I had the necessary part replaced by another appliance repair firm.
Description of Work: I purchased a used washer a few months ago and virtually immediately needed service under warranty. It was never properly repaired. Last week, the spin cycle failed. Apparently, their idea of "reconditioning" comprised shining up the outside.

Repairman showed up walked in opened washer said “tub bearing is bad $500-$700 to repair” repairman was very arrogant handed bill for almost $90. Spent more time writing the in invoice than assessing the washer. I have bought replacement appliances from them in the past but wont buy or use them again!

Description of Work: We were having problems with the Self-Clean portion of our oven. We called Herb Snow & Sons. They were out the next day at the time scheduled. Very Professional. Went over the oven operation thoroughly. He found nothing wrong other than Educating the Customer & he spent time doing that. I felt that he was very knowledgeable & I would definitely call them again.

Odd experience of looking at appliances and being unable to comparison shop because they don't bother to post their prices. The prices they do end up verbally assigning to the items are prices that are much higher than other stores with the same products. I've spent a couple of weeks comparison shopping and this is the case with this store.
Description of Work: I shopped for a refrigerator at their store. There are no prices posted so the customer cannot comparison shop. You can only hear the prices if you get a salesman to help you. The prices seem to exist in the mind of the salesman, which means they can change without you realizing it. When I saw a refrigerator I thought I might like, he opened the refrigerator door and I noticed the door gasket was torn. I mentioned it to the middle-aged man showing me the appliance. He pretended he hadn't heard me & continued to talk about the good features of the appliance. I discovered that if you see a problem with the appliance they want to sell you and you mention there is a problem they will do the salesmanship technique of pretending you didn't say anything. They just continue on. This appears to be a method of operation by a salesperson where if they pretend they didn't hear you, you will not want to feel embarrassed by continuing to repeat yourself. They seem to hope that by ignoring the problem you discovered they can re-focus you toward the positive things they want you to see.

I had a leak coming from my refrigerator. It as causing my hardwood floors to warp, and water was coming through my basement ceiling. I called late on Friday afternoon and they sent their General Manager to my house right away. He promptly made the repairs and the problem has been solved. I would highly recommend this firm.

When we made the call to Herb Snow and Son inquiring about service for our 20+ year old Amana refrigerator we were told the charge would be $49.99. We were not told that was only for the serviceman to come to our house, not there was a minimum of $25 for him to check the refrigerator out. When we complaiined, we were told there labor charge is $100 per hour charged in 15 minute increments. We disputed the charge of $75.10 because we were not told of the minimum labor charge of $25 on top of the trip charge of $49.99 when we called to request service to check the feasability of repair or replacement. The repairman checked the coils and said it was leaking freon and that repair cost would be $799.99. Replacement of a like size unit would be $1,469.99. Then we decided that it was not feasible to repair and to shop for a new refrigerator.

Overall my past experience with Maytag has been excellent, but apparently they sold out a few years ago to another company that has cheapened the product. Within the first year the motor on the dishwasher burned out twice, the stove heating element went out and it's power cord shorted out, the freezer wouldn't make ice, the fridge part froze items on the top shelf (resulting in blown up cans of soda pop everywhere), the microwave works okay and the dryer is just okay. The worst offender of them all was the washing machine with the "new" clamshell type agitator. They came out almost weekly to repair it because it wouldn't spin. Several technicians and Maytags customer service phone support all said the same thing: "You must always wash a full load of clothes . . . even if you have to throw in some clean bath towels to help top out the load!" Maytag did offer an extra one years parts and labor warranty of all of my appliances - which was used on almost all of them. I would never recommend Maytag or Herb Snow to anybody but an enemy.
Description of Work: Purchased their new top of the line Maytag fridge, stove, microwave/hood, dishwasher, washer, dryer all brand new for a new home I had built. Herb Snow and Son refused to even honor the original warranty on the products because they were out so many times on service calls. They stopped returning my phone calls. I switched over to Rick's Appliances and they were very professional and understanding of my problem - they had heard it all before from other customers. I finally loaded all of the appliances up and donated them to charity and went and bought all new Sears Kenmore appliances. So far, so good with them.

Billy first came out to check the gas valve for the oven. He ended up just tapping it and the oven started heating again. He explained that if the valve were to stick again, it will need to be replaced. He gave an estimate of the cost of the part. About 2 weeks later, the oven quit heating again. I called and gave the model and serial #'s and the part was ordered. Billy called when the part came in and came out the next day to install it. He was a very nice and professional person. The company called to make sure what he did was to my satisfaction. I said yes. I would recommend them to anyone who needs a repair on a major appliance or a new appliance.
Description of Work: Our oven is a Kenmore Gas Oven and the valve for the oven had worn out. The repairman, Billy Huffman replaced the valve and checked the gas line in the back of the oven for leaks. He did his job fast and told me every step he went through.
