Dusty's Hardwood Floors Service

Dusty gave me an estimate the same day I called. He outlined two finishes that he thought would work for our lifestyle. we chose Loba Supra, a two part water based finish made in Germany. I needed the work done relatively soon and he was able to work me in at a mutually agreeable time. He allowed sufficient time for each coat to dry -thus I did not feel that he was just trying to get the job done and move on to the next job. Dusty works with his brother, Derick and another man so it is truely a owner operated business. They covered all of the kitchen cabinets with plastic to minimize sawdust infiltration and cleaned the outside of the cabinets and counter tops just before applying the final coat. The final product met all of my expectations. In addition, Dusty gave me some info on cleaning the floor and proper use of carpets.

I found Dusty's Hardwoods on Angie's List. I had called a few contractors from Angie's List and all were respectable and professional. I found Dustin to be the most professional and friendly of the bunch. While his estimate was slightly higher than some others, I for once went with my gut and not with the cheapest bid. Dustin, his brother Derek, and helper Seth were all highly professional from start to finish. Dustin provided a detailed bid and explained how I could save some money by doing some of the easier things (moving fridge, removing carpet, etc) my self which actually brought the bid back in with others'. Our start date came and Dustin was on time and began work immediately. I left for a few hours and returned to find the flooring almost completely done. Each day Dustin and Derek arrived perfectly on time and explained what would happen that day. The pair even showed up one morning after being up all night and morning waiting the arrival of a family member's child. I feel as if other contractors would have called in saying they can't make it but not these two. The project went well, starting on a Monday and finishing Thursday. Come Thursday I realized why I had hired Dustin and not another company. Dustin was pretty much finished but had informed me that a few boards were just not perfect do to an error at the lumber mill. As others in his reviews have stated this is where the difference in hiring Dusty's Hardwoods and another company comes into play. Most contractors would have just completed the job, collected their final check, and left. Leaving me to find flaws later and battle to have them come fix them. Not Dustin. Dustin brought the offending boards to my attention and didn't try to hide anything. He explained some options, including just starting over, eating the whole cost himself. Dustin's expertise prevailed and he was able to get the problem fixed, providing hundreds of dollars in finish to make the floor look right and never asking for more money. Dustin even honored an Angie's List coupon that I found after he had bid the job. More over he told me that the coupon I had was not the correct one and that the new one is for more money off so he would use that one. What contractor does that?? I was amazed. To sum it up, don't waste your money on other contractors. Dustin and Derek are highly professional, trustworthy, personable. We couldn't be happier with our floor. Worth every penny and probably more!

Integrity... Dusty has it. Great to work with... friendly, communicative, punctual, and qualified. We gave Dusty and Derek our access code, left home for a few days vacation and came back to beautiful floors. Regular e-mails from Dusty with photos kept us apprised of the work progress. Dust generation was one of our greatest concerns... their dust control and cleanup were very satisfactory. They made it easy to have beautiful hardwood floors.

I received estimates and met with several floor refinishing companies, all were found here on Angie's List. While Dusty's was slightly higher than a couple of other estimates I received I felt most comfortable with him. Upon his suggestion we elected to go with a water based finish. He didn't try to push us in one direction or another, just presented the pros and cons and let us make the decision but did offer his opinion when asked. We're happy with the results and only time will tell if it holds up as well as an oil based finish but he assured us that it would. I will certainly contact Dusty again in the future. Unfortunately I'll have to a bit sooner than expected since our careless contractor scratched our freshly finished floor!

We had a staircase, hallway and landing area installed and we are very pleased from start to finish. Dusty is very professional and easy to do business with. He shows up when he says he will, communicates thoroughly throughout the project, works hard, and is happy to answer questions. We had existing hardwoods that we wanted to match with the newly installed hardwoods. Dusty presented multiple options and was willing to take as much time needed to get the right color. Whatever it took to make us happy. About a week after the project was finished, we noticed a few areas that needed additional attention. Dusty responded promptly and was happy to come fix the issues in a timely manner and, In my opinion, this is the true test whenever one has work done on their home. After the job was done and the check was cashed, Dusty stands by his work and makes it right. We love our new stairs and floors! Dusty is the only person we will call for our future hardwood needs.

Dusty, Derrick and their helper arrived promptly and began to work installing the new hardwood floors in my living room/dining room area and the master bedroom. I was amazed at the amount of floor they installed the first day of work, well over half the project. Then on to the refinishing of the existing hardwood floors. In a recent kitchen renovation, another flooring company had patched a part of the floor with the wrong species of wood. Dusty was able to remove the offending boards and replace with the correct species of wood. This floor was very scratched and now looks beautiful. The quality of the work is excellent and the floors are gorgeous and give a new feel to the place. All this work was done in the midst of road repair work which eliminated their truck access to the home on one day. The guys coped wonderfully with this blimp in their work schedule. Great job !

