C & C Concrete Construction LLC

The front porch was a small project and the backyard was not accessible to a backhoe or other machines so had to be excavated by hand and the concrete was brought to the backyard in wheel barrows. Many of the contractors that I contacted wouldn't even give me a bid because they didn't want the job. C&C Concrete is located in Manhattan and they drove in every day. The first day they had planned to start at 9am, but called at 8am to say they would be late -- he had to arrange childcare for his children and stop in Lawrence. They started around noon and left at 4:30pm that day On Tuesday, they again came later but worked until dark and I had hopes of getting the job done on the 3rd day. He actually called the Concrete company to pour at 1pm -- but then had to cancel because they were no where near ready. I don't think they excavated deep enough and mentioned to them. He told me there was already compressed gravel in place from the previous job -- I assured him there had never been concrete there and he should place the 4" of compressed gravel. He assured me there would be a 4" base. They next day he brought a trailer full of 'asphalt base' -- but it wasn't well milled and had big pieces of tar paper and chunks of asphalt --- I'm probably giving too many details. I was not content with the base they placed. The next day they called a concrete company he had previously told me provided inferior concrete -- but he had to use them because no one else was availalbe. He was still not ready to pour when the truch arrived and it sat in the street for 45mins. They poured the front porch and then started moving the concrete to the back. They had only smoothed about 3 wheelbarrels ful when the concrete became too hot to work with. The next day they spent using sledge hammers to break out the concrete in the back. The day after that, they called the same concrete company and added extra water to the concrete to keep it from getting too hot. They got the job finished, set sod and did a great job cleaning up the work site. But it has been several weeks and I don't like the inconsistancy in the broom finish, a workboot footprint left in the concrete and a almost imperceptible slope in the back patio (between where they sawed the first pour and the second pour), it frequently causes me to stumble. During the bid, I was told that a stone step would be removed and then re-set on top of the newly poured concrete. After the project was started, they said they did not realize the step was multiple stones just help together with sand and they would just excavate to pour concrete beneath the step. I obviously misunderstood what was said and assumed they would excavate the whole patio a full 8" to pour the patio under the step (which would have been best for drainage as well) They only excavated maybe 3" and then poured 4" on top of the asphalt and stone fill. They dug under the step an inch or so and pour some concrete under the front edge of the step, but then poured concrete that came up 2" on the step so it is now a 4" step instead of a matching 6" for the two steps above. I will admit I'm a tough customer to please and this company has great employees -- very nice, easy to talk to. Just not sure the distance from Lawrence to OP was a smart idea.

They would not even give me an estimate or respond to email. Maybe not a big enough job for them.

We now have the best-looking driveway in town! Chad and his crew did a great job in spite of challenges with extreme heat and torrential rains. The entire crew was very professional and trustworthy. They really take pride in their work! They did everything as specified in the contract plus several little extras. Chad is a good communicator and kept me up-to-date as to what was going on throughout the entire project. They also put away their equipment each evening and cleaned up the yard when they were finished. I really appreciate the advice that Chad gave me regarding this and other projects. I recommend C&C Concrete without reservation for any concrete work.

Excellent work! It went better than I expected. Chad and his crew arrived at the time when he told me and stayed late both days. The work was meticulous. Chad skillfully inserted the expansion joints and they were all straight. The center expansion joint running all the way from the garage to the street and curved was expertly done by Chad. I called four contractors for bids. All four came out. The first did not provide a bid after several phone calls. Chad came out twice. I could have gone a little cheaper but I am glad I went with Chad.

When we puchased our house 2 years ago, the driveway had large cracks, areas of thick concrete which were raised and overlapping, and areas of crumbling concrete. The damage in some areas was moct likely caused by a garbage truck used to empty a dumpster full of manure, but other areas suggested the original work was of poor quality in general. Chad, the owner, gave us a bid which was slightly higher than a few other bids, but he was willing to do the job in two parts so that we would never be without an area to drive/park while the work was performed. He also offered the addition of fibers to strengthen the concrete, and worked with a superior product (in our opinion). Chad was very professional, and honored his original bid even though we did not give him the go ahead until 3 months later. He even came back out to answer further questions before we accepted his bid. He was always very responsive to our questions and concerns. One of our main concerns was damage to the new concrete from the dumpster removal truck. To prevent this, we put in 50 feet of 8 inch concrete rather than the standard 4 inch concrete. This would allow the dumpster truck to back in and empty the dumpster which we moved up from the barn. Both Chad and his crew of workers were friendly, hard working, polite, neat and conscientious. The work was completed to our satisfaction. It was done during the winter, so there were a few delays while we awaited warmer weather so that the concrete could be poured. Since we were never without a place to park, the delays were easy to tolerate.

