After a death in our family, I took control of their estate which included selling a house. The interior was so damaged and odiferous from 38 years of cigarette smoke that I chose Painting Innovations to get it ready to show prospective buyers. David Butcher was helpful and knowledgable about the task at hand and suggested treating the home as if it had been damaged by fire. After some fairly massive plaster repairs, everything was coated with oil-based primer prior to decorating with interior-latex. The end results were nothing short of amazing. Since I was dealing with an estate, I was also being cautious about spending assets on the property and was very pleased with the price Painting Innovations charged for service. Many thanks and a hearty recommendation for this company.

Could not have asked for better service. They were prompt in getting quotes to me, actually called and asked if they could start the work earlier than the projected start date. They power washed and hand scrapped the old paint on shake siding. The guys worked all day. I was on vacation and was here while they worked. They worked hard and long days. Especially considering they had the three hottest days of the year to be out in the sun. They did a great job and I would definitely use them again. In fact when I am ready for interior painting I will be giving Brad a call for that.

Brad came to give an estaminte and discussed the work needed. Schedule was tight , so I was booked 6 weeks out. They showed up on time every day. It took 3 full days and 1 half day. The work just happened to be on the hottest week for the summer. They did an excellent job. Brad gave suggestions on what work needs to be done next and options on how to do it. They were all very nice and professional. I saw 4 men on the team. I will use them again in the future. I highly recommend Brad and his team.

David and his crew exceeded every expectation we had going into this job. His crew went our they way to make sure their work was done professionally and on time. They spoke to us often to clarify some of the details as the job progressed. The quality of their work was extraordinary in every way. On top of the wonderful results, the crew kept the work area very clean throughout the job. We highly recommend Painting Innovations to anyone needing the exterior of their house painted.

I had a lot of project specific questions about the specifics of the Angie's List deal and paint grades. Painting Innovations was patient, friendly, and responsive even before I purchased the deal. Work is scheduled for next week and I'm looking forward to having them paint 5 rooms in our new home. I will post again with details about the project outcome.

The work was done in a timely manner. The workers showed up on time & worked diligently all day. There were a couple of bumps in the road that were primarily my fault for not asking the correct questions or not fully understanding the the service that was offered. But, overall, these guys did exactly what I paid for & made certain at every turn that I was happy with the choices that I made. I purchased 2 of the Angie's List deals from this company. I was given suggestions that I hadn't considered which was a pleasant bonus. I couldn't be any happier with the outcome.

We needed the exterior of our house painted. Brad (owner) came and gave a free estimate and pointed out a few special needs specific for our house (one area of the base siding was a bit chewed up from sprinklers). We had purchased our paint beforehand and scheduled the job. Painting Innovations was not the cheapest or most expensive quote of 5 that we had - they were in the middle range. But they came highly rated and were very attentive to the details of the house. They crew showed up around 8 AM each morning. They were courteous and got to work. Brad came each day and looked over the work (sometimes several times a day), and he assisted with installing the base board in the area that needed it. At one point, we were informed we would need a few gallons of paint to finish the job. Brad went himself to purchase it and bring it to his crew. In the final stages of completion, the crew noted that the shutters bowed once put in place, so Brad made a special run for additional screws and a suitable concrete bit to fix the issue (which really should have been addressed by the original builder). The crew and Brad were there until after 7 PM that day to complete this, paint the new screw heads, and make sure everything looked right. We did a thorough walk through afterward, and Brad caught a few minor ladder marks he wanted addressed - which his crew did. And then he wiped any marks off our windows. I love the job they did, the attention to the prep work, the paint job itself, the clean up, and the communication we had with the crew and owner. We were advised on what minimally should be done to do the job correctly without additional up-sale. The house looks incredible, and I would definitely have them back to do the interior when we are ready. The only downside was that it was 6-8 weeks out before they could do the job because they were busy, which we didn't look on as detrimental to see a contractor busy and in demand. There were others we interviewed that were available the next day, and we passed. In any event, these guys were worth the wait. Highly recommended.

The carpenters worked with attention to safety and cleaned up every day. Work usually began by 7:30 each day, sometimes earlier. The job began on July 12 and was finished on July 31. I chose this contractor because Brad made a very detailed inspection of the old deck and recommended a thorough plan that addressed what I was looking for. He used all high quality materials and the workers showed an impressive level of attention to detail in the new construction. Brad was on-site every day monitoring the progress and checking with his crew. I am very pleased with the end result.
Description of Work: Renovated a 25 year-old, 410 sq ft wooden deck. Removed and replaced 6x6 support posts on new concrete footers, replaced pressure-treated structural boards, built new cedar railings, stairs and pergola, installed cedar lattice skirting around deck, built new cement pad for the steps, cleaned and stained the existing deck boards and stained all the new wood.

Met my schedule (even though I changed it a couple of times). Was very responsive. Work was very good (covered some paint put on by a former tenant). Covered it well and fixed some problems caused by the last bad paint job. It was an online deal purchase and the date was about to expire, but assured me we'd get the value we paid before or after expiration. All in all, a good experience.

Painter arrived on time and got started. The big deal I purchased was for 6 hours of painting. When he realized I wanted the area painted a very deep color he told me I would likely need more paint and that the job could go over the 6 hours but if it did it would probably be an hour and the rate. After the first two coats were on Iwent for a second gallon of paint. After just over 5 hours tthe painter was all finished and cleaned up. The job was very well done and looked beautiful!

