Description of Work: A-R Roofing tackled our 100+ year old home. Original house is traditional two story with a very steep pitched roof, the three additions go from a moderate pitch to an almost flat roof line. We had wood shingles on the steep and metal on the flat. |A-R's rep, Steve came out and measured, took pictures, and then consulted with their experienced roofers to see how to handle our challenge of a roof. A-R brought out a roofing foreman (the same man that would lead the team that roofed our house), they discussed all of the roof's problems and hazard areas and were able to give us an accurate estimate. We were confident in A-R's ability to shingle our roof. Steve also worked with our insurance agents and got more money for the job. | |We chose Grand Sequoia IR shingles. All the supplies were delivered on a Friday, roofing started the next Monday. The team had 8 members. All members were professionally dressed, shirts tucked into jeans. All members were polite and nice. A-R showed up on the day schedule before 8 a.m. |Tarps were spread out to catch all the debris. Cleanup started a half hour into the job. The team cleaned up all day. Debris came down on the tarp, it went into the trailer. My flower bed next to the house was not harmed. | |The amount the team stripped off the roof on Monday was the amount they shingled on Monday. They did not leave any exposed areas, if it wasn't shingled it had tar paper. This happened again on Tuesday. They even repaired the cedar siding that had to come off with the old roof, and they did a nice job on the repairs. The team put in a 12 hour day on Monday, Tuesday, and 5 hours on Wednesday. | |When A-R Roofing left the house on Wednesday, the yard was very clean and the roof was wonderful. The roof looks great. Yes, I will recommend A-R Roofing.

Description of Work: They tore off all roof and put a new roof on. They also removed old antenna and lightning rods as per my request. Despite poor weather they finished in a matter of days and cleaned up everything. An inspector came out a couple of days later and went on to the roof to check out the job and make any repairs that needed to be done. from quote to final billing they were a pleasure to work with.

+ -1 moreIn 2010 and again in 2013 we had severe hail damage to our home and outbuildings. For both of these storms, we contracted with A-R Roofing. The integrity of this company is outstanding. After receiving 10 inches of rain and heavy winds in July of 2012, we had a ceiling leak in our living area. Problems were quickly addressed and taken care of in a very efficient & professional manner. The management and office staff was so helpful in making sure this was all achieved. The Salesmen we dealt with were very courteous and helpful. The shingling in 2013 was accomplished by a crew that was both skillful and performed a neat cleanup after finishing the job. If we would experience another hail storm, I would definitely contact A-R Roofing! Kay Wasinger, Ness City.

Both jobs were handled very professionally from the contract to the actual roofing to the billing process. I was very pleased with A-R Roofing and would use them again if the need arises.
Description of Work: They did a flashing repair on a commercial roof. Then they completed a total re-roof and TPO on a second commercial roof.

In my opinion, he went above and beyond the scope of work and in a timley manner. Two thumbs up for A-R roofing.

+ -1 moreSalesman proposed entire scope of work and wrote quote, which we agreed to. Then, A/R's "subcontractors" showed up to do the fascia and gutter. Neither subcontractor had any idea of the details of the work to be performed. I was put in the position to have to deal with these (scary) individuals, neither of which has a verifiable business presence in Wichita. Upon clarifying the scope of work to be performed, the gutter guy became very upset and informed me that he would have never accepted the job, had he known the scope of work. As he attempted to perform the work, I understood why he didn't want to so it.... He wasn't able too!! The guy was in way over his head and began to become incredibly difficult to deal with. He told me, in a very angry manner, that I should accept his substandard work, because he would lose money to do the work properly. When I told him that I expected the work done per my signed agreement with A/R, he told me that I would have to pay extra

+ -1 moreExcellant - Team arrived covered all plants and bushes, removed roof, put new underlayment down, put on new roof, painted all flues and vents to match roof, picked up everything and ran magnet across yard three times to pick up any loose nails. New furnace flue cap was damaged out of box, supervisor reported it to his manager and a new one arrived the next day. Salesman stopped by three times while work was going on to make sure everything was going according to what he said would happen. I could not be happier with the results - salesman was able to improve the look of the roof, by adding Ridge Vents instead of the turtle vents, a much stronger underlayment and metal edging all aroung the roof without exceeding the insurance companies estimate. I watched 95% of the installation and the shingles called for 5 nails per shingle and I am sure I got 5 nails per shingle and in the proper place.