Initially contacted Chad late July, early August, to give me a bid. I contacted a total of 5 different companies I found on Angie's List. Received a bid from him on August 5th. Believe he came out a couple of days before I received his bid. Honestly, 4/5 bids were within a few hundred dollars of each other. One bid was $1000 more. So it was mostly a gut instinct, along with knowing someone who had used Chad before. His bid included a couple of options as well. I did choose to have him replace the top soil around all the new concrete. Worth it to me since I have a bad back. One of my other bids included an option to widen my driveway 1.6 feet. I would never have thought of this. My driveway is a single car driveway, and in the rain, & snow, you had to watch out for muddy grass. Not sure why i didn't think of this. So I e-mailed Chad to come out and give me a bid to widen the same 1.6 feet. He said that he would do it for the same price as the other bid. Perfect! But i didn't want him to do the work until mid-October. He was ok with this since he was a month out anyways. I picked October 19th as the start date. At 7 that morning, I noticed several pick ups sitting out front. Chad showed up right on time with the Bobcat at 7:30. After a quick chat, they were off to work. I was amazed at how fast things progressed. By the time I left for work an hour later, they were half done with the removal. At lunch, they were spreading the new gravel base. By the time I got home from work, it was ready for concrete. Day 2 came early. They were pouring concrete by 7. By the time I got home for lunch, they were just finishing pouring the last few feet of my driveway. They had just left my house when I got home from work about 4:45 on day 2. It looked amazing! I I did wait 9 days to drive on the driveway. They suggest 7-9 days. He said i could after 7 since i have a small car, but what is 2 more days. I had to wait 2 days before walking on it. I am very please with how the whole process went. I was most impressed with the fact that Chad was there working right along with his workers. Knee deep in concrete!! The concrete company did knock over the street light at the end of my driveway. No biggie, but Chad was very apologetic. Not his fault at all, but i appreciated his apology. No other hiccups occurred. 3 weeks later, I am happier than ever. It looks amazing! Thank you, Chad! I will absolutely recommend you to anyone needing concrete work.

It went well. Everyone on the crew seemed very nice, and were HARD WORKERS in my opinion. They showed up early. One day when it was still dark out, and worked non stop. I love my new sidewalk and wish I would have gotten it years ago. He went over how I wanted it, and told me any pluses or minus's to what I wanted. Driveway looks great and Chad removed and hauled off some railroad ties for me for 75.00, which was a great plus for us. Cleaned up everything very well. It has not been long enough setting for me to use the driveway yet, but it will be nice. Also used his bobcat to move my gravel in lower part of driveway around to smooth it out so I don't have any ruts in it like it did before. Its just kind of hard to get a hold of him as he works on the jobs too, and they are busy, but if you email or leave a message, he will call you.

Chad's crew showed up as promised and began work immediately. They were very thorough with the job and were in and out in a day's time. When originally scheduled the job was to be done much later. However, Chad had a day come available and was nice enough to fit me in.

This is the second time I have used C&C Concrete Construction. They came when promised with a full crew and all the equipment needed to do the job efficiently. The work was done in one day and it came out perfect. They used a very high quality concrete which contains crushed granite rock rather than limestone. Everyone on the crew seemed to be an expert at what they were doing. Their attention to even the smallest detail was amazing. When finished they cleaned up everything. As with the first time they did a job for me, the finished product is without even the slightest imperfection. After they removed a layer of dirt they added a bed of crushed rock and compacted it with a machine. They then put down steel reinforcement and then poured the concrete. After the concrete set they removed the forms and added top soil to fill in around all the edges. I couldn't ask for a better job. People have remarked about how nice it looks. Before the work was done Chad explained what they would do, and he gave me a written contract listing exactly what was to be done and the price. He did not ask for money until the job was finished. The contract stated that they would take care of any necessary permits and that they had liability insurance. In making the arrangements the office staff was knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. C&C is a family owned business. They remembered me from the work they did several years ago and they treated me as a friend. I recommend C&C Concrete Construction highly and will always use them when I need concrete work done.

Chad and his team did an excellent job. They were professional and knew what they were doing. They arrived on time and had the entire job completed in two days! Excellent work, especially the concrete finishing! We have received several positive reactions, and have passed our recommendations on to friends and family. We will definitely use them again.

Chad's team replaced my driveway and I wanted to wait a few months in case there were any issues. Anyways. Chad and his team were very professional. Chad clearly communicated the process and the expectations were for the job. If I had any questions or comments Chad or his team got back to me immediately. I would definitely recommend and use Chad in the future.

Chad's team did an excellent job replacing our driveway, garage floor, and front sidewalk, and adding a new sidewalk in the side yard. We couldn't be happier with both the results and Chad and his team's very professional and friendly customer service skills. Chad provided very helpful and welcomed advice during course of the project. Also, even though we requested some custom design elements, they happily accommodated our wishes. Please note that we elected to use the microfiber strengthening additive that Chad provides as an option. Excellent decision. After 10 months of the cold of winter, the heat of summer, and lots and lots of rain... the combination of Chad's team's hard work and the microfibers has resulted in no cracks and no settling of the concrete! Amazing!

