BRENT'S ELECTRIC

I have known the owner of this company for many years and he has a good reputation for quality work and experience in all types of electrical work. This is what anyone in Pittsburg will tell you and it is true. He quoted this job on the phone as being $60 an hour plus materials. I did not have any problem with that based on his reputation. HOWEVER he was on vacation when the pool was ready to be hooked up. His daughter is also part of this business. She impressed me at first with the speed in which she installed the conduit into the trench leading to the pool. I really thought she had her fathers work ethic at that point and we even discussed work ethics and the younger generation. She likes to talk and will do so for hours on end with anyone and everyone at your job site. She talked to the city building inspector for over an hour and I paid for that. For $60. an hour I expected that she would know how to properly ground a pool. IT IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE! I was also billed for at least 3 additional hours while she supposedly searched the town for a waterproof timer. I would think that she would have the electrical suppliers numbers stored in her cell phone. There are 3 in town within 3 miles! Where I really started to feel gouged was when I got the bill for the materials. I realize that contractors have to add on a percentage for handling and administrative costs. What I was charged was the retail price plus 25%, while I expect that they get a good discount for themselves from the supplier. In summary, a $150 dollar timer cost me $200. Plus the 3 hours for her to get it at $60. an hour for a total of $380. I called the owner when he got back from vacation and really expected some sort of compromise or discount for this situation. He did not see my point and became defensive and that is fine. I will not do business with them again.
