Description of Work: Our roof needed hail damage repair- the ceiling had some leakage around the fireplace and stained the ceiling. I decided to contract with Total Restoration. Total Restoration then subcontracted the work to Metro Roofing. That is when things went wrong. Metro Roofing showed up without notification to do the work when I wanted to be home. The work involved removing and re-installing two skylights. Neither company communicated to me about the condition of the skylights. Metro poorly fabricated new uninsulated frames to hold the skylights where fridgid winter air poored in, froze, condensated and dripped- causing more damage to the ceiling than there was with the previous hail damage. It was actually raining in our great room onto our furniture. in addition, I had to call Total Home Restoration back in the fall when the roof leaked around the fireplace. They said they fixed it by adding additional caulkiing around the flashing.I found out this spring that it hadn't been done, or at least done correctly. Again- the roof leaked again after I had spent a couple hundred dollars and three weekends to fix the water damage from the hail damage, skylight condensation and subsequent flashing leaks. I had to reseal and repaint the ceiling again. The roof actually leaked worse after the roof was reshingled! I got back on the roof to review their caulking (the second time)- still inadequate. I ended up buying my own roofing patch and applying it to all corners, joiints, flashing and transitions- to make sure the leaks would be eliminated. I also don't like their use of plastic vents- their materials are cheap. I also had a billing issue with them- they tried to bill me directly instead of billing through Total Restoration. And to top it off- it was the wrong price and more than what I had negotiated with Total Restoration. I also counted several exposed nails while I was repairing their repairs...where they missed nailing them down under the tabs. Poor, poor workmanship and communication. If you chose Total Restoration and need roof repairs....do NOT let them use Metro Roofing. Use at your own risk.

+ -1 moreOverall, the work done was fairly well. I believe it only took them 2 or 3 days. Our roof is very steep and has several different levels, so was probably somewhat complicated. They were close to the lowest price quoted. There was quite a mess in the attic and inside the house, under a skylight. When I turned on the attic fan, debris fell from the attic. Also, though they cleaned up the yard, I was able to pick up more than a large handful of nails, staples, etc. Once the job was complete, I contacted them with some concerns. There was a storm right afterwards, which blew up some shingles also. They came and fixed the shingles, but never contacted me about my concerns or questions. I guess they just decided, that my concerns were unnecessary to address and neglected to inform me of their decision.
Description of Work: Removal of wood shingle roof on large 2-story house. Added plywood decking and new composite 30-year shingles.

+ -1 moreWhen I faxed them the signed contract they never called me and I had to call them to see if they wanted the business. After the job was complete, parts were not done properly and left pieces of materials in the yard that they didn't take with them. I had ask them to let me know when they were coming out to give an estimate so that I could be there but they didn't. My elderly father was home alone and it was very unsettling.
Description of Work: They completely tore off my old roof and re roofed the house.

+ -1 moreThey did a good job but didn't clean up in the evening when they left. In the back over by the garage, they left a big bin and didn't clean up the stuff from the evening. They finally cleaned it up. It looks like they did a good job, but there's something sticking up by the chimney. I asked him the other day to come out and look at it but haven't heard back from them. Otherwise, they did a great job. Jim is a delightful person to talk to.
Description of Work: They replaced our whole roof and tore off the old one. They also put a metal sheet around the fireplace to keep rodents and squirrels out.
