Patriot Heating & AC

The technician called before arriving (on time) at 8:45 am. Diagnosed the problem with the system as a bad condenser motor. He replace the motor in about 1 hour. Around 6:00 pm while doing some yard work, I heard the outside unit "pop". The fan stopped running so I shut everything down and called Patriot's main number. Jacob (owner) called me back and said he could come out and replace the motor that evening. I told him we could wait until Saturday morning. A few minutes after we hung up, he called back and said he did not feel comfortable waiting until Saturday and said he would like to come out that evening and fix the AC for me. He arrived about 45 minutes later. He found one of the motor wires had been pinched up against the motor bracket and would short out. He pulled the suspect motor out and replaced it with a new one. Checked everything out and even upgraded the warranty to two years for the inconvenience. Both Jacob and the tech who came out that morning were both very pleasant. It's not that someone made a mistake, it's what they did about their mistake. Good people and will use them again if the need arises.

They were very prompt and very professional explaining what needed to be done to get my AC working. I've hesitated a long time in writing this review because I'm torn. I payed to have the coolant recharged, but that didn't fix the problem. It was explained to me several times that the problem is my unit is to big for my house. That still doesn't make sense to me and I've since spoken to other HVAC people that have told me that couldn't be the problem. My unit is still working, knock wood, but I don't think it's because of the work they did. They made a couple of calls without charging me which was nice. The owner is a nice guy and very professional. I guess my problem is that I don't know enough about HVAC systems to know if I was treated fairly.

The owner, Jake, arrived early for the appointment, was his usual friendly, polite and professional self and did not only the HVAC service check but reinspected the water heater, etc. Jake has been my HVAC service guy for over 8 years and I have recommended him to all my friends and family in the area. He is one of the hardest working, most polite professional service people I have ever encountered and he never ceases to amaze me with his willingness and commitment to go above and beyond to take care of his customers. Before I had him replace my HVAC a few years ago, despite his recommendation for a couple years that I replace my system and my not doing so, he answered my panicked call late one night in the dead of summer when the AC went out. He put my needs above his own family's who were also needing their systems replaced/serviced around that time. He came well past reasonable business hours and he got that old system up and running and saved the day. He really cares about his customers. He stands behind his work and his warranties and he will do everything in his power to make things as economical, efficient and easy as possible for his customers having this type of work done. Jake's awesome and I wholeheartedly endorse him and his company as a top provider on Angie's List and anywhere else!

The service man was quick and honest. It was a small issue and it was not expensive. I would highly recommend Patriot Heating and AC.

I read the excellent review on patriot heating and AC, and decided to give then a call, after a serviceman from a home warranty company told us we needed a new furnace, when it was working fine. We called the warranty company because the water from the ac was leaking into the laundry room, and while the air was cold, it was not blowing out enough volume. It was obvious the warranty company serviceman did not really know how to fix the problem, and told us various things, as "oversized condenser unit", and then told his company a cracked heat exchanger, and blower motor bearings were bad. He did not realize I had just had this furnace worked on and then serviced again by two separate companies, so I knew he was not telling the truth to the warranty company. Apparently, he gets more money if its a bigger repair, so it is in his benefit to say we need a new furnace, However, he is a maintenance man, not a bonified trained heating and AC person. I quickly went to Angies list looking for a smaller company with a good review history, and found Patriot. The owner promptly answered the phone on Saturday, and said he could come out first thing Monday morning. He quickly diagnosed it with a dirty and very clogged AC coil, and found the maintenance man had overfilled the Freon when he came out, and did not fix the leak. The repair was less than the amount I would have to pay for the bogus"modifications " fee the warranty company was going to charge me for a furnace I did not need, to be installed by an unqualified "maintenance man" . I did not know this about the home warranty company, so I will not recommend them, but Patriot saved the day, because I was selling the home and closing in a week, and there was not much time to spare to fix the issue before closing. I highly recommend them for the honesty and professionalism, and will use them for my home in the future.

