Awful! I know it is a busy time for these folks but we were hung out to dry. Told repair person would be arriving between 4-6pm. Reminded 2x during morning to be available and confirmed we'd be home. No call until 7:30pm when we were told repairman was on way. Job took 10 minutes tops. I didn't like the thermostat. We had Honeywell. He put in an Emerson. Told us bill was $465. I told him that's not possible and asked for a breakdown of charges. He told me he couldn't do that. It was just a flat fee for the job. I asked him to bring us a new thermostat at a later time. And I wanted a minute to call their main number and ask why I could get an itemized total and why labor would run about $2,400/HR. He told me I just needed to sign the paperwork so he could leave and go to bed. Repairman smelled like a chimney. I think he smoked 10 packs of cigarettes on his drive to our home. The scent lingered. It was a horrible experience and I will never use Bob Hamilton again. Ive also told everyone I know to stay clear.
Description of Work: Hooked up a new thermostat where old one was.

Installation went well initially a year ago. They gave us a great deal and the warranty was second to none. I had three other offers and Bob Hamilton did everything in their power to win our business. The install was seamless and very professional. Winter went well. In the Spring when it came time for the A/C to run, we had noticed that there was a fairly high humidity in the home.. it usually hovered around 65-70%. It seemed high to me so I did contact Bob Hamilton to ask about the issue. At the time I was told it was not too bad for this part of the country (kansas city). So I went with it. Later in August/September timeframe, every register in our home was growing mold. Initially we were upset because we felt this could have been resolved back in June when I first reported the humidity issue. I contacted Bob Hamilton again and this time they came out immediately to see what was the matter. They replaced all the moldy registers in teh house, cleaned out our vents as well as they could and performed a entire home energy inspection to figure out what the problem was. They found that the pressure upstairs and the pressure downstairs were not equalized and the furnace was pulling in surrounding air in the basement. This was bad for two reasons. One it pulled in too much air too fast for the system to take the moisture out of the air before pushing it to the house. And it was sucking in carbon monoxide from our water heater and pushing it through the house as well which could be very dangerous. So they recommended to put in another return and replace some ductwork to help stabilize the situation. They came out a couple days later and did the work.. again seamless and professional and above all else, completely covered by warranty. Although I realize there is some unknown factors to an entire home install, the initial install was not perfect. And it would have been ideal to have work done back in June when I first mentioned the issue. But regardless they were very responsive and diligent to make this right and I sincerely appreciate that. It is now too cold to see if the humidity issue is indeed taken care of but they have told us to wait it out during the winter and to see how the system runs come spring/summer in 2017. If the humidity is still an issue, they will come back and hit the drawing board again until they figure out the issue. The customer service has been remarkable given the circumstances...enough so that I felt the need to share for any future customers :) Adam Schlicht

Plumbing works. Checkbook took a hit.
Description of Work: The plumbing job initially was to remove a cast iron pipe going to a toilet. Then we were quoted a price to replace the rest of the pipe in the house. After overruns from the initial bid (he forgot to include many parts) we ended up paying almost $2000 over the original bid.

Technician was very nice - however , the call fee was $79 and to continue would have cost an additional $135 for diagnostic testing. Isnt that what you expect in a service call? So , essentially $200 + BEFORE repairs. Sorry , will not use again (pretty trucks and flashy advertising) but beware of price gouging .

Replaced defective parts, inspected unit and gave future recommendations to what the unit needed to run more efficiently. Made sure all my questions were answered and got the unit running properly. Was very honest as to what he needed to repair to get the unit running and to what I need to do to make the unit better. (More efficient) Made sure all my questions were answered and I understood what was to be done and also what needed to be done in the future. Someone I would diffidently use again.

From the initial phone call to completion. Mostly hassle free, the comfort specialist didn't try to upsell a unit that we didn't need he actually pointed us in the direction of the least expensive unit very little pressure...my only problem was with the finance company. Bob Hamilton could've been like we got our money you deal with it, but Kurtis and a slew of other employees kept on with themy till they fixed the error and assured me even if Fortiva flakes they will cover the intrest we weren't supposed to be charged. Kurtis Threlkeld kept me in the loop even when he didn't know exactly what was going on...he turned an extremely frustrated customer into one that will recommend Bob Hamilton to anyone....it's easy to make a customer happy when everything goes as planned but the way Kurtis came through when a different company dropped the ball shows how much they care about their reputation.

