Thank you for speaking with me. I have sent over the inspection checklist and the sheet of comments the tech made about the individual items in each area of the home. As a side note when we do an annual checkup its primary purpose is to get ahead of issues before they happen. Basically prevent minor issues from becoming major ones. The Service Partner Plan monthly fee that adds up to $168 annually basically covers a yearly checkup of your plumbing, heating and air conditioning system, no overtime fees for after hours emergencies, priority scheduling, and a discount off of any work that you need done in your home. Also if you get any repair done while we are at the home dping the checkup you also save the $39 dispatch fee for coming out. Once again thank you for taking the time to speak to me today. Have a great remainder of the week! -Pat

Description of Work: Replaced faucet, sink drain basket in bottom of sink, shutoff valves on kitchen sink. Replaced 2 flex lines one for the furnace and one for the gas stove in the kitchen. Well, noticed afterwards that the joints in the drain pipes under the sink are loose and leaking. The guy told me there was no reason to have such a long gas line for the stove. After delivery of my brand new gas stove I found out that the longer line WAS needed so it could be centered under the upper cabinet so now my stove cant be centered on the wall. The furnace line was replaced but he didn't have a fire source with him to relight my pilot light. We did that on our own. I'll admit we didn't reach out to the company for resolution, we just decided to cut our losses and move on with our lesson learned.... an awfully expensive lesson.

Not a good experience!
Description of Work: We had a broken thermocouple on the water heater. Pat the Plumber didn't know if replacing the thermocouple would solve the problem and wouldn't guarentee it if they replaced it. And, Pat the Plumber would NOT credit the service call cost to the cost of replacing the thermocouple...regardless of whether it worked or not. Then they quoted me over $1,300 to replace the water heater which I ended up doing for $325 for the new gas water heater (40 gallon) and some time to install it. I'd avoid Pat the Plumber.

I am truly sorry for your experience with our company. I tried to call the phone number we had on file for you and it has been disconnected and we don't have an email on file for you either. Also I have tried to look up your contact information online and in the phone book so I can speak to your personally and apologize. I have not been able to locate a way to contact you so I will send a written apology to you in the mail and also a gift certificate to use in the future if you would like to try us again. I did speak to my technician. Unfortunately since the service was back in July of 2011 he was unable to remember so all we have are his notes. The serial number on the water heater indicated it was 18yrs old. The technician gave options to repair and replace the water heater at your rental home. The issue with an 18yr old water heater is that we can replace the thermocouple but there are other significant components on the water heater that are at the end of their serviceable life. Our standard charge is $39 for sending a licensed plumber who is licensed, insured, background checked, and drug tested. He will have a fully stocked vehicle which will have most everything that we need to do any work in your home. Most, if not all companies, have a minimum service fee to have someone come out. We feel the $39 fee is reasonable. I do understand that a top of the line water heater is expensive especially installed by a licensed plumber. It is also required by the City of Topeka Plumbing code that a water heater be installed by a licensed plumbing contractor unless it is their primary residence, rentals excluded. I do understand that you can purchase a less expensive water heater and can install it or have someone install it for less. The options we quoted are reflective of the quality of the workmanship and the materials we provide. I do hope this explains things and if there are still any issues please feel free to contact me and we can address them. Thank you.

When the drain from the toilet backed up into the bathtub, I knew I had to get someone quick. The problem was in the upstairs apartment in my house rented by a couple with a baby. My regular plumber was unavailable, so I looked at Angie's list for a recommendation. Pat the Plumber was listed and came highly rated, though it was commented that his price was pretty steep. I remembered seeing Pat's sign in the yard of a friend, so I called him. He said the same: great work, high price. Pat sent one of his plumbers out within the hour and the issue was resolved quickly. Note to parents: Do not flush baby wipes! I signed up for the $8.95 per month service where they will inspect annually everything to do with the plumbing. They will come on weekends and won't charge you any extra. They also give you a 15 percent discount, which appealed to me the most because the cost was pretty high. Pat's employee did an inspection on the water heater. The next morning I saw there was a little water leaking on the floor where he had installed a drain faucet, at no charge. Pat sent him out, and he came back and fixed that. The same night my renter called and said we didn?t have any hot water. I called Pat around 11 pm and he sent the same employee right away. He had failed to relight the pilot. I was pretty put out. I seriously considered canceling that monthly membership. I had a follow-up visit with Pat the Plumber regarding my dissatisfaction with the inspection of the hot water heater. Pat called me asking for an appointment to talk to me about the issue. When we met he assured me this was not the way his company operates and talked about how he could make it right. He offered me some complementary services, which were generous, and satisfying to me. I will use his services again, knowing my experience with the hot water heater was not typical. The quality of the work done on the original problem was. Pat was very professional and cares very much that his customers are satisfied. Pat also addressed the cost of his company's services. He talked about the quality of their work (with which I can agree), and told me that his technicians go through a two-hour training every week. That's impressive!
Description of Work: I used Pat The Plumber for a plumbing emergency.

Pat the Plumber was so helpful in advising us on what toilet to purchase to avoid repair bills etc in the future. I really appreciated his honesty and helpfulness. The other plumber I spoke to did not offer any advice and didn't even return my call. Both Pat and the plumber doing the installation were so friendly and helpful. We were very happy and would highly recommend him for anyone considering a plumber.

We initially called and there was a slight communication issue, the contact at Pat the Plumber thought we needed some repair work to existing fixtures and Pat the Plumber does not provide free estimates for repair work. I called back and explained that we wanted to completely replace those fixtures and was told that this would result in a free estimate. A gentleman came out who did not seem to be a plumber, but dealt more with remodels. His suggestions seemed very costly and difficult. We tried to ask why the sink and vanity had to be removed, why couldn't they go in through the shower wall and replace the very plain, common white tile when the fixtures were replaced. The estimate was over $2,000. We ended up finding another plumber who did some of the work for about $200 and we paid a handyman friend to finish the tile portion. Overall cost, including new fixtures ended up being about $600. I really feel that the estimator did not understand our wants and I still don't understand how this estimate was so high.
Description of Work: We needed to have some bathroom work done. The shower fixtures needed replacing and there is no direct access.

Response from Pat Plumbing, Heating and Air
We are sorry that there was a misunderstanding of what you wanted. The estimator met your husband at your home and examined different options with him. One of which was removing the sink and vanity on the opposite side of the shower to access the plumbing to prevent any invasive work in the shower area. This would have prevented the removal of tile. It was asked that we remove the tile to gain access to the plumbing which resulted in an exact proposal quote of $1831.00 for the renovation of the shower. This was an all-inclusive quote that would not change regardless of what was encountered during the project. The quote is reflective of the quality of the workmanship and the materials we provide. We simply cannot provide our level of service for any less than what was proposed.