Chad and his crew did a great job, started Tuesday and finished Friday with one day being rained out. They were prompt,courteous, did a great job cleaning up and our new driveway is beautiful! Chad was so easy to work with and was onsite each day.

The transaction went very smoothly. Louis was on time and strived to do high quality work. The driveway looks so much better. I would recommend this company to my friends.

We had Chad Pratter of C&C Concrete Construction, LLC (NOT to be confused with C&C Concrete Specialists) give us a bid for concrete replacement of our driveway pad, a poured & stamped patio, replacement of front sidewalk and a front porch foundation/slab prior to starting construction of our new front porch in February 2014. Due to several issues getting the porch project rolling we did not end up using C&C at that time because the contractor who built the porch did the foundation & front sidewalk himself. Our porch project finally finished mid November of 2014. In March of 2015 we decided we were ready to again get bids on the driveway pad replacement & a stamped patio. We called several concrete contractors including C&C again. Everyone that came out was mortified by the sidewalk replacement that had been installed by our previous porch contractor. They all gave us a bid to not only do the drive & patio but to replace the sidewalk again. After reviewing the bids & talking extensively with Chad we decided to go with C&C. Chad was very easy to talk to & we were very excited that he was not only able to honor his price from the prior year but we also liked some of his ideas & his plans for replacing the sidewalk. Then the rain set in............ after 3 rain delay's we finally got our new driveway, sidewalk & stamped patio in early June 2015. They are beautiful! Chad & his crew were very professional & friendly. His crew has been with him many years so that says a lot about him. Chad was on site every day. They did a great job cleaning up each day, were careful to protect any existing landscaping & structures. They even did a couple extra's for us like straightening out the remaining gravel in the driveway where we did not extend the concrete & leveling a portion of the front yard near the new sidewalk where a tree had been removed earlier. I would highly recommend C&C Concrete Construction, LLC to anyone. We plan to use them again when we have the funds to extend our rather long drive on out to the street.

Work began on Monday. The crew worked hard and fast, trying to beat the rain. It was a muddy mess by the end of the day. Rained out on Tuesday. Wednesday thru Saturday work went well between rains. The driveway was completed on Monday, as was promised the work took only a week. Not counting the rain out day. The crew was friendly and careful of the yard and landscape. They cleaned up all their supplies and equipment. They did a fantastic job.

Very professional from start to finish. Chad was very responsive in the bidding process and laid out a detailed plan for the project. The crew showed up promptly and were very efficient. The cleaned up nicely at the end of each day. You could tell that they cared about doing a quality job. The entire project was great from start to finish.

I was skeptical about Angie?s List and was ready to hire my own concrete company based on recommendations from friends and neighbors. However, my decision changed based on recommendations from this list, and after I did extensive due diligence. I will only add a couple of comments to the other fine things said about C&C. First, I learned C&C is the only concrete company in Kansas City that requires granite instead of limestone in their concrete. Granite is harder rock and more expensive, but your concrete will be higher quality and last longer. I also had fibers added to the mix for the same reason. Second, I called the Marketing Rep for one of the oldest and largest Ready-Mix companies in town and asked for his recommendation. Although he declined to give me a recommendation because he sells concrete to virtually all concrete companies in Kansas City, I did learn the owner of the Ready-Mix company had hired C&C to do work for him. I did experience one small hiccup. C&C broke an expensive light fixture when they were replacing my driveway. However, they accepted complete responsibility and promptly reimbursed me within 2 days. I highly recommend them.

It went really well. Chad is very on top of things.

The end product is nice BUT I have some disappointments as follow. Before the work was done I had pointed out to Chad some bricks where the patio would meet a side wall of our garage because the bricks in the wall were disintegrating and I asked if they should be replaced before the work was done. He said "No, they will be covered by concrete anyway" which in fact did not occur and now those bricks continue their flaking apart and will be difficult to replace. Also, Chad added a step at the top of the driveway where it meets the sidewalk. If he had asked me I would have told him that I did not want a step so we would be able to accommodate wheeled devices when necessary. Two small areas of the decorative concrete have flaked off and I fear it will continue to worsen over time damaging the pretty surface.

Was prompt in scheduling a time to come out for an estimate. Was professional and courteous.

Showed up when they said they would. Did a OUTSTANDING job on the drive-way. No cracks or flaking to this date. kept the site clean and were done on time

They did a very good job with the new driveway. Their price was competitive with the other estimates I received. I would highly recommend them. The provider even went above and beyond to add a drain to one of my window wells to prevent it from filling it up with water. He put concrete around the well and grated it.

Amazing! These guys have worked together for a long while, and it shows. The job was started and finished exactly as promised, on time and with the attention to detail you don't see much these days. I recommend them without reservation.
