Fratzel Plumbing

We had a very negative experience with Matt Fratzel, and his one and only plumber, Kurt, that he sent to do some of the work. Matt told us his employee was "slow, but good". One problem we had was that not only was he slow, he also did not repair things correctly the first time. We had multiple repeat leak issues after the problem was addressed once or twice before by either Matt or Kurt, which caused further damage to the house (ceiling below in one case), and which we had to pay for! Matt made no effort to compensate us for the damages, and was quick to charge us all of the time spent, even though the work was poorly performed, and in his words "slow". It felt like a money grab to us. One of the primary reasons we hired Fratzel was to go through the entire house and fix any and all plumbing issues so that we could say the house had a clean bill of health. This was a Foreclosure house and had various plumbing problems throughout, so it gave Matt a chance to prove himself in many areas of plumbing. Relying on Matt to do this was a huge mistake, because it cost us our credibility with buyers and buyer's agents when we went to sell the house. It wasn't until the Inspector caught the worst problem with the leaky tub, that we really felt this. Matt's response was, "I am really sorry about this, I hope I never run into a project like this again, this is a project I will never forget". I guess it made him feel better about his services by pointing out the obvious that he and his plumber did a very poor job. As the owner of a home rehab business, I can say that what we asked him to fix were normal plumbing issues, nothing out of the ordinary. One would think that a leaky drain line under a kitchen sink would be something that a competent plumber should be able to easily fix, but that wasn't the case here, and we found out the hard way. Dealing with this plumber was easily one of the worst experiences I have had with any contractor I have ever worked with, and that spans nearly 25 years. Not only was the work done very poorly, but the backend communications and billing were also a very negative experience. Buyer beware if you decide to hire this plumber, so that you do not encounter what we did.

They are very responsive, locally owned, small business with a master plumber. Typically their pricing is less than that of the larger plumbing outfits that advertise. They are a good word of mouth reference. They were recommended to me by the plumber's friend, who is a large wholesale parts distributor here in Kansas City. They are very customer focused and I have been using them for many years. I have always been satisfied and I would highly recommend them.

I called Matt based on a recommendation from the plumbing supply company. When I called, Matt happened to be at another job just a couple of miles from my house and was able to send his associate to meet my husband promptly at our house within the hour. We needed someone to take our shower trim kit off and photograph the cartridge inside to send to the plumbing supply company. The plumber he sent was very nice and professional, but he was only there for about a half hour and had traveled just a few minutes to get to our house, but we were charged $130 for the visit, with no repairs or any real work being performed. I thought this was a ridiculously high cost, but I was informed that they have a $50.00 trip charge and a minimum hourly rate. Needless to say, I should have inquired about this upfront, but since they were recommended and we were in a hurry to get the cartridge ordered, I neglected to get the pricing when we initially spoke. I won't make this mistake again.

Matt and his co-worker Ethan are the best plumbers we have used hands-down. Always communicate back to us immediately and are always prompt and responsive. After calling them initially, they were able to come over to the house within a day and perform work same day on a remodel project on our backyard. We were so happy with the work and service, had them install a backup sump pump and fix an issue with our water heater as well. Great staff and just really nice people that you would trust in your home. Wish all contractors were like this.

The provider was very responsive and was able to acess the situation quickly. The hose for the bathroom sink had to be ordered which took some time however the provider was spot on with the timeframe it would take to order the part. The bathtub was able to be fixed the same day. I have used Fratzel plumbing for several years now and have always been pleased with their work. They are very price competitive, much less expensive than the big guys who advertise on TV yet able to accomplish complex plumbing jobs in an old house.

He is very customer focused. He is a small business that does not have the cost of advertising, he only goes by word of mouth. He is excellent and his price is much more reasonable than most. I find him very professional and appreciative of the customer and opportunity for business. His work is excellent, as well.

Matt came highly recommended by a good friend of ours. Although I chose another bidder for this job, Fretzel Plumbing will be on my shortlist for a remodel bid in the near future.

I am just thrilled with their work. Matt Fratzel actually called to make sure that we were satisfied with their service and to check if there were any problems. They are an exceptional company.
