U-HAUL CENTER OF METCALF

6 hours before heading out from KCMO to Portland Oregon we came to this UHaul to pick up a reserved 5x8 trailer we had reserved. To our horror we disdcovered that the electrilcal connection on our tow bar had been damaged while off-roading. Talk about a full scale Panic Attack! We were initially told that if we could find the part, that the earliest we could get it installed by Uhaul would be tomorrow, because of work load and short-staffing. We drove like banshees to a local Nissan Dealership where we were able ,through the greatest of luck,to get the part- a small miracle, but the earliest appt Nissan service could install it was "sometime next week". In desperation we returned to Uhaul and were able to get it installed. SETH (one of the Uhaul Staff) worked through his lunch break to take care of us. The other staff members were also understanding and accommodating I was pretty floored by the positive attitude of the entire staff- Seth in particular, it would have been so easy to stick to next day installation, leaving us stranded before heading out to Oregon, an 1800 mile drive.Most of our hotel accommodations enroute were pre-paid and non-refundable... to say we were in a state of desperation would be an understatement! We were not charged a labor/installation fee as a "courtesy". THAT'S the understatement of the year!!! I can recommend the UHAUL business at 7740 Metcalf in Overland Park- these are great people! Seth should get a raise and an employee of the year award,seriously. Fantastic service,beyond what would be expected. Great job! Thank Seth and everyone else.

I rented it from a location in Lowlie, California and dropped it off in a location here on Metcalf at Shawnee Mission. The manager was the one that checked me in at the Shawnee Mission location, and he was very friendly. The trailer was due in Friday night. I took it back Saturday morning, and he waived the overnight due because it was only a couple of hours late which was really nice of him. I think their price is a little expensive for a trailer. I would definitely use them again in the future.

UHAUL provided me keys and checked me out into an unlocked and running rental truck. I drove the truck to my house where I locked the truck in my driveway for security. 30 minutes later when I went to unlock the truck, the keys that UHAUL supplied me did not unlock the truck! I called UHAUL immediately, and they said that they would send someone there right away. 1 hour and 30 minutes later the UHAUL guy shows up at my door with another set of keys that do not work and an assortment of slim jims to jimmy the lock. It took the UHAUL guy 50 minutes and a considerable effort to open the lock. When I returned the truck, I spoke with the Manager about a refund of my rental fee. I told him I'd gladly pay the miles on the truck, but that I should be granted a rental refund. The manager said no way I'd get any kind of refund on anything. I was not happy with the unreasonable hard line the manager took and the slow emergency service response. I will NEVER rent from UHAUL again.

The business and transaction was just fine. I do think that this is true everywhere, but the advertising of renting a truck for $19.95 per day is a myth and misleading. The basic truck is that price, but what they don't tell you in the ads is that the price per mile is $0.79 cents per mile, which adds up, let me tell you, so you do have to figure that carefully into your budget. Also, you must figure in your budget to fill the tank up before you return it as well. The business itself is fine. Staff is nice, trucks were clean and ready to go. Just be sure to plan your budget for gas and a per mile basis so you don't get surprised when you are paying your bill.

EMPLOYEES WERE POLITE & EFFICIENT. HOWEVER, RATE WAS MISQUOTED ON PHONE & U-HAUL DID NOT HONOR QUOTED AMOUNT. EQUIPMENT WORKED FINE BUT TRUCK SMELLED OVERWHELMINGLY OF CIGARETTES.

THEY HELPED US CHOOSE THE RIGHT SIZE TRUCK IN A TIMELY FASHION. THEY WERE POLITE AND THE MEN WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL.
