The inspector was a young guy and it quickly became apparent he was working on commission. He spouted off a variety of issues for this four year old system: 1.) Replace inducer. 2.) Clean blower wheel 3.) Flame sensor has carbon build up (don't remember if he was recommending replacing it) 4.) Replace hot surface igniter. 5.) Replace ultraviolet cleaning unit with newer, better model. That was 6 years ago. I did none of this and the system has worked fine since (with the exception of the replacement of a blower circuit in July, 2013). I still have the inspection report from this guy. It doesn't list the total cost of repairs but it was in the thousands. Worst of all, the guy recommended I cut the power supply to my ultraviolet cleaning unit (rather than simply replace the bulb) as that would prevent me from losing power. That didn't sound right to me but I figured he was the "expert." He said he wasn't allowed to cut the wire himself. I asked him how to cut the power to that wire before I cut it and he indicated a switch it was connected to. After he left, I turned off the switch and cut the wire (against my better judgement). Had it not been for the insulation of the handles of the dikes I used, I would have been electrocuted. Now I understand that any company can have a young, green worker in the field give bad advise. That's really not my issue. My issue is that, when I called Bob Hamilton to complain, the woman there offered no apology, no remedy (e.g. repairing the wire cut, offering a free service call), and suggested that I misunderstood the technician. When I mentioned, because of all the expensive repairs suggested by him, he must be on commission; she said nothing (i.e. didn't deny it). Given Bob Hamilton's response to placing my life in danger and trying to gouge me, I'll never use their service again.

They did the job, however they over charged me. They were dishonest. I had them come out in the middle of the winter. It seemed like they tried to pick out a lot of things that needed to be fixed regardless of if I needed it fixed or not.

I called another service and they stated that my hot water was fine. I called Bob Hamilton to file a complaint but they never called me back.
Description of Work: The heating and air serviceman came and put new filters in my furnace. He stated that my Hot water heater was in violation of code and needed to be replaced asap and wanted $3600.00 to do it. At the same time the plumbing division stopped by and they wanted $1800.00 to replace it. I was so confused that I told them I would think about it, They both stated that carbon monoxide was leaking AND COULD KILL ME.

Our sewer line was clogged and the toilet in the basement was overflowing. Gave them a call and they had someone out in about 2 hours. Anthony the service man was extremely polite and seemed very knowledgeable. Because it's the first time we've used them they are going to come out and do a camera inspection at a later date as part of the $99 fee. Would highly recommend them based off of this experience. A+

Called at 9:00 ish first person said it would be about an hour and a half. Received another call in about that time indicating the tech would come in the late afternoon. Received a call around 1:30 indicating that a tech was sick and they would not be out, there is NOTHING they can do and have a good day. - What only one person works each day? And there is NOTHING they can do? I will not use again. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Everything went perfectly. I honestly have zero complaints. Chris worked with me on price and features I wanted for an air conditioner and furnace. They were one of four estimates I received and Chris ensured that they were the best offer. He was not going to let my business go somewhere else and I appreciated the efforts he put forward. I had not previously used any services from Bob Hamilton until this purchase so, aside from the install that went seamlessly, I can not speak to their prices or customer service related to fixing issues with plumbing, a/c, or heating. The warranty offered for the equipment we purchased was second to none and we won't have to pay for anything if any issues arise for many years. All I know is they put a ton of effort into gaining our business, performed a perfect install without any issues, and have gained a customer for many years. Absolutely nothing negative to say from my experiences thus far with Chris or any of the other individuals I have dealt with over the past couple weeks.

They cut a hole in the floor in a closet to get access to a "potential" broken pipe to assess what needed to be done. (This was going to cost $1500, but ey sold us on their service policy to save $200). They don't repair the hole - just leave it for you to do. They could not use that area and said we now had to tear an even bigger hole in the kitchen; (again, just to evaluate what needed to be done) for another $1,350) destroying the floor and they couldn't say if they would damage the new cabinets. They would leave the torn up floor, with or without fixing the problem. This was just to evaluate a potential problem! The repair (if needed) would be extra! Before he left, he did not try the drain again. We did after he left and there is no back up now!We believe we got "hosed" and they took advantage of our situation. We've used them a few times before. We will never call them again.

It was totally my fault because I didn't say anything at the time. The man came out, he looked at the toilet and decided to replace it because I wanted a higher height one. I got nothing in writing. He did everything on his little ipad thing. No guarantee in writing, and no written anything and I paid like over 12 hundred dollars for it. I thought to myself, hey I think you may have got over charged.

They are terribly expensive. My husband said, "We're not calling them again." He felt that they were too expensive. His prices are way to high. They do good work. They do quality work. They installed both of our hot water heaters. That was fine. But, this last one was entirely an over charge. It was almost $800 and they were small things. It was just too much. My husband said, "No more. Forget it. We'll deal with somebody else."

Two techs arrived on time; looked at the situation and felt drain needed to be snaked. Tried to sell us a new garbage disposal, saying that it probably wasn't grinding the food up enough, which caused the clog. This company works on a specific cost basis; apparently snaking drains costs ~$254 plus there is a $48 trip charge added. Techs were friendly & professional and seemed pretty knowledgeable and they fixed the issue, or so it appears thus far. There is a 30 day guarantee on the work performed. Although we could have refused based on the cost, we had them do the work since we were already out $48 for the trip. We would find another plumber based on their pricing.