They were just maintaining and checking it and I've been quite happy with that. They always let me know about anything that needs to be done. They were right on time. We've never had any trouble there. They were all gentlemen. I was happy with the work they did.

WARNING! This company came out to do a simple drain repair and offered a free inspection of our sewer main line. They then convinced us that they needed to repair the line immediately, and gave us a quote of 18,000$. They said that no other company in town did the sewer line repair without digging. This was a lie. They offered financing of 0% interest for 60 months. We filled out a credit application. The representative pressured us hard to have the work done the next day. We then got a second opinion. They are not the only company doing the digless repair. Digless repair is not cheaper than digging. Digging from another company was estimated at $4,200. Three days later, after making sure to cancel both the scheduled repair AND the credit application, we received a Wells Fargo credit card at a 28.99% interest rate! No zero interest payment option, opened a credit card in our names and affecting our credit report even after they told us several times it was retracted. Please avoid this company, I can't even imagine the financial damage they do to older or less savvy customers!

Very disappointed. I was quoted $1,600 for the job. When I questioned the amount the technician spent a great deal of time explaining that he needed to run the line across the entire basement to the gas source. I suggested that he could tie into the line to the hot water heater that was 18 inches away. Again he talked in very technical language to convince me that was not possible. I went ahead and agreed to the expensive quote as my new stove was to be delivered the next day. A few months later a contractor reviewing my basrment for a build out showed me that the technician indeed taped into the line servicing the hot water heater and the line was less than 18 inches. I researched what this job should have cost and all sources were between $400 and $700. The higher price for the longer route to the gas source, if needed. I called Bob Hamilton for an explanation. It took a week of phone calls before someone agreed to come out to look at the work. Then it took another week before they admitted they overcharged me. I finally got a refund of $1,100. Bob Hamilton clearly tried to take advantage of a single, elderly woman. I will never use them again and I will share my experience with all that will listen. I believe this is company policy rather than a mistake and find this company to be unreputable.

First off, this job was enormous. We got bids and chatted with multiple companies, and decided on Bob Hamilton as soon as we met them. Their bid was slightly lower than another contractor who could do the job, but we were significantly more comfortable with BH. Hunter came out and met with us to explain what needed to be done and give us options. The job took less than a week for them to complete - and that included digging a huge trench and hole to the sewer connection point! They replaced the concrete that had to be removed, got all inspections by the city completed, and left our home better than they found it. I can't say enough good things about this company.

I contacted Bob Hamilton Plumbing at 7:26am on the morning of August the 9th. I was pleased that they answered the phone. I explained that I had a shut off valve behind my refrigerator that would not turn off completely. I also explained that I had two hoses for my washer that I was unable to remove and would like them to be removed so I could replace them with two new braided hoses. The lady on the phone was quick and courteous. She took my information and then informed that since I was beyond the 35 mile radius from their shop the service call would be an additional $65. The total for them to make the drive would be $110. I agreed and she said I would be contacted throughout the day as to when I may expect service. I received a phone call at 9:51am and 12:19pm letting me know nothing had changed and they would contact me when someone would be dispatched. At 1:54pm I received a call letting me know I was next on the list. At 3:01pm I received a call letting me know that a truck had been dispatched and should arrive within 30 minutes. I called Bob Hamilton Plumbing at 4:05pm when the truck had still not arrived. They arrived at the same time as I was on the phone. The gentlemen were professional, wore covers for their shoes and courteous. I showed them what I wanted to have repaired. They explained they would go back to the truck figure the cost and come back to show me the quote. When they walked back in with the quote as he was explaining the 4 numbers that were scratched out on a sheet of white paper I could not believe what I was hearing. The valve behind the fridge was going to be $868. The valves behind the washing machine were going to be $1188. I was shocked and speechless. I asked so you expect this to be over $2000? He began to explain how this is competitive pricing and that Bob Hamilton hadn't been in service for so many years by overcharging. I not so kindly asked them to leave. He reminded me that I owed him the $113 service fee. I paid the $113 fee and they left. I called Bob Hamilton at 4:29pm to express my concern and anger about this. The lady who answered the phone was again very professional but there wasn't anyone who could handle my complaint at the time. She took my information and let me know someone would be contacting me the following day. It would appear I paid someone to give me a ridiculously high quote and they made $113 for their hour of drive time.
Description of Work: They did not perform any service other then an estimate to repair three water shut off valves.

