Description of Work: Paul did some foundation repair in the inside and outside of my house to our stone foundation. He replaced mortar that had cracked and did an excellent job with matching the colors; you can hardly tell where the patching was done. He also did a great job with tuck pointing exterior brickwork. His work was excellent, he found and repaired a few additional places that we had not discussed during his time at our home and did not charge us an extra for this work. I would definitely hire Paul again.

Description of Work: Fantastic work, once I finally got him to come!! It took a few time to get him to come, I had to call twice when he did not follow up as he said he would. He finally did show up and do an excellent job! This was to repair some stone work on my front main window. Due to foundation settling, a large crack had opened up. Paul and his helper actually completely reset the large stones (90 pound plus I am sure) that consisted of my window sill for the front main window, and re-set, caulked and even did a little paint retouch at the end. Tip: he offers a cash discount.

Description of Work: Paul did a great job of repairing our chimney. Took off old broken bricks and redid them and replace the chimney cap. He mortared and sealed our chimney so that water was no longer dripping in the fireplace. Great job and I would recommend him.Great

Description of Work: We had a deteriorating concrete patio on the back of our house and below that a brick "patio" in sand. All of it was old. We pulled up the old brick, and Paul helped us find as close of a match as possible to mix the two types of bricks together and cover the old concrete patio. That was 10+ years ago and it still look beautiful! We were concerned about water settling near the house but Paul created a very subtle slop away from the house and we've never had any issues with water on that side of the house. I recently had him give me an estimate for my front sidewalk but decided to do stamped concrete instead.

Description of Work: After a new roof was put in, we started getting water inside the fireplace. Roofing company came out and said we needed chimney repair. Which we did, and badly. Paul fixed the top of the chimney and replaced the chimney cover. Came back in the spring to tuck point and seal. He did very good work. In addition identified another problem with the new roof which we then had fixed.

Description of Work: I was not impressed. Called Paul and he told me with no hesitation that he would be over that evening to check out the problem I was having with my fireplaces. 3 days later I hadn't heard anything from him so I called him back just to have him tell me, "Well your so far out of my way I don't want to have to lug all of my equipment out there...". No apology for the no-show. By the way I live in Briarcliff, just 3 minutes north of downtown, so if you live 20-25 minutes from Overland Park I wouldn't bother.

Description of Work: Had Brick Stoop, walkway, steps, and driveway paved with brick. Was punctual each day, worked full days until complete. His price was best out of 3 quotes. My neighbor liked the finished product so much, he is hiring Mr. Hopkins to do a brick patio for him.

Description of Work: I thought I had some tiles that were missing in my flue in my fireplace, but when he came out to look at that he said I didn't.

Description of Work: I spoke with Paul on 12/30/11. I had pictures of the work that needed to be done and offered to send them to Paul but he said it wasn't necessary that he had to see the damage in person. He stated that he would be at my home the next day around 4pm. He never showed and I didn't receive a follow up response at all.

Description of Work: Paul Hopkins was contacted by the phone number given with Angie's List. He called me back personally the next day, came over to my house and assessed what needed to be done. He estimated approximately fifty (50) bricks in my chimney needed to be replaced. He eventually had to replace around 150 bricks for which he did not charge me extra. He did have to replace one of the stacks on top of the chimney for which there was an extra $30.00 charge. He rebuilt the top portion with a more aesthetic design than the original. He arrived early in the morning of the work day scheduled, had an extra hand assist him, put up the scaffolding in less than an hour, and finished the project in late afternoon. He also sealed the bricks as indicated in the original bid. I was pleased with Paul's responsiveness as compared to the other contractors that were contacted, one of whom never contacted me at all. I would not hesitate to have Paul Hopkins do brick/masonry work for me in the future. He appeared to be very knowledgeable and trustworthy.

Description of Work: I called Paul about some maintenance work on my fabricated stone front. He said he does not work in Lee's Summit, but gave me a reference to someone who does. He also answered several technical questions for me and is very helpful and knowledgeable. I wish he did cover my area.

Description of Work: I am a contractor. I have had problems for years finding a masonry repair contractor to refer to my customers. I have referred Paul on no less than 12 occasions in the past 18 months. Every customer has had good things to say about Paul and his work. Thank you Paul.
