This company and it's tech were professional and punctual The total repair took approximately 20-30 minutes. The price was $281.00. It appeared to be quality work. The price, however, seemed very steep. These parts are available for approximately $50 at Home Depot and other hardware stores, which leaves the charge for labor at approximately $230. This is high for the small amount of time it took and it did not include anything extra like a free tune-up or free filter. I do not know how this would compare with other HVAC companies. It might be the going rate. I plan to check with a few other companies to find out what they would have charged, so I will know whether I want to use LADD again or go with another company when the next repair is needed. They show a senior discount on here, but they did not give me the senior discount. I was helped by a non-profit organization since I did not have the funds available, but will be paying them back as soon as possible.

Dave came out checked the softener out completely showed me how to see the water level in the tank, told me what would indicate a problem and how much salt to keep in the tank, even added the the salt i had on hand for me. there was no problem i just could not see the water level.They worked around my schedule as I work nights. Called before coming and were here on time. i also use LADD for my furnace and A/C service. Great company i use then for all problems that i have had and have always been more than satisfied.
Description of Work: LADD had installed a water softener about 1 yr ago i was not seeing water in the tank, i needed a repair check.

The problem was diagnosed - the pressure switch.had failed. They installed a new switch, replaced the filter, etc - excellent service!
Description of Work: My 16 year old furnace stopped functioning. I was offered same day service but but my schedule didn't permit so they were out first thing the following morning.

They did not charge me because it was still under warranty. Someone else had put it in for use but he is not here any more. So they came and did it. We did have to pay for the instillation, but I don't remember how much it was. They came they did it and we didn't have to pay for the water heater. But we had to pay the service charge to come here. I thought the price was good. He came right away.
Description of Work: The water heater we had went out and it was still under warranty so they came back and put another on in.

One person came out to complete the service and it took him about an hour to complete the job. He left the area clean. My overall score includes the price and the quality. They are probably reasonably priced among their peers, but the whole bunch is unbelievable.

they did a fantastic job, they were able to fix all of the errors with the incorrectly installed water softener and install the new one correctly, they got my RO system removed and the plumbing reinstalled correctly, and they flushed my water heater that this other company refused to flush as they said it did not need to be flushed at all. so i was very happy to have everything in correctly and working right.
Description of Work: they replaced a faulty water softener that had been installed incorrectly by another company, removed an RO system that had been installed incorrectly by another company, and flushed my tankless hot water heater.

My AC went out Saturday and I had a tech from our regular HVAC service provider come out for an emergency repair. To my dismay I was told our 10 year old Lenox had too many leaks on the A coil and I should replace the unit. From my understanding the EPA is slowly discontinuing R22 freon and they would not be able to replace the A coil. This past Monday I had four HVAC contractors give me a bid to replace the AC and the furnace since both were contractor grade units (AC was a 10 SEER unit and furnace was maybe 75-80% efficient. My intent was to get a package deal so that both units complimented each other for increased efficiency. Ladd was the last company that day to come out and evaluate the situation. Roger from Ladd, really went into detail of what type of units I could get within my budget ($7k-$8k). In addition, during the evaluation made detailed comments on how the units would be installed to code and that my previous installer failed to meet code in several areas. That night my wife and I evaluated the bids and went with Ladd. 1. Because Roger was so knowledgable 2. Installation of a new furnace and AC is just as important as purchasing the unit themselves and Roger was very good at explaining the codes to me. 3. Ladd sells American Standard units and Consumer Reports rates American Standard as the most reliable brand. We contacted Roger to award him the bid and he stated that he could not be here until Thursday, several days later. this was no biggie for us since we were staying with some friends. Roger arrived at 7:30am (right on time) with his installers (Mike and Nate) and showed them the job. Mike and Nate were very professional and courteous throughout the install and both kept their work area very clean. The project was to last two days...Day 1 was getting the AC running and Day 2 was installing the furnace. The project went exactly has planned and by 3pm the AC was running and we were back sleeping in our beds that night. Mike and Nate finished up today and my wife are very happy with their install. Our plan is to continue with Ladd and establish a maintenance agreement. These types of contracts normally include a Spring and Fall start up. If you are looking for a new furnace or AC give Ladd a call.

We called Ladd this morning and had a plumber here this same day by late morning. The plumber (Dave) was totally courteous, listened carefully and went right to work. He evaluated the possibility of putting in a washer and also evaluated the effectiveness of a floor drain next to where the washer would go. Dave was GREAT! We will ask for him the next time we need a plumber. We are also pleased with Ladd Service Company in general. They service our heating and air conditioning and all the service providers we have had come have been truly great.
Description of Work: We needed a plumber to assess plumbing in the basement to see if it was adequate and in good shape to put in a washing machine. That plumbing hadn't been used for years.

They did a very bad job. We had them to do the a/c in our small house earlier and we also made them to do our bigger house. But they did a smaller one there. In out new house, we asked them to be sure that they get good heating and cooling unit since it is a 2 storey house. They got us a unit which they promised that it was enough for the house and a heater. It had a five year guarantee on the compressor and it went off a month after the five year time and they did not do anything about it. They also knew that we were not happy about it. People who do the job are average, but the office staff like the managers are very hard to deal with. May be it is changed now under a different management.

