Wildcat Landscaping built a retaining wall, buried some downspouts, and installed some plants for me this past summer. All in all, it was about a $3800 dollar job. No small potatoes for me and my wife. After about a month, the wall started showing signs of settlement. When we were taking bids for the job, Wildcat Landscaping had stated that they would warranty the retaining wall for one year against settlement, and if it did settle they would fix it within the year. I notified Rob, the owner of Wildcat Landscaping, about the settling in late July. He advised that we wait until September to allow the settling to subside. This made sense to me, so I agreed to wait. He told me to contact him in late September. Late September came, and I attempted multiple times to contact Rob. I made at least half a dozen calls, each time leaving a message. I sent multiple text messages requesting to setup a time for him to fix the wall. During these few weeks he never returned a call or text. I actually had to call him from my work phone before he would answer. It really seemed like he was dodging my personal number. Ultimately, I wasn't able to get anything scheduled with him to fix my wall until I went down to his business and caught him face to face. A few weeks later, his crew showed up to fix the wall. They replaced a few blocks and cap stones, and for the most part fixed the perception of the settlement. However, in doing so they loosened cap stones in another portion of the wall. I sent him a series of detailed text messages with pictures of the problem areas, to which he simply responded 'Ok'. Days later when we tried to follow up to get a definitive time frame, he responded to a text from my wife telling her he had more important things to take care of and he would get to it when he could. This guy has been paid in full for 3 months, all I want is a completed job. Getting him there once to fix his mistakes was difficult enough. In addition to this, the crew tore up parts of my yard when they were building the wall initially. They actually again left ruts when they came back to fix the settling the second time. Rob had promised to put down grass seed on these areas, but he never made good on that offer. They had also planted a tree crooked, and when I brought this to his attention he assured me they would come and stake the tree. After playing phone tag with him for 2-3 weeks on that issue, I gave up and staked the tree myself. There were issues with the buried downspouts as well that he claimed he would address that I had to end up doing myself. I hope others can learn from my experience with Wildcat Landscaping. Drawing from my experience it seems Wildcat Landscaping is evidently not interested in cultivating a relationship with their customers or standing behind their work. I understand issues come up with jobs, but that is when a company is supposed to work and communicate with their customer. Not totally avoid the customer?s calls. Wildcat Landscaping must only be interested in the short term payday, and not building a lasting customer relationship. We have a list of similar projects we would like to have done in the next few years, and I will never consider Wildcat Landscaping again. Please learn from my unfortunate encounter with this company.