They didn’t actually do anything and you are still paying a lot. He couldn’t fix it or tell us where the leak was. There is a leak somewhere so I hesitated to put more Freon in if it’s just going to leak out. Hesitant to replace the air conditioner if the Freon is still gonna leak, if it’s still a leak what the point. I think we should pay them for what they actually do not just to come. If I’m gonna pay you $80 for you to come out and tell me what’s wrong with my air conditioner, tell me what’s wrong with my air conditioner.

The technician suggested that a full diagnostic was necessary but the "cost could be used to offset a new unit". She then determined that the 5 year old unit had many many issues, to include issues that would could cause fires and could cause CO poisoning to my family, and the repairs would cost almost $7000. She was then very eager to link me up with a sales rep to discuss getting a new unit. I chose to not use her any further and to get a second opinion. So she left with a check of over $200 without having fixed my AC unit. We contacted a different service provider the same day who analyzed the unit and made repairs that only cost several hundred dollars, and the unit is working great.

Called company in the morning, told them sewer line was backing up and I needed someone the same day. They said, no problem, they would be out that afternoon. Keep in mind they advertise, SAME DAY SERVICE. Later in the day they called and said they could not make it. In the mean time the sewer backed up and flooded the basement. We frantically called a local Roto Rooter..and they came to clean out the drain at 10pm at night. The water damage ruined carpet, walls, baseboards in several rooms. We had to pay a $1500 deductible on the insurance claim. We had to have mold removing service and we even lost some furniture. All because Bob Hamilton did not keep his pledge. I wrote to Bob Hamilton, and never received a reply. I put my negative review on their website, but of course it was never posted. I also wrote a negative review on YELP. This Company spends a small fortune on advertising. In my comments I suggested if they are not going to do same day service that they should not advertise it. It is just as simple as that.

Outrageous pricing - WOW BUYER BEWARE. I called office to question bill and lady said a manager would call me back to explain how 2 water heaters and a leaking valve could possibly cost $5,000. Never received a call back. When I asked her what their labor charge was per hour, she said they don't charge by the hour. Guy was in my home less than 5 hours. Parts couldn't have been more than $2,000 so their labor rate has to be in excess of $500 per hour. My wife was at home to deal with a leaking water heater. Calling a plumber that advertises a lot does not mean they wont take advantage of you financially.

Bob Hamilton was called to unblock sewer line. Then used video camera to show condition of existing sewer line. Consequently, it was determined that it would be best to replace old line since a new room addition was soon to be added over sewer line. They replaced in only two days the entire old clay sewer line (over 100 feet) with new ABS pipe from house to sewer line on street. The job included breaking through concrete basement wall and replacing previous fittings into a more stream line arrangement. Since we were adding an addition to the back of the house, we wanted peace of mind that sewer line would not be an issue in years to come. The line ran from back of the house turning to the side of the house all the way to city sewer. Only two small areas were excavated to place entire line. Within a week grass was growing and it is almost impossible to see where ground was broken. However, what was really impressive with Bob Hamilton plumbing is that they returned to correct a washing machine line that was clogged. The plumbers installed a washing machine pump station that runs water from washer to the new existing sewer line. This was done at no cost. The apparatus has a motor activated by water flow, and check valve to prevent back up plus additional fittings used to tie to new line. Thanks to Bob Hamilton Plumbing we have complete confidence that our existing drain system will be trouble free. They also made good suggestions on plumbing ideas on our upcoming addition. They were very cooperative and friendly in dealing with the during plumbing issue.

I needed to have my bathtub spout nipple replaced and I was originally quoted $650 because the technician thought that he would have to open up the wall to take the piece out as it was rusted. After he realized all he had to do is unscrew it and put in a new nipple which cost about two dollars at the hardware store, I was still charged $633 for the visit I tried to get him to go down and he wouldn't budge so I went ahead and signed just because I needed to take a bath. I called Bob Hamilton and they were giving me a 50% refund but still 317 is Way too much to just put in a two dollar nipple! Awful way to take advantage of a single mom. Update....the business manager gave me a great deal of my money back. I appreciate that and believe that I was just taken advantage of by the technician. Update #2...they are trying to get me to take down this review. Not classy. I went up two stars for them on Yelp, now I'm taking one away. Be careful people.
