Yard of the Month is a unique lawn mowing company in that we strictly use small push mowers to cut your grass.. No giant machines tearing up your grass. We mow for several houses that have received Prairie Village's Yard/Home of the Month award.. Most yards 25.00-30.00
They were pretty reliable up until the last time they came. I have been trying to get a bill out of them. I have called them several times to tell them that I owe them money and that I would also like to talk to them about a couple of things, one was I wanted to get the price for doing the leaves and the other was the last time they came their guys put a bunch of bags upfront. They have never done that before. They usually take what they do. They took bags upfront with our permission. We don’t have the pickup service. They have never returned my calls. I owe them $60. They have not called me back. Those bags sat there for weeks and finally today we had leaf pickup and I got it out. I don’t know if they are out of business. They still answer the business lines and they answer with their business name and things like that. I would probably not use them. I haven’t been able to get a hold of them.

It went very poorly. They did a very poor job mowing, with the 2-man crew literally running up and down the yard with hand mowers, trying to get the job done as fast as possible, leaving the grass very tall, many areas uneven/ragged and they did not bag the clippings or trim the edges or weeds, despite agreeing to do so. The lawn looked worse after they worked than before. Billing was a haphazard affair, with a handwritten, often illegible, notice dropped into our mailbox after each visit. There did not seem to be any record kept of when we paid and when we hadn't. We attempted to contact the owners, Adam and Ben, to address the problem, but they did not answer their phone and their voice mailbox was full. The following week, they mowed our neighbor's yard, right next door, but not ours, with no communication or explanation. Again, we tried to contact them but were unable to do so due to a full voice mail box and nobody answering the phone. We were forced to stop the crew cutting our neighbor's lawn and tell them we wanted to cancel our service. The crew shrugged their shoulders, and 2 days later, a different crew showed up and began to mow our lawn. We went out and told them to stop, as we had canceled our service, and they said they had not been told. Subsequent phone messages left with the company did not receive a response, though they did try to bill us (with a printed bill stuck in our mailbox) for the partial work done after we had canceled our service. Their hiring ads on the web tell the story of their priorities -- "Adam and Ben" take 70% of the money, leaving a very tiny portion to the crews actually doing the labor, so they are encouraged to do each job as rapidly as possible. "We offer a 30% commission on each yard or 15% commission for 2 man crew. 2 man crews with very tight routes to maximize profits." is what I found posted in one of their employment ads on the internet. They are the most unprofessional and disorganized company I have ever encountered, and I advise avoiding them at all costs.
Description of Work: We hired them for weekly lawn mowing and edging services because our next door neighbor was using them.
