We had a failed water heater that had to be returned to Home Depot, and needed help getting it out of the basement and transported to the local Home Depot store (8 miles). I called A Plus based on the (mostly) good reviews on Angie's List, and talked with Curtis. He was congenial I got good vibes from the conversation. He quoted $65 to bring the water heater upstairs and take it to Home Depot, with me following. I told him it was already drained and uninstalled, and ready to go. I also talked about the unusual shape (it was shorter and bigger around than ?normal?), but it would go up the stairs without interference. We discussed payment (cash at end of job) and a receipt was promised. He said he had 2 guys available the next day (Friday) between 10 and 11am and that they would call when en route. I told him I was making other calls, but asked if I could confirm later. He indicated that I could text him, or leave a voicemail, but he definitely preferred texting. I was unable to make the decision (for A Plus) until early evening, and I left him a voicemail asking for a return call to confirm 10am Friday. Since he preferred text, at 6:46pm I texted him with my name and phone number, asking if he could confirm 10am Friday. At 8:39pm, he texted back ?We will be there?. I texted back ?Ok?. Although I was uncomfortable with the lack of voice communication, I thought we were set. Friday morning we made arrangements (got pets situated) and prepared for the event. About 10am, I realized that I didn?t remember talking about where this water heater was ? the address ? in retrospect, this was probably a clue. (He had asked about the town, but not the specific address). So, at 10:15, I texted him the address. At this point I had heard nothing from Curtis, since the text the evening before. At 11am, I texted him ?Are you coming? I need to know?. No Response. I don?t understand the complete silence after the ?We will be there?. He had both voicemail and text with my phone number. This experience was a big time waster. I would recommend to potential A Plus customers to get all the details worked out verbally, and not rely on texting.
Description of Work: A Plus was a no-show. The intended job was to move a failed water heater from the basement and deliver it to Home Depot.

I called A Plus movers because of a friend's recommendation. He said he used them a few times and they were fast and inexpensive. He said I just had to keep a close eye on them because they were usually in such a hurry they had been known to be a little careless with large pieces of furniture. I called Sunday afternoon and spoke with Curtis (Owner) about my upcoming move and told him my house sold and I was in a hurry to get moved. I called him on Sunday afternoon and discussed my move with him. We went over all of the things I would need moved and I requested a larger moving truck with 3 movers, but he kept insisting on only needing a medium truck and two movers. I reluctantly agreed to the medium truck with 2 movers. He said his available times were Thursday and Saturday. I told him lets go with Thursday and if anything changes I'll get a hold of him. He agreed. My friend met me on Monday morning and saw all of the furniture I had to move and also agreed that he thought I would need a large truck to fit everything. So I called Curtis to discuss. He never answered so I left a message for him to call me immediately. His voicemail said for faster response to Text. So I texted him too. Between Monday morning and Wednesday Afternoon I had called him 4 times and sent him 6 text messages asking him to call me back because I wanted to confirm the time he would be there on Thursday and to discuss the size of the truck he would be bringing. Luckily by Wednesday night I had sold 2 couches, a coffee table, end table and large entertainment center. This eased my mind about everything fitting in the medium size truck. Wednesday night I left him a rather frantic voicemail urging him to call me back because I needed to make sure we were still on for Thursday and what time to expect him. I had already taken off work Thursday. He finally called back late Wednesday night and apologized saying he had been busy and would be there the next morning between 10 and 11. Thursday Curtis and another guy show up at my house around 10:20 in a small box truck. First sight and I know d*** well everything won't fit in there. He comes in the house and looks over the furniture (keep in mind I had just gotten rid of 2 couches, a coffee table, end table and large entertainment stand). He looks at me and says "Well there is just too much furniture here to move and with it being last minute I'm going to have to pass on this job." Needless to say, I am p*****. He starts accusing me of not scheduling this move until late Wednesday night and that there is no way this much furniture can fit in their truck. I start arguing back that he was the one who picked the day according to his schedule and when it was scheduled last Sunday I told him several times that I thought I needed a large truck and even got rid of a bunch of furniture, but he kept insisting on the medium truck. And if that moving truck was "medium" I could only assume that a "small" moving truck would be a Chevy S-10! Then he starts saying how he doesn't have time for this move and he would have to make several trips to get everything moved. He offers up this consolation "How about we just take the important things and leave the rest?" I am so upset with him at this point I tell him to get out of my house and I will find a reputable business to deal with. It's one thing to make a mistake in judging to size of truck needed for a job, but this was embarrassing on their part. I had even gotten rid of a lot of furniture and they still would have needed to make 2 or 3 trips with the truck they brought. Then to accuse me, a customer, of lying about everything was absolutely insulting. Never in my life have I dealt with a more rag-tag, irresponsible person, masquerading as a legitimate business owner. I am not one to normally berate a local business, however, this experience truly upset me and cost me a lot of time and money. I simply hope to keep the same thing from happening to someone else. If it matters to anyone, when the "A Plus movers" left I immediately called Two Men and a Truck and told them my situation. They were very sincere and told me they would be happy to help me out. They immediately sent over a normal sized moving truck and 3 movers and everyone is incredibly professional and are moving my furniture, so far without incident.

