We are consistently among the highest rated Renewal by Andersen affiliates with regards to homeowner satisfaction. I’m afraid some confusion as to responsibilities occurred with regards to the security wires being disconnected, #9 on our pre-installation checklist which homeowners initial and receive a copy of clearly states “Any utility lines (electrical, cable, telephone, security etc. etc.) that are required to be moved are the responsibility of the homeowner and must be taken care of prior to installation. We actually went above and beyond the call to disconnect at the homeowner direction in order to proceed on installation day. With the regards to the “less than desirable” installation on one of the windows. There is a maintenance issues on the exterior of the home not related to the window causing water infiltration. Once the homeowner has addressed that issue we will be replacing one piece of trim that is the issue due to the water problem an no additional cost. We spent about $10,000 for that work. We had half the windows in our house replaced by them and half by another company because part of our wood work is stained. We wanted wood windows there so that we could stain it and it would look like the rest of the wood work. The other company did the painted windows. They did a really good job and it did not take them too long to do the work and it was a couple of days they took to put everything in. It fit perfectly and we were satisfied with the results. It turned out really well and we were real pleased.
Description of Work: We used Renewal By Andersen Windows/Southard Corp. in September or October and they replaced some of our windows.
