Jonathan was great! He was earlier than the time quoted and contacted me to see if that would work. He inspected the attic in regards to the fireplace, cleaned the fireplace and chimney. Video inspected the flue. Checked for gas leaks. Inspected the outside and roof of the chimney. Went over report with me and made recommendations. Report was easy to read and understand. I had the report in my email before he left! Jonathan answered all my questions and was friendly. He cleaned up and brought equipment needed. I would hire again, especially with their response time. Inquired on Sunday and appointment on Tuesday!!!

Terrible. Initially, they wanted to charge me a fee to come out for an estimate. I never paid them, but the owner did come out, made notes but never sent me an estimate. I gave up even though they have good products.

This service provider affords the homeowner both expert advice and first class on-site work. They listen to your ideas and make recommendations specific to your home, not to their inventory. The foreman and technicians assigned to our project were extremely polite and always respectful of how they left the job site each day; VERY clean. The value of our home was significantly increased as was our personal safety (old chimney was found to be a fire risk). Follow-up "after the sale" was by the business owner himself and was great. We've identified zero squawks related to the installations and modifications. We recommend this local company to all our contacts without reservation. It was an overall pleasant experience.

The service man, Bob, was on time, performed all the checks as noted and was knowledgeable about the product. We received a comprehensive report on the services performed. The service man also went on the roof to check out the flue to be sure there were no blockages or bird's nests, etc and found that everything was in good working order. Very positive experience. Bob an excellent serviceman Thanks for the good service. I would recommend this company to anyone needing fireplace service.

Very professional and thorough

I called and got an answering machine on two separate occasions. They didn't bother to return my call either time.

We were pleased with most aspects of the service provided. However, since the service call, we have had trouble closing and opening the damper fully. It seems to be sitting crooked. We will need to call and see what can be done. Since I wrote my review, Home Safe Hearth and Chimney has contacted us about the damper closing problem we had experienced and came out to check on it. They corrected what was a slight problem free of charge and gave us some advice on how to prevent it happening in the future. We were very pleased with their immediate response to our review, even before we had had a chance to contact them. I can now unreservedly give them 100% A.

Both times the service men were professional, worked efficiently and cleanly. This year's serviceman called ahead to say he'd be a bit late and arrived within a half hour. He cleaned the chimney and then the dryer hose which he found unhooked in the crawl space. He fixed the problem, cleaned the hose and placed the dryer back into position. We are completely satisfied.

On-time, professional, and thorough. Took the time to setup and protect the room then carefully proceeded to dismantle the unit and diagnose the problem. Quickly identified the problem, clearly explained it to me, and then fixed it. Cleaned all the components as he reinstalled them. A little more $$ than I was expecting but was commensurate with the service I received. Very happy with the job.

1/14/2011: Went to the business to inquire about their products and services. Set appointment for 1/21/2011 to have our fireplaces and chimneys cleaned and inspected. 1/21/2011: Their service representative came to our home. He inspected both chimneys, but he cleaned only one. He didn't have the correct equipment to clean our downstairs chimney. He said someone would call to reschedule him with the right truck (equipment). 5/13/2011: When we had no contact from the business for four months, we went back to the business to determine why there had been no follow-up. The lady with whom we visited (wife of the owner) was curt with us. 5/16/2011: We had a call from Bart Ogden to let us know the missing paperwork from the visit on 1/21, by their representative, had been found. An appointment for the second inspection and cleaning was set for 5/19. 5/19/2011: The same representative came to our home to complete the work and inspection from 1/21/2011. He told us we would receive a report and proposal from the owner detailing our options regarding the fireplaces. 6/17/2011: Having heard nothing for one month, we called Home Safe Hearth and Chimney to find out why there had been another delay. 6/25/2011: Proposal received. When we read the proposal, and the options presented, which came to a total cost of $ 5,454.67 + tax, we knew that other opinions and bids were needed.

We use them and we were using them before we went on Angie's List. It cost me about $150. They are very neat and tidy. They clean up after themselves and everything is spotless when they leave. They are very good at what they do. They are very professional.