We installed a 4T heat pump & coil on 2/20/2008, which included a 5 year manufacturer warranty and a 2 year labor warranty. Like your car, your heating & cooling equipment requires maintenance each season to optimize performance and to keep the manufacturer warranty intact. The last maintenance we performed was 9/22/2010. Maintenance was scheduled for 8/4/2011, however, once the technician arrived at your home you cancelled. On 8/1/2012 you called and scheduled maintenance for 8/2/12 at which time you stated the filter hadn’t been changed since the last time we changed it (in 2010). You then called back later that same day to say the A/C wasn’t working and needed someone out sooner. At that time, our regular appointments were filled, so you were offered after hours. It was also explained that while there is parts warranty on the equipment, it does not cover the diagnostic trip charge (regular hours or after hours). We scheduled you for after hours and let you know that if the schedule changed and we were able to get the technician out during regular business hours, you would be charged accordingly. We rearranged our schedule and were able to get a technician out earlier, but you decided you didn’t want to pay us to diagnose the problem and cancelled the service call. We have no record of diagnosing a bad compressor, but in the event we had, we cannot dictate what the manufacturer will cover beyond the expiration of their warranty.

I liked him and I thought he was an okay guy. He was quiet. The quality of work was fine. Their responsiveness was fine and good. I did not have an appointment so punctuality does not apply. I would use them again.

I don't use them anymore. They were okay. I used them because of the price. There was no fault on their part. They were fine. It was a pricing thing. They were in line with everybody else. I went with somebody else but it's nothing negative towards them.

One of the things I like was that they checked the filtering and said that I need to change it and suggested that I just order it. I saved quite a bit of my money.

It was wonderful. We have used them in the past and they do really good work. I was surprised the price was so cheap. I was at work when they came and my sister took care for that day. They took care of everything and they cleaned up everything and did a really good job. The employees were real good. They came out the same day. They were very punctual and in fact there were times that they came earlier. They called and asked if they can come early. They have been very good. I will absolutely use them in the future.

Roger came to my house to give me an estimate on installing central air (house currently doesn't have central air) and replacing the existing furnace. Roger was very professional and friendly. He seemed very knowedable and did a good job explaining how the new unit would be installed. I ended up going with a different company (only b/c they sold Trane systems) but would still recommend Ladd to my friends.

The technician, Michael, installed a chimney type range exhaust and installed an outlet, as this model had a plug, and ran an electrical line to the box. He also installed ductwork to the roof. In order to install the hood, he had to remove a light fixture that was above the stove. Above the stove was sheetrock soffit. This work was done in June of this year. Later, in August, I had another contractor come out to remove soffits and install kitchen cabinets. When the soffit above the stove was removed by my current contractor, he found the wire that had been running to the light fixture inside the walls. There were bare wire that were hot. Michael had not capped them or put them in a box. This is totally unacceptable and a very hazardous situation. Upon learning this I called Ladd and talked to Roger to explain the situation. I explained my current contractor had rectified the situation by capping the wires and putting them in a box. Roger asked me "What do you want me to do about it?" He did not offer an apology and his tone was not that he was sincerely wanting to make it right with me. He wanted to know the exact date that Michael did his work and the exact day that I found the exposed wires. I told him I could not give him an exact date, but that it had been discovered within the past two weeks. Roger's response was: " you should have told me sooner, when the work was being done". I told him, which was already evident to him, that I was not aware of the problem until the soffits had been removed. He was insistent that I give him a date and that I should have called him sooner. He was turning this situation around and I felt trying to put the blame on me somehow, for not reporting it sooner. I finally said to Roger: "It doesn't really matter what day I found it. What's important is that it was found. Again, I don't expect you do to do anything about the work, as it has already been taken care of. This was a courtesy call to let you be aware of the kind of work your employees are doing, so you can deal with it." I ended the call there. I will not use this company again and do not recommend them.
Description of Work: Install chimney type range exhaust hood; run dedicated electrical line to the box. In doing so he left bare, exposed, hot electrical wires in my walls.

Ladd Services was one of the HVAC companies we contacted for a bid to replace our heating and ac system. Although, I feel they would do the job and do it right, I don't think they were very thorough in evaluating our situation. As it turned out we did not have enough cold air returns in our house to allow a new 95% effiecient furnace to work properly. I think they were just going to slap in a new furnace and outside unit and call it good. We ended up hiring another company for the job.

He arrived at our house as scheduled, courteous and competent in preparations for the installation. He had all necessary materials, and offered understandable explanations for changes that were required. The work was completed in a timely manner, and the job site was left clean. The service rates were certainly fair.

They were very responsive, calling me back early the next morning (and since I called after hours the night before, this was great). They were able to come out the same day and came within the time frame that they said that they could. They called ahead to let me know that the service guy was on his way. He was prompt, friendly and very knowledgeable. He mentioned the concerns about carbon monoxide to me, which no one has ever mentioned to me before. He noticed that the until was fairly new and was still under warranty (which they hadn't installed). I was very happy with the service that they provided and happy my house is cooler!!!
Description of Work: My AC unit kept freezing up, which in 100+ degree weather is horrible, and so I called Ladd Service. They came out and checked for a Freon leak and replaced my Freon in my AC unit.