+ -1 moreChris is excellent about answering the phone and returning calls. He gave me a rough estimate over the phone after reviewing satellite images. The estimate was lower than three others and they wouldn't give me any idea of an approximate cost by phone. I met with Chris for an hour while he showed me problems with the roof on the satellite images. He showed me areas I wanted to take care of (like an electric line coming out of the roof). Also he explained codes to me when I asked about roof ventilation. He did not try to sell me on upgrades like some companies do. I asked him about the price difference for regular shingles vs. high-impact. He showed me samples and colors of everything I was interested in. My insurance agent recommended this company and so do I. They were professional, quick to complete the job and contacted me before doing additional work (repairing rotted wood) As a single female, I sometimes question the estimates of repair work. With this company I felt they gave me an honest and fair price. They did a great job and I would use them again.
Description of Work: New roof put on 1920 two-story house. Two layers of composite and one layer of original wood shingles removed. New decking and hail resistant shingles put on.

+ -1 moreI requested local workers only and they said okay, ended up using guys from Texas. There were lots of common sense mistakes which ended up costing me an additional $2500 to repair. A & R agreed that the mistakes should not have happened but would only fix part of them, later the owner came out and agreed to fix the ones the first guy said they wouldn't but then said he wouldn't fix some of the ones the first guy said he would. Geez. They filed a lien on my property within 90 days, and tried to file a judgment against me but I got that dismissed. All I wanted them to do was settle the bill for the amount minus the repairs that they refused to do themselves. Now it has cost me an additional $2200 in attorney fees, all the owner said was he would get it from me in the end.
Description of Work: Replaced roof on house and on garage from the decking all the way up, complete new roof.

+ -1 moreExcellent job. We had just sold our house and were advised that the roof was uninsurable due to hail damage. We were referred to A-R Roofing by our Realtor. We contacted their estimator, Mr Richard Drake, who came promptly to our home and gave an estimate (very close to the one our insurance adjuster had submitted). Mr Drake was very professional, knowledgeable, courteous and friendly. We explained our situation and the necessity of having the roof replaced ASAP. This was not an easy thing because there had been widespread hail damage in our area and every roofing company we had contacted had given estimates of several weeks to several months before our roof could be replaced. Mr Drake explained to his supervisor the urgency of our situation. The roofing crew came 2 weeks later and completed the job in a little over one day. They did an excellent job. We could not be more pleased.
Description of Work: Removed first layer of composition shingles (hail damaged) and felt layer. Replaced with new felt layer and laminate 30-year shingles. Replaced 2 rotted boards on chimney. Removed and replaced satellite dish. Installed galvanized frip edge, galvanized metal valleys and new sewer pipe flashings. Upon completion of job, cleaned the roof, ground, gutters and shrubbery of debris.

+ -1 moreIt was mostly a one day project for a 1600 sq ft home. The re-decking was not in the estimate and added a whopping $4500 addition to the job. This was determined to be the best method to cover the original tar and gravel roof found underneath the shakes. The ridge vent was not installed correctly. We found that it was installed without any cuts made to the decking, effectively rendering the vent useless. They were called out to finish the job and it took 2 months before someone complete the job. I was told by the sales rep that they had the best team assigned to this project and it was surprising that the ridge vent was improperly installed. I guess it was just a decoration. All in all the roof looks great and the quality seems very good. All of the vents and flashing were painted to match the roofing and damage to roof fascia boards was fixed or replaced. They did an excellent job cleaning up the debris and sweeping for nails. Inspect the work for shortcuts though.
Description of Work: August 2006: Tear off old hail damaged shake cedar roofing. Re-deck roof. Install GAF Grand Sequoyia architectural composite roofing with ridge vent.