First of all, I need to point out that I am handicapped and have to walk with crutches so I couldn't attempt to do this myself. The man who came out was very pleasant and i watched him remove 2 screws from the drain cover and remove it. He then removed one handful of leaves leaves and then poured approximately 2 gallons or water down the drain. This took less than 5 minutes. I then asked him to look at a downspout that had pulled away from the French drain (about 3 inches so the rainwater goes out into the yard) and he said, "we don't do anything like that". He then presented me with the bill for $147.75 and explained that there is a $48 Dispatch Fee and a minimum charge of $121.65 but I was eligible for a $21.90 "discount" (don't know why) so my total bill was $147.75. My mistake was not asking what charges are made before the plumber ever arrives (had never heard of a "dispatch fee" and a minimum, etc.). I have had previous plumbing technicians come and they have run a "snake" down to the end of the line (sump pump) and charged $85. I will be a smarter shopper next time!

It was $600 for a part that my husband bought for $100. Our furnace was not working and they sent out a nice young man. We paid for the service call and then he said there was this one little part that we needed that costs $600. My husband said that was too much because we were retired and thanked him for his time. We then went to a parts store and we bought the part for about $110. We came home and within $10 minutes my husband had it in the furnace and it was working just fine. They called me the next day and asked what the problem with their service was and I told them it was expensive but they said that was what everybody charges so I hang up on him. The young man was polite and gave “A” service.

Everything went perfect from start to finish! Person answering the phone was friendly and professional. I asked about their charge and was told that they were running a $99 service line cleaning. When questioned I was told that I could set up a specific time for their service. I choose 3:30 and they called me 30 minutes prior to the scheduled time to ask if they could send the service man. I asked them to wait until 3:40, as there were traffic delays getting home. They were happy to do this and he showed up promptly as scheduled. He was very informative and performed the service quickly. He told me that he had pulled out some small tree roots and he offered a free camera check of our sewer line that he could schedule for me. He went to the truck and came back in a few minutes and asked me if Friday would be a good day for me. He explained what would take place and that there would be absolutely no extra charge for the camera service. If problems were found, then I could accept or reject any further service that they recommended. On Friday, the serviceman called before arriving to give me an approximate time. The office called me as well. He showed up on time and also was very professional. It only took a few minutes for him to set up and I watched as the camera went through the line. He allowed me to take pictures with my phone so I could share it with my husband. My lines were clear and the only problem he found was that there was plumbers cement that had deteriorated where our pipe met the main sewer line, which was allowing roots to enter. He gave me an estimate for the repairs and fully explained how the service would be performed. I am not having the service done at this time, but I would feel very comfortable having this company do the repairs. In my husband's line of work, he has seen the type of work that this company performs and he feels that they are an extremely reliable company and does very professional work I wish that they were still running the $49 Angie's list coupon, but the price was still very reasonable. I would recommend this company without reservation.

I had called RotoRooter a few weeks prior due to a toilet that was not flushing properly. They quoted $699 to clean the main line, which I could not afford at that time. When I could afford to have it done someone referred me to Bob Hamilton Plumbing who was running a special at that time of main line cleaning for $99. I called and the main line tech was very prompt and courteous. He stated that he did not think it was the main line and that I needed a plumber to look at the toilet. He called and set up an appointment with the plumbing section and two plumbers arrived shortly thereafter. They looked at the toilet and said that due to calcium deposits I needed a new toilet. They said they could auger the toilet for any clogs for $208 but I would still probably need a new toilet. They quoted over $850 for installation of a standard toilet. I was aware of the cost of a new toilet (basic toilet at the hardware store is $125) and thought their quote was too high. I did an internet search that stated the cost of installation should be between $300-$400. I declined their services and they told me that I owed them a $48.00 service fee. I was not informed at any point that there would be a service charge, relaying this to them and they told me that since I was not told they would not charge me. Using some cleaner, pumice, a wire coat hanger and some elbow grease I cleaned the toilet of calcium deposits. All holes are cleared of debris but it is still not flushing right. I was disappointed in that I wanted my main line cleaned and they declined to do it. I also felt that their cost for installation of a standard toilet was too high. I relayed my concerns and disappointment to the office and they have not responded. I will most likely not use Bob Hamilton Plumbing in the future.

Fantastic. They kept me posted on when I'd have a technician, a little later than they expected but no inconvenience for me. The tech was personable and professional, got the job done quickly and called me to see the roots as I'd requested. We scheduled the camera guy for the following week as it was a friday. The next week, the camera guy arrived as scheduled and let me know when he was on his way. He ran the camera and waited for me to get down there when he had it all set up as requested. We discussed the results and he set up about four different scenarios of fixes and gave me detailed quotes on the two I was most interested. He didn't get the cover on my line secured well so I noticed it was leaking later in the week. I called in and they had a tech come out that day to get the cap secured--this tech noticed that mine was pretty old and worn so he found a new one for me and installed it and showed me where the pipe was breaking down and that he'd waxed it good to seal it. This tech did all of that free of any further charge. I was extremely happy with service from beginning to end. Great job, Hamilton Plumbing.
