Everyone at Hamilton Services takes great pride in delivering the highest level of customer service and satisfaction on every plumbing, heating, drain clearing and air conditioning service we provide.
The worked was polite and prompt but he was essentially making up stuff. He even offered to have the work financed. I waited and found that the estimate was very overstated.
Description of Work: Bob Hamilton worker came out to my house to repair the furnace. He gave me an estimate of $1850 to do repair work. It sounded too high, so I called Midwest Heating and Cooling. They charged $120 to repair the furnace. Big difference.

We called Bob Hamilton after we had the sewer back up in our garage and basement. They came out right away and were very professional. They completed the job and we scheduled to have them return within a week to run a camera in the main line. Unfortunately, the sewer backed up again before they came out to run the camera. Again they came out in a reasonable amount of time and got us unclogged again. The following week they came out to run the camera. We discovered that the main line had collapsed. We scheduled Bob Hamilton to do the work and were pleased with the result. Unfortunately, when they came out to run the camera again, we discovered that there was another break, further past the first one. The technician was immediately on the phone with the city (Kansas City, Missouri), to have an inspector out to see who was responsible. Fortunately, this time it was the city's responsibility to fix. Overall we were very pleased with the work we had done, and the professionalism of the technicians involved.
Description of Work: Clear a sewer back up, run a camera, and then fix a collapsed main line.

Tech arrived toward end of day, but went right to work and did a good and efficient job. Mentioned age of water heater, and provided a quote when asked. Also got quote on other work, and was happy with service. Normal rate was a little high, but through Angie's coupon was about what I have paid in the past.
Description of Work: Cleaned out drain pipe to sewer. Service required every two years due to tree roots. Friendly tech, gave me a quote on other work and cleaned up after service.

I would advise anyone who reads this to think twice about using Bob Hamilton Plumbing. I have a rental house that had tree roots growing into the sewer lateral, so I purchased an Angie's list coupon for Bob Hamilton and called them up to tell them about the tree roots. I mean they gotta be good, right. His kids singing on the radio commercial, all these great reviews on Angie?s List. The guy from Bob Hamilton came out was very nice (seemed like a good kid) but he didn?t know exactly what he was doing - and at the time I didn?t know either, although I have learned a few things. He tried to clear the drain by SNAKING the basement floor drain. Found out later he should have used a ROOTER and gone thru the clean out plug on the main sewer line. He said he got a lot of mud out of the drain and went about 50 feet into the drain before he could not go any further. He concluded that the clay sewer tile must have collapsed and the overlying ground sunk into the line. Sounds logical. Found out later that he MAY have broken thru the drain tile around my house and was retrieving mud from there - I really don't know about that though. Anyway, he said a Bob Hamilton plumber would come out and run a camera thru the line to confirm the sewer line was broken. I could understand how a young kid could make this mistake and if it had ended there ? I would have said ?No Harm, No Foul, No Angie?s List?. But the plumber came out and said he could not see anything because there was too much water that had backed up in the drain. OK fine I understand. But, wouldn?t you think that he would have known the kid messed up by just snaking the basement drain and the plumber would have suggested starting over with a rooter instead of a snake?? I mean this guy is a licensed Plumber and is supposed to know this stuff - Right?? I darn sure didn't at the time. But NO, he confirmed the kids suspiction and told me I needed to repair the drain line to the tune of $7,100.00. He said this like he was selling me cup of Kool-Aid from a neighborhood stand. Said they would come out and jack hammer and tear out a section of the basement floor to replace the line under the floor, ?burst? the pipe and then put a liner in the lateral on the exterior. Basically like Afganistan in my basement. He told me what ?burst? means but to be honest with you after he said $7.100 my heart started palpitating, I was in shock and didn?t really hear or understand anything he was saying except $7,100, $7,100, $7,100. I was already forming a desperation plan - contemplating cutting off our cable TV, taking an extra job and sending the kids to Trade School instead of college, running thru the list of organs I could sell. He recommended putting a liner in the pipe and offered a life time warranty (which ain?t that long when you can?t afford to eat). I think the reason they put liners in rather than digging up your yard is to first - suck every last penny from your pocket book and second - to repair the drain under the street to city sewer which is fine if you are Bill Gates and that is what you need. I checked with another company and they said digging and replacing the line TO the street would have cost around $2,500.00. Yeah - at that point I was elated to pay ONLY $2,500.00 ? that would have been an extra couple years my kids could wear shoes. If Bob Hamilton Plumbing were not trying to rip me off, they would have recommended checking the sewer under the street before charging me to ?burst, jack hammer and demolish my basement floor and then suck my last dying breath from lungs while slipping the last dollar from increasingly weakening hand and leve me gasping on the floor. After a day of two of fretting over the money, I called an actual Rooter Company who came out and Rootered my drain for $150.00 THATS RIGHT $150.00 (the only reason it wasn't $116.00 is because the line is little longer then most). Anyway, it now works as good as new. Eventually I will need to get the line replaced I have resigned myself to that fact. But it AIN"T going to be Bob Hamilton Plumbing doing the work. I joked around a lot in this review - but it really is a serious issue and i was very worried for a few days. I don?t know where Bob Hamilton thought I could come up with $7,100.00 (i know I don't look rich) before they tried to pull this. And maybe they were not trying to rip me off. Maybe they are legitimately that incompetent. But at any rate, Please, get two or three bids if any contractor says you need a major repair.
Description of Work: Sewer Lateral Clearing They wanted to charge me $7,100.00 to reline the sewer lateral that I had other comapany rooter out for $150.00. See the looooong story below and try not to fall asleep.

