Response from Twins Custom Cabinets
She requested a bid for custom built cabinets to add on to her existing kitchen cabinets and to add doors to an open arched bookcase and island. A bid was given. Price was more than she could afford all at one time. The member asked for a breakdown in pricing for various items. Revised pricing was given. 2 weeks went by. The member decided on the doors only. Credit card info was given over the phone and down payment processed on 4/1/11. Materials were ordered. (did not deduct cost from refund) Additional measurements needed to be made at the member’s house. Phone call was made to her office. Had to leave a message with receptionist. Did not hear from the member until a week and a half later. Another phone call was placed to the member, same thing, had to leave a message. Didn’t hear back from her again, for another week and a half. The member advised she was getting divorced and thinking about selling the house. We offered to return her money at that time. She said, no, go ahead and make the doors. Appointment was set for Friday, 6-10-11. We were out installing cabinets at another customer’s home that morning and got delayed. The member called my cell phone. Advised her I might be able to make to her house late that afternoon as I couldn’t just leave the job I working on. She advised she was calling from the neighbors. She didn’t have a working phone. She left no number to reach her. Unable to contact her to reschedule appointment. The member called our office and my cell phone on Saturday and left messages. Our office is closed on the weekends and my cell phone was not in an area to receive service. Her calls were not blocked. The member has made calls to the office phone for the past two weekends (on Saturdays and Sundays only) and left rather unsettling and somewhat threatening messages. These calls were made after she filed this complaint and prior to the Dispute Resolution process deadline of June 29th. A call was placed to the member advising her that her money would be returned. She still made 2 phone calls after this. We have returned the full down payment of $780 to the member. The money was sent by certified mail to her place of residence.