Brad is really a great business man. I think there's a certain inherent flakiness with a lot of painters and companies but not here. He was straight up with the estimate (which admittedly was $700 higher than the "sale price," but come on, $2000 to paint a house? 1990's calling and wants it's Consumer Price Index back. For what I paid I got great paint, Benjamin Moore, attention to detail and he was a man of his word: he held the final price at his estimate quote. He explained that with old homes like mine, there are a lot of paint coats and nobody can remove all of it, unless you want to pay $10K or more. They got the major old stuff off and painted it a lighter color. No bleed through. And it looks nice. My wife and I had arguments about the color (sound familiar, anybody?). Brad was a total statesman about watching us. He never took either side, insisting we be the judge. and aided us in preserving an otherwise great marriage. I will say this, however, about older homes, and it's not Brad's fault. But I think we could have ordered paint in a "matte" finish, not as shiny as we got. I didn't realize this when we selected the paint. So for homes with multiple layers of paint, that are scraped off, what you want is a flat "matte" finish- this will help reduce the reflective sun glare from the surface imperfections of the wood and help it look a little smoother. However, a small consolation. Our home is now happy to look at and drive up to. Brad also hooked us up with a local quality carpenter who tore out the predominantly rotten front porch wood and replaced in, in identical design to the 1930 original, in fresh cedar. It's beautiful and we can't wait to put the finishing touches on it ourselves when we stain/seal it in another month or two. I would recommend this company without any reservations. Also, cleanup was good and they got the job done on time. His crew are likeable, a bit hard to understand some of them, but likeable, friendly, and polite. This was extremely good work for the value and I will call him again for further painting needs.

Brad is the guy I was in contact with, when I would come home after work, I witnessed a worker lounged out in his car sleeping, nails, razor blades on carport and cigarette buds covering ground. I never saw Brad on the job site. I made calls to him to voice concern on how property had been left after each day and shared that one of my dogs cut open there paw from nails left on the deck in the backyard which resulted in her getting a few stiches, also voiced concerns on the new ladscaping that had been two days prior to the job starting many new plants had been crushed which again he did not have a presence on the job site and I sent him pics via phone. Once I did the final walk through again by myself, I had to request him to come out on two occassions to finish areas that were left unpainted. Not to mention the paint was to be matched throughout the exterior and was not... no trim had been followed from the front of the house to the sides and onto the back. Again, this was an unpleasent experience and I would not recommend this company for any futrue jobs.

Response from Painting Innovations
We normaly dont reply to member reviews. However this one warrants one. I would like to point out that I was on the job every day. Not only did we adress the homeowners concerns but we discounted her bill hundreds of dollars. On top of the discount we did several hundred dollars in additional wood rot that was not on the original estimate at no additional charge. I called the home owner when we were getting ready to wrap up the job and she was unavailable to do a walkthrough. The paint was matched exactly to the existing color and the bid specificaly said secondary color on front only. Not to mention that how it was to start. We completely rearranged our schedule to accommodate her. I responded to every email and or message that was left in a timely matter. The homeowner was the one that was unavailable. Also what was left out of this review is that upon completion of the job I was given every excuse in the book as to why I could not be paid. Lost my checkbook. Wrote my last check. Need to transfer money. Etc. We took no money up front and it took over a week to collect payment. We as a company strive to offer the best customer service to all our customers. We go above and beyond on every job. Even if it means going into our profit as we did in this case as well. Painting Innovations will continue to offer excellent service as per our other 90 plus A reviews.

After contacting them for an estimate, we set a date for the job to be done. They were on-time each day as promised. Through no fault of theirs, we had ordered the wrong stain and it had to be reordered. This added extra time to the job so they could not come finish it for a few days. My calls were always returned promptly. Everything was done to my satisfaction. Would definitely hire again.

I hesitated writing this review because I have mixed feelings about the work performed. I paid for 8 hours of painting but the small bathroom I needed painted took only 2-1/2 hours, so obviously I didn't get my money's worth. That's probably my fault because there was other painting that needed to be done and they offered to do more but I wasn't prepared (no paint purchased and the clutter wasn't cleared out). My problem is the amount of touchup I had to do after the painter left. I took a quick look at the job before he left and said it looked ok but after he left I noticed areas that were missed, including a good 3 inch square behind the toilet. I thought maybe he couldn't reach it but I had no trouble reaching it when I filled it in. It just seems with all the time left on my 'contract', the worker could have stayed a little longer and checked his work better. I touched up dozens of little spots where the brush didn't quite fill in (although you'd think since he supposedly gave it two coats, that wouldn't be an issue) and also some edging along the side of the tub stall. I left the paint can in the room for days because I keep seeing small spots that needed to be touched up. Also, the worker taped the side of my wall cabinet and when he pulled the tape off, he took some of the material off the fiberboard cabinet. I noticed it right away and mentioned it to him and he admitted that he'd done it but didn't offer anything to 'fix' it. I touched it up myself after he left with a staining pen and it's not too noticeable but with the type of material on this not solid wood cabinet, you would think an experienced painter would realize that tape might damage the finish. The other issue, was that the price included 'prep' and by that, I thought fixtures (i.e. light switch covers, etc.) would be removed and replaced but these things were just painted around so if I were to ever switch out these things, I might have further touch up to do. (That was something I guess I should have asked about instead of assuming, it's just that whenever I painted myself, I always removed these things.) I was also surprised that the owner of this company never called after the job to check on my satisfaction. The price was reasonable for 8 hours of painting and if I had planned better, I could have kept this painter busy for a full 8 hours but really, how does an average person know how much a professional can get done in 8 hours.