The entire experience was very satisfactory, completed to expectations and very punctual. I would recommend Bob Hamilton Plumbing and will use their services again.
Description of Work: Bob Hamilton performed the main drain line cleaning out to the main sewer line. A second visit included a video camera of the sewer line. As the first attempt to clear to the main sewer was not completed due to a length issue due of the auger a second visit was scheduled at no additional cost, completing the service.

This is a rental property that we own and the renter had called Bob Hamilton because she had a coupon for $200 off a plumbing issue. That was the first mistake, but smart of the company to get in the door. The quote itself was fine and the repairman called in reinforcement. The quality of plumbing work was good overall, but the clean up was awful. Took them weeks to pick up the brush, tree limbs, etc. We got a warning citation from the city of Leawood, which I called the company and informed them that they were going to have to pay this, or take it off the bill, if they didn't come and clean up the mess. They did come the next week to clean up the outdoor mess, but it was in all about a month late!!!! However, they did NOT come to finish the indoor work, and I called Bobby Hamilton on several occasions to see when they would be by to finish the cosmetic work in the bathroom that was needed (and in the original quote). We were disappointed with the professionalism and punctuality of Bobby Hamilton himself (the son). We unfortunately had to finance the project and he stood us up on 2-3 occasions where we took off early from work to meet him and sign the paperwork (this was months after the project was already finished). Then, the company's finance department had the audacity to call us, wondering "where is the signed paperwork?". This went on for a few months. We would set up a time with Bobby, he wouldn't show, then the company would call again. In the meantime, the indoor cleanup/cosmetic work never was completed. Finally, I was just fed up with it and I called to speak with the owner, or managing partner. I spoke with Bob Hamilton's daughter (sorry, I can't remember her name now) and relayed the issues that we had over the past months, including the indoor work that had not been completed. She was insistent that they had the BEST customer service in the area (really???) and she did apologize for the inconvenience of Bobby not showing up as well as the outdoor mess that was left for a month and the indoor work that was not completed. Then, of course, she wanted her money. I relayed that if the indoor work was completed and the total bill reduced, we would move forward with signing the paperwork (mind you, this was almost 10 months after the project should have been completed). I must have spent 30 minutes trying to get the bill reduced for our inconvenience as well as missed work. She agreed to a very small amount and then 5 years of free furnace and air conditioning service. I agreed finally to this in order to move on and finish the call, but REALLY? Like we will ever let them back into ANY of our houses!!! They did finally finish the indoor work after talking to the owner, but wow, if we had paid the bill upfront, we would have never probably gotten it completed. That was the only lucky part of this story, besides learning a lesson and using Angie's list next time, which we DID do for our house a month ago. We had A-1 Septic and Sewer come out to our property and perform an almost identical repair with a totally different experience. Use them, not Bob Hamilton.

The gentlemen that did the A/C tune up but tried to tell us there was a problem with the outside unit that would soon need to be repaired. I asked him to show me. He did and there was nothing out of place that I could see. Later we were told by another serviceman that the unit was fine. The bid on the downstairs was outrageous. The guy was doing a bid to replace things that were unnecessary. I asked if he would be the guy they would send to do the work and he said yes. It's my opinion the guy was trying to milk this job for all that he could.
Description of Work: The $80.00 was after use of a coupon. We hired them to do a yearly check on our A/C. We also asked for a bid on a job in our downstairs bathroom.

I have had a service agreement with Bob Hamilton heating and cooling - so when I had a plumbing issue I called them out to fix it. As a preferred customer they offered a "discount" to repair the seal on the toilet and complete rebuild -- I had company in town for my parents 50th wedding anniversary so I was desperate to have 2 toilets repaired and quickly. The estimate was excessive. My husband was out of town for the day for my son's basketball tournament, so I made the decision to have the work done. When he found out I paid $2100 to have two toilets seals replaced and guts replaced he flipped out -- adding to my stress of the weekend. I called around and found that weekend work for same services would at most have cost $250 per toilet. What an idiot I am!I called to ask for a refund for excessive price gouging. They said that they do not price services like other plumbers. They take their previous years expenses, break them out my services most rendered and set pricing to ensure they cover their expenses plus a "Modest" 10% profit. By the end of our discussion, I was able to obtain a refund of approximately $1300 -- I still paid a premium but felt much better about my decision to have the work done.Do NOT use this company -- unless you have money to burn and don't mind giving your money away needlessly.

They ripped us off! I will absolutely never use them again!
Description of Work: Simple put this company ripped us off. We woke up one morning to find our sink plugged up. We were in a pinch so when someone we knew recommended Bob Hamilton we decided to use them. They quoted us a low price initially but once the service man got to our house he said it was far worse then was expected and it would cost $650! Really?! To snake a drain? The guy realized we were in a pinch and clearly took advantage of our situation. To top it all off the guy cleaning our drain then tried to sell me some energy drink he was a salesman for! I found this to be profoundly unprofessional. In the end they did unclog our drain, but I would expect no less from a professional plumber. I didn't expect them to be so unscrupulous. Don't put your trust in these crooks!