Another company that did our preventive servicing for 10 years discovered the problem with our air conditioner. They gave us a quote to repair the system or three options to replace the entire home HVAC system. We didn't get our questions answered regarding the unit options they offered like we hoped they would which forced us to look else where. We wanted to compare prices with other companies. We found Patriot on Angie's List and made an appointment. Jacob came out and presented himself in a highly professional manner. He showed my wife his business license, insurance certificate and his Master Technician qualifications up front before he provided any estimates. My wife was totally impressed with Jacob's thorough presentation. I arrived after he provided his price quotations for three system options. As I asked my questions, Jacob voluntarily answered many more questions that I had from reading a Consumer Report article on How to Pick an HVAC company to do our work. We selected this company after a brief discussion later in the day after I researched their equipment on the Rheem website. This is something I wasn't able to do on the Trane website. Jacob set up the installation appointment for a week later. He even called after three days and asked if we had any questions and if we were still comfortable with our decision. That added confidence in our decision. Jacob and his brother Zack showed up on time, started the removal, and unit installations. The job was done in five and a half hours. When they were done, they showed us their work inside and out. Jacob explained how the new unit would operate and what to expect that was different than the units we previously had in the house. They thoroughly cleaned up the mess inside and out. They wore boot covers any time they walked on the floors or carpets in the house. All boxes and old unit parts were removed from our property. At the end, we wrote our check and Jacob explained the warranty and their semi-annual Service Agreement to us. We are thrilled at the result of this purchase as well as our selection of Patriot Heating A/C and Plumbing to change out our furnace and air conditioner. We look forward to having them perform the seasonal preventive servicing of our new units. We will also use them for our plumbing needs. We will gladly be a reference for Patriot any time they ask.

My reason for contacting Patriot Heating and Cooling was because my air conditioner stopped working the summer of 2012. After obtaining several bids, I went with Patriot Heating and Cooling because he was the lowest of all of them (some were almost twice Jacob's bid) but still promised quality products and installation. Jacob was very professional and informative. It turned out that my air conditioner was too small for the size of my house and, at 16 years old, was well beyond being efficient. Although my furnace was still working, I decided it would be more cost effective in the long run to replace both at the same time and gain some efficiency on my furnace as well. Jacob explained everything that was included in his bid and why he chose certain products (he uses American made products). He discussed several options and explained the pros and cons of each to help me decide the best option for me. Jacob was prompt and the installation went smoothly. Since then, I have had considerable savings on my energy bills and am among the most efficient in my neighborhood (per my KCP&L report). I have a maintenance plan with Jacob and he continues to be personable, professional and prompt. I would and have highly recommended him to everyone I know.

After discovering that our 7 year old Amana Heat Pump was literally falling apart and that the previous company who installed it did NOT file our 10 year warranty, we were faced with an expensive repair. We knew that the furnace was 21 plus years old so we wanted to receive bids on replacing both heat and a/c. We received several bids, and decided that Jacob (Patriot Heating and A/C) provided best information. Jacob is the Owner and was prompt, courteous and professional. The highest bid came from a well known larger company and was nearly double our costs with the installation of an inferior product at lower efficiency ratings. This company used high pressure sales techniques, did not leave any literature or pricing for our later review, as well as spending two hours in our home for the bid and sell process! Jacob installed Rheem units, known for high quality and higher efficiency ratings at thousands less. From the start Jacob provided smart literature and even included a Consumer Reports listing Rheem 2nd only to American Standard for repair needs and parts. (York and Goodman were rated at the bottom!) Jacob was on time and left pricing and literature for our review without overstating for staying to long! Jacob called the morning of the installation and was on time. Jacob and his technician installed both the Rheem units in the six hour time period originally scheduled. They were careful to wear shoe covers inside and were neat, orderly and even friendly with our Boston Terrier, Annie. Jacob also provided the complete paperwork on the Rheem 10 year warranties for both parts and labor, which is an excellent warranty backed by an excellent service company! We give Jacob with Patriot Heating and A/C and A++!

I called Patriot Heating on a Sunday afternoon, 1/26/14, and Jacob answered my call. I explained what was happening with my thermostat and Jacob advised me of a couple of things I could try to avoid a service call. I followed his recommendations and they didn't work. He advised me that he could come that day to check out the thermostat and switch it out if needed. I requested he come out for a service call and he came, performed the diagnostics and changed out the thermostat at my request. He taught me how to use my new thermostat. Additionally, Jacob changed out my furnace filter for no additional charge. He was professional and courteous and an absolute pleasure to have in my home doing repairs! I would recommend Patriot Heating and Jacob unconditionally!

