 + -1 moreI called him to come look at our heater because there was water piling on top of the unit and he looked at the water and suggested it was coming from the roof vent, that it needed to be caulked. So we went up on the roof and saw that the roofers didn't caulk the flashing when they put a new roof on recently. He charged me the full price for that and he didn't take anything apart and look at it. After he left, I had the roofing company over and we looked at it some more and determined that the water was actually from moisture build up inside the pipe because the vent cap was screwed on too low, and NOT from a lack of caulk on the flashing. We went up on the roof and found the cap needed to me raised about 4 inches. A good plumber should have seen that the water coming down the vent pipe was internal. I found this out by simply unscrewing one of the pipes and seeing at the screws were rusted from the inside. But alas, this was $75 later. Live and learn.