The service It went very well. Dusty was very responsive to any questions and concerns we had. Dusty and his brother Derek were both good at answering questions. Did a great job on the installation of the new floor. It looks great, like it was all installed at the same time. The floor looks great and I know we will enjoy it. They were very timely, professional and easy to work with. I would definately use them again in the future. I only received one other bid and they were all comparableto the other hardwood floor provider.

From the very beginning of this project Dusty was top quality. His bid was fair and he did a great job of explaining all of the work he would and could do. We choose to do some of the pre-work ourselves (carpet and trim removal) and Dusty easily adjusted his price to reflect this. Our original plan was to leave our kitchen flooring in place and have Dusty weave in replacement pieces to fill in areas where the old cabinets had been. After a well thought out discussion with him, we decided to tear out the entire floor and replace with new flooring. We based our decision on input from Dusty, although he was very willing to do whatever work we wanted. As the job progressed, we were unfortunate to have a leak in a newly plumbed dishwasher. Dusty has given us great advice on the proper way to handle the repairs for the floor and what to expect for his ability to make our new floor look new again. He takes great pride in his work, and expects the customer to be satisfied. We are very pleased with the work he has done for us and will use him for future jobs. I would highly advise getting on his schedule and receiving the quality workmanship he and his brother can bring to your job.

The project went fine.

Dusty and his crew did a fantastic job refinishing my 60 year old hardwood floors. After removing the carpet in the living area, we discovered many, many, water/pet stains. The stain color that Dusty and his brother suggested did a beautiful job concealing the stains. My floors are gorgeous! Dusty was always a phone call or text away to answer any and all my questions. He did exactly what we agreed to, and some extra trim work that I hadn?t thought about at no additional charge. The job was started and finished on time and within budget. They were very timely. It was a great experience. The dusty free process was great. I had very little clean up after the job was completed unlike another time I had the floor refinished that was done by another company. They were great on reviewing with me how to care for the floor to keep it looking great for a long time. Their experience helped me to select the stain color that would hold up best for my household.

Dusty came recommended from a friend of mine after he had Dusty put new hardwood flooring into his lake house. Luckily I found Dusty on Angie's List and he had great reviews and recommendations. I contacted Dusty for an estimate to refinish our white oak wood floors that were over 12 years old with significant wear from kids, dogs, etc. Dusty was great to work through through the entire process. He worked around our schedule, and was always courteous and responsive with his communication. His crew was nice and clean. My expectation of tradesman/contractors is extremely high; not only for the actual quality of the work but the all the other aspects of running a business (communication, promptness, professionalism, etc.). You might do great work but if you aren't professional I won't hire you. If you see this just stop and call him. No need to look further for your flooring contractor. Great job Dusty and team.

The job went great. My job wasn't huge and I wasn't in a big hurry, so I just let Dusty fit it into his schedule. It only took 3 days, which was much quicker than I expected. As I'm finding out, this house was pieced together and every time I remodel something. There are alway surprises. Dusty worked hard (planing and shimming the floors) to make the hardwood work and look great. This is the third time I've had Dusty do work for me. I now think I have hardwood floor everywhere i want it. Now I'll just have to call Dusty for recoating/refinshing.

This was a big project and took a week to complete. Dusty did an excellent job explaining the process when he gave me the estimate. Dusty worked with me in terms of scheduling and, despite the fact that the weather did not cooperate, he completed the job in the time he'd estimated. From the time they arrived until the job was finished, the work was performed in a very professional way and Dusty thoroughly explained the process and my options. The information and explanations he provided gave me tremendous confidence in his knowledge and experience and the finished product confirms it. In terms of price, quality and custormer service, I am very pleased with their work and would highly recommend this company to anyone considering a hardwood floor refinishing project.

I contacted Dusty in January and he got me in right away to do a walk-through of my house for a bid. He was very informative and professional during the bid process. I received my proposal back within 2 days and it was itemized to room and the different options that we discussed during the walk-through. On the start date of the work, I did another quick walk-through with him to make sure we were all on the same page as to what I wanted done and he introduced me to the others that would be working with him. They started on Monday and were completed on Thursday. I could not be happier with then end result. My home is circa 1908 and has been through many transitions excluding being broken up into multifamily apartments at one time, these floors have been sorely abused! Deep scratches, ancient pet stains and just over 100 years of wear and tear. Dusty was very up front about problem areas that he was concerned with how it would turn out. I really appreciated his honestly and not just giving me unattainable expectations. However, he is much more a perfectionist than I because I think they did an amazing job and the end result just makes me smile every time I walk in the door! Some highlights of the job: I have two dogs who are my babies and are very h****** floors, when doing the original walk-through, Dusty was very informative about what finishes will withstand wear and tear of dogs better, what color stains will hide scratches, etc. because of our in depth discussions on this topic I choose to go with a satin finish and 4 coats of poly to get the longest life out of this investment. As I said above, this house has had a lot of work done to it and a lot of that very amateur. Three stair treads were not oak but replaced at some time with a cheap pine that had been heavily stained to resemble oak, Dusty replaced these. As well as tearing out a corner finish that was just badly done and securing it so much better. He also tightened all the stairs down and now they make scarcely a peep when walking down them! He gives you great tips on extending the life of your new floors. Cleaning solutions cheats, basically tells you not to waste money on expensive floor products! Some of my trim had been replaced and he gave me a contact at a local lumber company to get a key made to match the original custom trim work. The only problem I have is that I now look at the remaining floors that need to be completed and they are just sad compared to my beautiful new living, dining and staircase! I will definitely be calling Dusty back to finish my home when time / cost make sense for me to do so! Could not be happier with the service and quality of work that these guys did! My experience with Dusty's Hardwood Floor Service was fantastic. I've used a lot of contractors over the years, and Dusty is one of the best (maybe my top pick). He was consistently friendly and professional and welcomed any questions I had, and did a great job of managing my expectations and letting me know exactly what would happen when, all the steps involved, etc. The living room of my house had major water damage due to a leak before I bought, when the house was vacant. Dusty and his crew tore out the old floor, repaired several spots in the subfloor, and installed new white oak. They created a new "picture frame" around the fireplace that looks much better than the original, and a transition from the new to the old floor that turned out great as well. The rest of the first floor was refinished and Dusty was good at explaining what to expect in this regard too. Some other areas had been water damaged when the living room damage happened, and the crew was able to fix these up as well as possible. After the work was completed, Dusty invited me to call him if I had any questions at all. I didn't have additional questions at the time, but I'm confident if I do he will be very responsive and friendly as always. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dusty's Hardwood Floor Service.