|They follwed specific requests to wrap certain furniture. Also when we got to the 2nd location they were extremely careful with the wood floors as I requested. The owner and workers were very nice. My only issue was that on our original move date, they didnt come due to a scheduling mishap. But they redeemed themselves very well. I will definately be using A-plus movers for all my future moving needs.

Curtis arrived promptly and worked with diligence and speed to move family to a new location. He was accomodating, positive and professional. As we planned the move, he was prompt to return calls and provided helpful information that guided our preparation. He did a great job and I would recommend him highly.

So, the move was done... sort of. But, let me start at the beginning: I reached out to Curtis at A-Plus after reading the reviews here. As discussed in other reviews, I had to leave a message, but had a quick call back. We agreed to meet for a quote a couple of days later at a certain time. The time came and went with no call or appearance by Curtis. I called and texted him and finally got a text back saying that he had an emergency and would contact me right away. Long story short, I made 14 attempts to connect with him over the ensuing week. He often didn't even respond. When he did, it was to promise a call back, which never happened. Finally, he got back to me a week later with lame excuses about family emergencies. I say lame excuses because he had other people working for him, but NO ONE could even be bothered to call me back! He finally came out and looked at our whole home in detail. He told me how everyone else was overbidding me and he could do it for "no more than $400 to $450" and wrote me a quote to that end. He assured me that I would be "amazed" at their service. He even went so far as to let me know he was coming out on my move personally to make sure I was. On the 8th, they showed up as planned and began loading. Things seemed ot be going well. They were moving quickly and loading like crazy. Then, a loud noise is heard from the basement stairs and he calls for my wife (I was at our new house with other vendors getting it ready). He tells her that the desk (less than 2 years old) that was laying in pieces on the stairs was poorly made and shoddily put together and thats why it BROKE IN HALF! It didn't break at a joint... it broke in half. Clearly, this was an issue in the moving, not with the item. When he delivered our $600 book case, he told he how poorly put together it was and that's why ALL of the cam locks and other joints were ripping out of the wood. I put that piece together myself and am an experienced woodworker. It was put together perfectly and I TIGHTENED all the joints myself in advance of the move to be sure. I later figured out it was damaged because ONE PERSON tried to move a heavy bookshelf by dragging it around. It overstressed the joints and destroyed the piece. He also destroyed an antique couch table that I had moved myself twice successfully. After they were done, we discovered that walls in both houses had been gouged and scratched in the move. In the new house, they just dropped things in rooms (not even the right room many times, despite praising our labeling of the boxes for the rooms they belonged in. They also just threw things in the storage room, which took me a day to move everything back out and put it in an organized fashion. One thing I discovered 5 days later when I was able to get to it was that they had destroyed a chair that had belonged to my great grandmother (over 100 years old, built solid as a rock). They had clearly dragged it so hard that they BROKE THE LEG IN HALF... not at a joint... IN HALF. Then, they hid it in the back of the room propped together to look like it wasn't broken. When I called to complain, he didn't return my call for four days. Then, he told me I was beyond his "claim period." He never disclosed a claim period or policy. In fact, I never signed any policies at all. He had a hand-written invoice and quote on office-depot forms. No terms or conditions at all. On top of all of it, his "NO MORE THAN $400" became $650! His excuse: It didn't look like this much. I am disgusted. I have had to repair so many things and throw away over $1,000 worth of furniture that was beyond repair. He was totally non-responsive. But, I have to take accountability for even using him after I had to chase him down to get the bid even written. It was horrid and I would only recommend him to my wife's ex-husband out of spite... not to anyone else!
Description of Work: Forgive the long review, but this is a very lengthy situation and it seems important to tell the whole story - Essentially, they DID move our items, but for MORE MONEY, TAKING SIGNIFICANTLY LONGER THAN PROMISED, and while DESTROYING our walls, furniture, etc. All of this was after I was dumb enough to give them another chance after they stood me up for even giving me a quote the first time. I strongly advise against wasting your money with them. I know there are tons of positive reviews, but something has changed, cause the people I dealt with were nothing like the ones reviewed here before.