18 months following furnace installation, everything is still running great!

Jacob was very thorough and organized in explaning what was needed for our home. He arrived at our home at the prescribed time and completed the job by himself in about three hours. He also offered us some additional energy saving tips. The original furnace was not available so he installed a larger furnace of the same brand at no additional cost.

I appreciated their honesty and the suggestion to check to see if it was covered under warranty. They seemed to be knowledgeable, very polite and straight-forward. There was nothing negative with them.

Jacob is very polite and efficient. He was able to come the same day, was on time, diagnosed the problem quickly and made the necessary repairs. He gave me alternate choices to save me money with imported parts or use American made parts with a longer warranty. I liked that and was willing to pay a little more. I highly recommend.

Our furnace went out on one of the coldest days in years, I called patriot from my work and Jacob answered and said he could be at my house in 30 mins.

The senior technician/owner was very professional and provided a much more through check up on my boiler than my previous provider. I would definitely use him again as he was very knowledgeable regarding boilers. I plan to have him out again this spring to discuss options for ductless air conditioning a solution for homeowners who have older homes with no duct work. He is also experienced and knowledgeable in this area as well and told me that he would be willing to provide a free assessment and plan which would allow me to junk the window units I currently have which suck electrical power.

Jacob did a great job on my furnace and also noticed a pipe leaking while he was working on furnace. Since then Jacob has come back to my home and done several repairs for me. He is a professional young man and I would definitely hire to do other projects in my home.

Jacob was able to provide the service the following day of my call. He was right on time and very professional and personable. The price was great and will definitely use him again.

Jacob was very prompt when I called because our furnace wasn't working. I called at 7:30 and he made it by 9:30. He explained everything that he was doing, and didn't try to sell me on things I didn't need. He provided great work, and comes highly recommended. I will use him again in the future.

My furnace quit last night and I woke up to a cold house. I called 6 HVAC places from the Angie's List catalogue and Patriot had the best price on service calls. Before even scheduling, they suggested I check to see if my furnace was still under warranty with the company who installed it. (It wasn't.) I called them back and they were out within just a couple hours. Fortunately it was an easy fix and Jake got my furnace back up and running. I was so impressed with their customer service that I signed up to have annual tune ups done on my a/c & furnace next year. Thanks, Patriot!

The gentleman was very punctual, very friendly and knowledgeable, and did a good job with the repairs. His price was in line with other companies, too. Ultimately, the air conditioner is doing just fine, and we have no complaints.

I have had several other companies out to provide an estimate, with prices ranging from $5700(Patriot) per system to almost $10,000 (Anthony) per system. I went with Patriot because they were not only the least expensive, but they also were the only ones that we providing me options based upon the expected time I was going to be in the house and the current usage and price patterns. Every other company seemed focused on installing higher levels of efficiency regardless of payback. In summary, they helped me make the best choice with my preferences in mind, not theirs. They replaced the units in a single day and their team was prompt and courteous. They have been out since then to do the semi-annual tuneup and even repaired a humidifier that they did not install. Another example of their conscientiousness: a couple of companies wanted to replace my humidifiers (and thermostats) simply to go with newer equipment. They are a newer, smaller organization and have less overhead (thus costs), but seem to have all of the skills to remain in business and are committing to making the first customers happy.

It turned out great. I was referred to them by another friend. They have overall just done a great job. They made sure I got a quality product, and I appreciate that.

It has been great. I have never had any issues with them. They are very punctual, and they are there when they say they are going to be there. They stick to the quotes they give you. I have a service warranty with them. He encourages American made products and I think that is great.

We had previously called another company, you know, the one you can leave your keys with, but they never came to the house to even get the keys. We waited 3 days in the heat and they kept putting us off, or not even knowing anything about us. So we called Patriot at 2:00pm and they came promptly at 5:00pm. Jacob is so courteous and so efficient. We will tell our friends and relatives about Patriot.

Called to make a appointment, and he was able to come out that day! Showed up on time. We showed him the problems that our inspectors had told us to look into. He then explained everything to use very thoroughly, and gave up a decent quote. We will defiantly go back to this company in the future.