Dusty and his brother were very professional and also showed the most detail and care in the work they do. They obviously love what they do and it really shows. We sought several estimates and they came back very fair and comparable to others, but their service and detail put them heads above every other company we talked to. It was an easy decision to make! I promise that if you choose this company for your wood floor care, you will not regret it. When we need our floors refinished again in a few years, we will continue to use Dusty. Dusty and his brother were clean-cut and very professional. They gave me an honest up front estimate and stuck to it. He offered some great advice that kept us from making a couple of huge mistakes. It was a pleasure working with them. I highly recommend using them for your flooring needs!!!

Originally I decided to go with a huge company in Lenexa, but when they balked at using a greener product to finish my floors, I decided to look at other options. I found Dusty's Hardwood Floor Service on Angie's List and I am glad I did. I have found working with Dusty to a pleasure. He is knowledgeable, professional, courteous and service driven. I am a 63 year old woman and this is my project. Can't tell you how many "little lady" comments I've gotten from other trade people. Dusty is not like that at all. Which, to me, is quite a joy. Because there are several other things to be done in this area, we agreed that Dusty would cover the floor with protective paper and come back and finish the floor later. I want a very low VOC product and unlike most people, I want a matte finish that is easy to repair. I appreciate Dusty working with me to find the best solution. One product I thought I would use, Dusty thinks will muddy the beautiful grain of my quartersawn oak. I appreciate his eye for beauty and his desire to make the best floor possible for me. I'll report back when the floor is done. Am so looking forward to the finished product. ps Don't tell Dusty this, but his bid price was almost $4000 less and that was using the highest grade vs the character grade the floor company to the swells was going to charge me!

The job went great. Dusty was quicker than I expected and he managed several unexpected issues with the installation without changing the schedule (including having to unexpectedly put down a new subfloor and a power outage). The final floors look great. And contrary to Dusty saying he can see a color difference between the old and the new, the new floor looks like it has always been there (absolutely seamless) and I can't see any difference. Now I'm thinking more of the house need hardwood.

I called Dusty to get estimate on redoing our floors. He had Derek (his brother) come by the next day . Derek measured and explained their process from start to finish. Derek is very good but Dusty is the boss and calls all the shots. This seems to work very well for them and it shows. Dusty sent me (via email) a detailed estimate that night. The estimate was very competitive and included couple of options on finishes. I called Dusty and told him we wanted them to do the work. Dusty talked to me about when they could start and how long the job would take. They came over and started exactly when they said they would and finished almost a day ahead of their 3 day schedule they promised. These guy never left a mess and we hardly noticed any dust from their sanding. Dusty and Derek bottom line are real professionals from start to finish. friendly, courteous, punctual, and extremely knowledgeable about there trade. I would hire them again in a heartbeat. Our floors look great (5 stars) couldn't be happier and Dusty even gave me some tips on refinishing a table I had.

Dusty was very prompt in getting back to us for the estimate and any other times that we contacted him. They came when they said they would, and Dusty kept us informed on what they were going to do each day. They were very neat and cleaned up each day and when the job was finished. He answered all our questions completely and professionally. We are very happy with they work they did and thought the cost was reasonable. We would definitely recommend him and would use him again.

Dusty came out and gave us an estimate for hardwood and was very professional and honest about everything regarding potential hardwood installation. In the end, we have decided to go with tile floors and when I called him back a few months later to ask if he did tile installation he immediately referred me to tile companies and even offered to call one on my behalf to see if they serviced our area. I really appreciated how he went above and beyond- especially when he didn't have to take the time for us. Thank you Dusty for all of your help and time!
