+ 2 moreIt went great. Vern is very knowledgeable and pleasant and was extremely conscientious when trying to match our other woodwork. He was also very careful when working around our furniture. A lot of construction companies have the work done by subcontractors but Vern did the installation himself which we really appreciated.
Description of Work: We had crown molding installed in our living room and hallway.

+ -1 moreI have had an excellent experience with them. They were very flexible. They came in with suggestions and we sat down and talked it over and they were really flexible about my preferences. There was some work that we actually did along side of them and they just did an excellent job of scheduling, I am disabled, so they would kind of rearrange things to suit my hours. They were just very flexible and very professional. Their price was very reasonable.
Description of Work: In 2009 Greenlight Construction totally renovated two bathrooms for us and then in 2010 they renovated our kitchen with a whole new cabinetry, we had already purchased the range, refrigerator, etc., and installed some new lighting, hooked everything up, new flooring, etc.

Description of Work: Remodeled the front side of house which was added on to 2 times by previous owners and made it look like all one structure, replaced boards in porch ceiling, replaced various rotted boards guttering sat on and put up boards on south peak and on west side of home, sided front side of house, installed 4 windows, repaired foundation of home and worked closely with concrete company to stop water from leaking into garage under foundation & installed 4 new windows.

Description of Work: The roof leaked so there was drywall to replace in a bedroom and garage, and then repainting the area. We also replaced tile in two bathrooms and made a pocket door for the bathroom.

+ 1 morePros: Found rotten subfloor in Bath 1 and took tub and built-ins out in order to replace Installed drywall behind tile in Bath 1 - the surround had been attached to studs Found some termite damage on one floor joist and reinforced it Itemized estimates and invoices Easy to get ahold of Cons: Did not successfully repair the LR window (it leaked the very first time it rained) and I had to argue with him to get back only $200 of the $600 charged for the LR work so I could replace the window. Drywall beneath LR window was poorly done Took much longer than estimated - many days not on site or only one person working Additional work to replace Bath 1 subfloor much more expensive than anticipated Didn't tighten the new Bath 1 bathtub drain enough and it leaked in the basement
Description of Work: Living room: Replace 10x10 section of drywall, diagnose and repair or recommend replacement of leaking large window, replace damaged drywall along bottom of window, Basement: tear down old non-loadbearing wall then frame and drywall a new one, Bath 1: remove old 3-part tub enclosure and replace with tile, Bath 2: remove and replace rotted subfloor, install drywall on all walls, modify tub plumbing to include a shower, install tile tub surround.

+ 4 moreOur kitchen remodel actually started with a water leak. It happened over labor-day weekend, so the floor/cabinets got to sit in water all day long. This damaged the floor, baseboards, and necessitated the removal of all the cabinets to get to the floor underneath. Ripping out the cabinets also meant that our tile counter top and parts of the wall would come with it. With this in mind, we decided it was time to make some changes and upgrade anyway. The team at Greenlight did an excellent job consulting with us and making helpful suggestions. Greenlight suggested a custom cabinet maker and worked with them to re-organize the space. They even have a design team on staff to help with decorating, color choices, and fung-shui (the flow of the room). Overall, we were extremely pleased with the results. The kitchen is now it is our favorite room in the house.
Description of Work: We had Greenlight Construction remodel most of the kitchen, including removal of old laminate and sub-floor. They also removed ugly old cabinets that were glued, bolted and practically built into the walls and ceiling to replace them with beautiful custom-made cabinetry. They added a dish washer, moving the sink and range into a more functional and pleasant arrangement. Our kitchen had some...let's say...unique features that made the job more challenging, but the team at Greenlight worked around those features and corrected several of them to make the space more functional. Part of the kitchen was clearly an add-on and the wall had two distinct levels. Greenlight re-built that wall to flatten it out, adding some insulation, which has made a big difference as the temperature has begun to drop this winter. They also coordinated with electrical and plumbing specialists to add new outlets and upgrade the kitchen plumbing, getting everything up to code.

+ 2 moreThe process, from start to finish, was pretty smooth. Verne's estimate was spot-on. We were overall pleased with the work that Greenlight did. Verne was concerned that the grout for the new tile didn't match the grout for the previously laid tile. We ended up finishing the grouting ourselves, which was not a problem. The tile looks great. Greenlight was concerned with details, which is exactly what contractors should be.
Description of Work: We had general work to be done: some tile to be laid, trim installed along mopboards and around doors, some sheetrock to be hung and repaired, and some small patching of ceiling and walls. Verne was prompt in returning my phone call and setting up an appointment to provide an estimate. He gave us a list of supplies to purchase ahead of time--it saved time and money, as we were able to have nearly everything required to do the job on-site before they arrived. Verne and Jimmy(?) were professional and prompt. They have many years of contracting experience, and that was evident in the finished work. All the little "finish" jobs we were unsure of how to do looked good when the guys were done. Thanks!!

The bid was accepted and I purchased a new mail box and he was very timely in doing the install. I even got a compliment from the post lady who delivers my mail on the placement.
Description of Work: Put in a new mailbox to replace one that was run over by a car. Reomoved the old mail box and put in a new one.
