+ -1 moreHaddock's repair tech was rude when I insisted that he emerge from the service area to give me more details on the issue with the computer. I searched the Apple site and discovered that another company had Apple certified repair. I took the computer there; they found a blown circuit on the power inverter board. I'm attaching a photo; even to an untrained person, the problem with the board is obvious. I don't know whether Haddock didn't even look at the computer, or whether they looked and didn't see the obviously blown component. The other company helped me order the replacement part from the Apple site. Cost of part $85--less than what Haddock charged me to experience their rude and less competent service department.
Description of Work: My Apple G4 Powerbook wouldn't boot up. Haddock is the Apple dealer in town, so I took it there for repair. I paid $135 as a initial service fee and left the computer. Two weeks later when I went back to check on progress, I was told the problem with my computer was "It won't boot up." They advised me to ship the computer to Apple for repair, and to expect that I'd have to replace motherboard at least, for about $1500. I asked for my $135 back since they had done no work. They wouldn't give me the money back.
