When the tubes arrived, Sam promptly installed them. He knew exactly how to do it so there would be no leaks in the roof. We could not be happier with our new solar lighting system. Our dining room and kitchen had been very dark for some time. Now we keep thinking that there must be a light on in the room. Every time I go to leave the house on a sunny day I check to see if the lights are turned off. A big advantage that solatubes have over skylights is they defuse the light over a wide area instead of making a shaft of light in one place. Also, the sun doesn't shine in our eyes like a skylight can.

I am very happy with the solar tubes; they let in more light. Sam had to come a couple of different times. One time he was late, however, he did apologize and he made up for it. One light had to go through the roof and a bedroom to the family room. For that light he had to build a box in the bedroom, which he also painted to match (it looks nice). To build the box, he had to move one of the electrical outlets. To do that, he had to turn off the electricity. At the electrical panel, nothing was marked. Sam worked extra with me to see where everything was and labeled the electrical panel for me for free. The extra effort definitely made up for him being late.

Once again, they were wonderful, and I would definitely recommend them to anyone. We did a lot of research on different types of solar lighting. This brand was by far the most efficient. One of them we put a light inside and there is no shadow whatsoever due to the tube bouncing the light around. I work under the light all the time, and it is brilliant and has no shadows in the room. Because of the bouncing light rays, you don't need a direct shot. They can bend the tubing to access areas you would not think would be accessible. The collector on the roof is designed like a lighthouse lens, so that you pick up the earliest and latest rays of light from the day, regardless of where the sun is in the sky. I am so happy with this system!

It's been great. I come out in what used to be a dark living room. Now my living room is bright. I had one put in my kitchen as well.

We met Sam Kane at a remodeling show a year prior to starting our building project. Subsequently, at his business, Sam welcomed us at two drop-in visits to evaluate our floor plan and make recommendations on lighting via solar tubes. We fortunately found him there rather than at a job site. I am sorry that our architect did not visit his showroom; the various examples of lighting and ventilation were amazing. As previously stated, we had a new construction and our builder did the install. The solar lighting was in place when the electrician was connecting switches, and even though he knew it was a solar light, he laughed at himself for trying to locate a switch to turn the light off before he left our job site. The carpenters, painter, and plumber were also duly impressed with the available light from the solar source. The builder indicated he will use them in his next home and encourage others to use Solatube. I must admit that even after living there seven months, I still find myself double checking to see if the "lights" are turned off. We built a 1100 ft house with a lot of windows in undeveloped farm land, and felt we could only afford to start with two light tubes. One is located in the windowless bathroom, and the other is in the back hallway where the laundry center is located. The Solatube brand product is far superior to competitors and is worth the price, but not inexpensive. Product wise we made a mistake of using an additional exhaust fan / heater fixture in the bathroom. We could have incorporated the solar fixture with the vent. Total dollar wise it would probably have been about the same. We are adding a third tube now, this one with an internal light, in our computer area. I would love to have one with an internal light in our walk-in closet and another in our basement stairs. ...Maybe later. Sam continues to sportively work with us as our needs and desires arise.