I told them at the time that I was in the process of selling my home and that anything beyond the cleaning found, I would need a price on it ASAP. They found cracks on the top lip of the chimney. I am still waiting on their bid. When cleaning the chimney, Brian took part of the chain that opens and closes the chimney to get me a longer chain. He has not returned the old chain nor kept me advised of the status of the new chain. I have now contacted a new place to perform the above services. They also told me they would provide me with paperwork that I need to give to my realtor. They have not even done that. I am so upset by how I was treated by them. If they do not provide to me the paperwork in January, I am going to contact the BBB and file a complaint against them and ask for part of my money returned to me.

It's beautiful. We just love it. They come out once a year to get it ready for winter time. They're wonderful. They do a really good job. They are very nice people.

Brian, came to the house and proceeded to tell me about his go cart that had gotten stolen. Still waiting on bid to fix chimney. Said I, wanted chimney fixed before cold and snow. Brian, took off chain from fireplace to replace, and has not replaced it. Said, he would keep me posted and he has not.

Serviceman was prompt and called to see if he could arrive at house earlier than planned. He didn't charge us the full cost for two fireplaces because he recommend that we not use one of the gas log appliances due to safety concerns.

Tech JT arrived 10 minutes prior to scheduled appointment - beat me home by a few minutes. Always professional and polite and knowledgeable. Prepared and conducted the cleaning with NO mess. Laid down coverage tarps in workspace. I had a small issue last year with the flue top cap not working properly after a cleaning and Bart came out immediately and corrected at no charge. In my opinion this is a company who will perform the job right the first time but, if something goes awry, they will remedy the situation ASAP. GREAT company.

Excellent. Technician , (Jeff ), explained how the system worked and why this was an excellent and safe unit. He took measures to keep the carpet clean ( tarp over area, booties over his shoes ) . He even scheduled an appointment for next year's service. 3 days later, i even received a thank you card form the company- that was a nice gesture for sure ! I will defintely use this company again.

Bart was on time, a rarity these days, and listened carefully to my concerns regarding the main floor fireplace as there had been a leak and repair of my roof/chimney this summer. Main floor fireplace was refurbished and thoroughly cleaned and then a fire started to make sure all was in good working order. Bart then did a routine maintenance check and cleaning of the basement fireplace. He also checked my outside vent or duct to the fireplace along with checking the roof to make sure everything was as it should be. Bart spent about 2 1/2 hours at my home and was very professional addressing my questions and and educating me by providing me with tips on properly using the fireplace on the main floor.

The technician put the screen on the fireplace, measured my fireplace for a new front and vaccuumed it out. The service was exceptional and the staff were knowledgeable and caring. They provided the very best in professionalism, service, and communication. The only sour note was a $99.00 fee just to come to my house; the screen was $50.00 plus change and tax. I don't mind paying for a service call, but I think $99.00 is a little high. I will say that they have a beautiful show room and the staff certainly know fireplaces. Yes! I would recommend them and I will use them again. Oh, the gentleman doing the service was 20 minutes early after making a call to see if that was alright.

The service man arrived at the exact scheduled time. He explained what he was going to do and performed the cleaning and inspection quickly and efficiently. There was no mess or dirt left behind. He informed me of some repairs to the chimney that are needed, and will send an estimate for those repairs.

I called for an appointment on Friday, Bart came out on the next Tuesday to give me a quote and the work was completed on Wednesday. I was fortunate that this time of year is somewhat less busy for them. However, I told Bart that it would be very helpful for me to be able to complete the work while I was on vacation that week and he made it happen. The two men sent to do the job were very nice and professional. The work was performed very precisely and efficiently. I couldn't be more pleased.

Everyone at Home Safe Hearth and Chimney were so friendly and made us feel right at home while shopping for just the right fireplace. The two men who did the work were very nice and we enjoyed having them here at our home. They did an excellent job through out the whole process. This was a very positive experience!!!! And... we highly recommend this company!!!

I had recently purchased a house. They came out and inspected the fireplace and chimney. Since the chimney was clean, they did not sweep it. He pointed out a repaired crack in the back panel of the fireplace and explained if and when that panel would need to be replaced. Since I knew nothing about fireplaces, he explained how the fireplace, flue, and damper worked, how to build a fire, and how different woods performed. I was charged only a service call fee since no cleaning was done.
