Description of Work: Our home is nearly 100 years old and every two years we have had to have the sewer augered out due to mature tree roots getting into sewer line. I checked Angie's List, chose Dutchman's and made an appointment. They were very friendly and were able to get out the same afternoon. The young man was very nice, friendly, knowledgeable. He explained everything he was doing and although he was unable to open the sewer line, he explained what happened. He showed me the augering tools and how they had become shiny, showing that the sewer had collapsed and the tools were scraping the tile. He made three passes at it. After he could not get it opened and get the water flowing, he showed me the tool he used on the auger during the final pass. It was coated with mud. He told me the mud was a definite sign the sewer line had completely collapsed and he told me that we would have to have our entire sewer line replaced. This was quite a shock, but he was sympathetic and explained what had caused it. He also adjusted the cost of his service to save me quite a bit of money. Then I asked who he would recommend to replace our sewer line. He gave me the reference, I called them, they came out the following morning to give us an estimate. I was very pleased with Dutchman's. The young man tried to cheer me up in spite of my distress. His friendly cheerful demeanor and enthusiasm for his job did help me calm down. When he went to his truck, he told me he wished he could have done more and hoped I'd try to have a good day in spite of a collapsed sewer. He had a contagious smile and I was very glad I had chosen them. I always check Angie's List first and read reviews before having any work done. I've never been disappointed.

 + 0 moreThey were really thorough about getting down in there. We found them through the phone book. We received a couple of estimates and they were the best price. We knew exactly what we needed done and he was good about giving us a price and being very exact, where we found other companies were a bit vague and quite a bit more. We liked the fact that he was very friendly and very thorough. He didn't just go down from the washing machine, he got up on the room and made sure it was clear up from the top. He did all that he could. We were also working in a time frame and he got there and got it done.

Description of Work: I wasn't home when the gentleman from Dutchman came to work on our problem. My husband was and had a very positive experience. Our sewer drain was backed up and the man from Dutchman (sorry - don't recall his name and can't reach my husband), ran a snake as far as he could to clean out the line. He determined that the end of the line connected to the city sewer line had collapsed and had to be replaced. He recommended someone who could do the job and that individual came out and replaced the sewer line. It was not as expensive as going with a national company and the work was delivered as promised.
