Called at 8:30 p.m. after determining from this listing on Angie's List that 24-hour emergency service was offered by this company. Nobody answered our calls. We called twice, leaving a detailed message the 2nd time, asking them to call us back. It's 11 a.m. the next day and we've heard nothing. Reporting yourself as an emergency lock-out service and then not bothering to answer the call or return the message is an "F" on every level in my book.

I live in a 1937-era house. The front door is one of my favorite parts of the house and I love the hardware, but over 80 years, the interior handle had gotten progressively looser, to the point that it had fallen out in my hands a few times. Over the years, I'd had three other highly reputable locksmiths come out and all gave short-lived repairs and said nothing else could be done. I next anticipated that I would have to replace the entire door (I was expecting that to cost $5,000-$10,000 because I would have wanted it replicated) but I went to Locks N Pulls to ask them about options. They said that replacing the mortise lock shouldn't be a big deal. I was excited. Then, I couldn't find anybody to replace the mortise lock. Finally, I contacted Jim's Locksmiths and told him my situation. His immediate response regarding replacing the lock was, "Doubt it can be done. Mortise locks of that age are all different and it would probably require extensive work on the door and frame or a wrap-around with metal." Nonetheless, I asked him if he could take a look, understanding that several other highly-rated (Angie's List and everywhere else) locksmiths had indicated it was essentially a hopeless situation. He came that afternoon, very promptly. He was super-professional and took a look at the situation, disassembled the lock and said, "Look....this shaft is badly bent." He took it out to his van and about 30 minutes later, came back in and said that the shaft was so badly bent that it broke while he was straightening it. Not to worry, though! He actually created a new one. He also did what he could with my stripped-out doorknob and he said he thought it would hold, but he couldn't be sure. He said that I could find a new knob if I wanted and he would come replace it an no additional charge. A month later, his repair remains perfect. The doorknob has never worked this well since I bought the house 20 years ago. I got to save my original hardware and somewhere between $1000 (what I had budgeted for replacing the mortise lock) and $5,000-$10,000 (if I had to replace the door) This guy was a true professional. I'm so happy to have found him. He alone was worth the cost of many, many years of subscriptions to Angie's List.

Mark was pleasant and helpful on the phone, gave me a very reasonable quote and said he could be here Monday morning. I told him I was pleased with the reviews he has received from Angie's List members and he assured me that excellent service is his foremost goal. He arrived at the time he said he would, and charged the price he had quoted. He was very professional and efficient, knows his trade well and had the job completed in a very short time. I thought we would end up having to deal with a whole pocket full of keys thus I was delighted to find he was able to rekey all the locks on just two keys even though the deadlocks are different brands! If we need a locksmith in the future, we will definitely call Mark and will certainly recommend him to our friends and family. It was great. I called on Monday and they scheduled a time for Wednesday. The locksmith was on time, worked quickly, and talked me out of something that would have been more expensive and useless. Would definitely use again.

My son could not complete the installation of a doorknob replacement, could not remove the last of the old device and open the locked door. Arriving within one hour after I phoned them, Mark finished installing the new knob. He was in and out in ten minutes. Did not charge for what he called 'a small thing.'

He did fine. However, the key that he made for the garage didn't work. I didn't have time to call him or get him out there. He showed up on time and was very professional.

Absolutely wonderful experience. I was set to meet with the locksmith around 11:30 and received a call prior to that indicating that he was running a little behind and would be able to meet me at noon instead. No problem. I get there at noon and he has already arrived. Tells me my lock is in good shape and asks for my key. Before I even know he's doing anything, already has the lock re-keyed. Goes back to his truck to make me 5 keys. After that, I ask him some basic questions about security and locks, and he answers them all patiently with years of expertise to back up his statements. I then took him to my sliding glass doors whose locks don't actually latch. He was able to fix the downstairs lock and the upstairs one he recommended new rollers for the sliding glass door in order to raise the level, which should allow it to latch. He was clearly looking out for my best interest both in terms of security and saving me money. I was extremely pleased with the service and the price, and would absolutely hire them again. The whole service call, even with him doing a little mechanical work on the sliding glass door latches, was about 20 minutes. He was THAT good.

Extremely well! I called at 2:00 and he was at my house by 4:10 pm on the same day. Mark was early, knew exactly what to do and was willing to check out my other doors for me in case I had a similar problem with them. One of my 3 other doors to the outside needed an adjustment as well. Very professional, efficient, and friendly. I will recommend Mark and Jim's Locksmith to my friends and I will definitely use his services again when needed.

-We were very pleased with the company and service provided. -Mark arrived promptly! I called at 11:45 am and he arrived at 12:05 pm which is actually 10 minutes earlier than given on the phone. -He was very professional and kind. He explained everything that he was doing. -He fixed our stuck lock quickly. He assessed the situation/examined the problem. He took it apart and lubricated it. He tested it to make sure everything was in working order. He had me test the lock to make sure it worked for me. -Mark did not charge anything for the service or for driving out to our home. He just said to keep the company in mind and call again when the company could be of service. That made my week! -We will definitely use this company again and will gladly pay for given services.

What great service. He went above and beyond. He did everything we originally scheduled him to do, plus more. He was fast and even reinstalled all of our deadbolts. As it turns out they were installed backwards. Would definitely recommend!

After a few times of missed communications he came to the house and gave me new keys with no charge. Very nice man.

Mark was punctual, pleasant and efficient. He even returned twice for minor issues (not of his doing), and did not charge for the visits. We were very pleased, and would highly recommend Jim's Locksmith.

I would absolutely rate Jim's service as top notch, and would HIGHLY recommend him. He answered the phone professionally, and arrived at my house a little early, which was great. He immediately went to work diagnosing the issue, which turned out to be a little more complicated than I thought (but as a layman I had been messing around for a hour or two on several different occasions trying to fix it myself). Jim quickly located the 'real' problem that i had missed, and then he fixed it in less than 10 minutes!!! Fantastic service, and a great person to work with. His prices are excellent. Based on how much time I had wasted, I wish I would have called Jim sooner. I know sometimes Angie's list reviews get a bad rap, but this one is written by a truly satisfied customer who gives Jim's service my highest recommendation!

I scheduled service with Mark about a week out for one day after we closed on our home. Mark got tied up and was running about an hour late but he called and explained where he was and when he would arrive. I was in no hurry working around the house so it was no big deal. After Mark arrived he explained what he was going to do, gave me options and his opinion on safety. The work (4 exterior doors) was done quickly (less than 1 hour) and professionally. I would definitely recommend Jim's Locksmiths!

Called late morning on Friday to get lock changes scheduled, as we'd just moved into our new home. The dispatcher had someone available early afternoon on the same day. Locksmith called about half an hour later to confirm the time. He arrived on time, was very friendly and worked quickly to get the locks changed. Service was slightly more expensive than some others out there, but the work was of good quality and they came when they said they would. I would definitely use again.

The call came promptly on Monday morning, and Mark arrived right on time. He got right to work with the keys. The locked cabinet proved very difficult, but he did not give up and completed the job.