A+ Movers were the best. Starting with me leaving a voicemail and Curtis returned my call immediately. I called on a Saturday and was hoping for Monday but knew that was pushing it. Curtis said that would be fine and there would be two of them. They called before their arrival, during the time frame he said. Moved large furniture items, including a secretary from the 1800's, from upstairs without any furniture or walls being scratched at all. Worked hard and quickly and completed the job within an hour. Will definitely use them when I am ready to move to another house.

I initially found A+ Movers through Angie's List. They were able to schedule my relatively small job in a short period of time. I had a number of packed boxes in our basement which needed to be moved into an off-site storage unit. The movers called to let me know when they were on their way. The two men who arrived were well groomed and very polite. They both worked VERY fast and carefully. They asked many questions and followed my directions exactly. I definitely felt that I got my money's worth. I think that they did a very good job and I would use them again.

I had to have a 570 lb safe moved from my garage to a second floor, and a smaller safe moved back down to my garage. I called around to a few companies and either got really high prices (ie. $300) or lack of availability when I needed to move the safes. I found A Plus on Angie's List. Not only was he going to charge me a low fee, but came exactly when I wanted him too. The work went quick and the job was well done. I would highly recommend them if you need to move a safe, but they can only do safe's under 700 lbs due to their equipment. I was really glad I hired them.

They did an excellent job. To start with they removed a large couch and loveseat out of my basement and took it to my sons house and placed it in his basement. They did all of this with out scratching the walls. They also remove the couch, loveseat, and chair out of my sons basement into the garage. Then they took a bedroom suit from my house to my daughters house and brought one from her house back to my house. While at my daughters they also move another bedroom suit out to her garage. The old mattress from my daughters house to our shop. So overall they had to move stuff from 3 houses back and forth they did a great job and were fast and careful. I would use them again.

Called various movers and were quoted prices anywhere from $180-$250. Left a message for A+ on a Wednesday, and received a prompt and courteous call back the next day. The owner was very polite and said they can move it for $100. Went ahead and scheduled the move for Saturday between 11:00 am - 1:00 pm and was told they would call before coming out. They showed up on time and were very polite. They surveyed the safe, and explained in detail how exactly they were going to move it from the garage to the basement. The whole job took about 15 minutes and went very smoothly. No dings to walls or floors. Would definitely use them again for any future moving needs.

The owner, Curtis, and his employee were both very professional and went above and beyond making sure my belongings were well cared for. I had underestimated the amount of belongings I had since I had moved into a temporary apartment and never fully unpacked after moving from another state. Due to this they made a second trip on another day to complete the move. Even though this was not expected he went out of his way to fit the time it would work for me even though it was my error. I would definitely hire them again!

I called a week in advance to arrange a moving time and Curtis (the owner) was very helpful and flexible (letting me choose my own time and date). I had already moved most of the small things I could carry and fit into my car (clothes, computer, etc). I informed Curtis of what I needed moved and he quickly suggested it wouldn't take any longer than two hours. On the day of the move, the two men arrived 5 minutes early, helped me disassemble the rest of the entertainment center, and they began to quickly and carefully carry everything down the apartment stairs. Within 45 minutes they had everything out. They followed me to the new house and quickly unloaded everything that needed to go. I needed some things taken to a storage unit, so they then followed me there and they unloaded the rest. They did and excellent job with everything. They were very careful not to damage any of my things, including the walls. A lot of my stuff was very heavy (such as the solid-wood entertainment center), but the two guys handled it without any problem. It only took them 1.5 hours to load, move, and unload everything, and they only charged me for that time (not rounding up to two hours like a lot of other movers do). I was shocked to see how inexpensive it was, and how quickly they got it all moved! I'll absolutely be using these guys again if I ever need anything moved. I highly recommend them!
Description of Work: They carefully moved all of the furniture from my third floor apartment, into my new place, including a large hard-wood entertainment center (with two pillars), an old 52" projection tv, washer and dryer, couch, two dressers, large digital piano, office desk, office chair, bookcase, boxes of books, and a few other items.
