Everyone at Hamilton Services takes great pride in delivering the highest level of customer service and satisfaction on every plumbing, heating, drain clearing and air conditioning service we provide.
I think this technician was not equipped to do the pipe work ultimately needed for our washing machine drain problem. He tried to rout it out and it worked for a week or so but plugged again. Ultimately we hired a different plumber who replaced the drain pipe. That has solved the problem. I think the Bob Hamilton technician was trying to be as helpful as possible but the work we needed done was beyond his area of expertise. We'll likely stick with our tried & true plumber in the future as we know he is very straight about what he can and cannot do.
Description of Work: We purchased the coupon for a main sewer line clean out. When the technician arrived, our conversation and some subsequent tests he did brought us to the conclusion that cleaning out the main line may cause more problems than solutions. So, he worked on our drain pipe from the washing machine which was periodically plugging.

Called for quick service before leaving town. Told man would be there in an hour. Called back after an hour and was told it would be two more hours. Complained and they sent someone in about 30 minutes. Guy came said a new valve and handle needed to be installed and said charge would be $450 plus dispatch fee of $89! Wouldn't take handle off valve to see of parts could be repaired. Just offered flat rate fee. I was flabbergasted that or would cost so much and told him so. When I said forget it, he lowered price and took off the dispatch fee. Then it took all of 20 minutes to do the repair. If I hadn't had to leave out of town, I would have gotten someone else. The work he did was excellent. But the cost was outrageous for the time spent and materials replaced. I will not use this company again unless I am really desperate.

I purchased a "Deal" for a $49 main drain cleaning Our house has had consistent main drain blockage issues since its purchase four years ago. I called Bob Hamilton and made an appointment. The repair person came out within the agreed-upon time -- the time window they provided, and snaked the drain, removing the blockage. The repair person cleaned the area they were using with a bleach solution, and wiping up all the mess (mostly dirty water and roots). I've paid up to $250 to other Angie's List highly rated companies for this service, with the last few costing around $99. I would recommend Hamilton and they're at the top of my list of companies to call for clearing a drain.

No drama. A straight forward job. The "C" in professionalism is for not masking off the area around the cleanout which resulted in dirty, smelly marks on the floor and wall.

The house I purchased had been vacant for a long time before we moved in. I noticed that the main line was backing up, so I bought the $49 mainline clean out Big Deal voucher. They came out the next day. The first rooter guy found roots but wasn't able to get them out. They sent the sewer cam guy who showed me the roots with his camera, but couldn't see an actual problem with the sewer (blocked by roots). They suggested the various options of replacing the sewer line. I asked that the rooter guy come back and clear the line before we talk about replacing the sewer. I wanted to see an actual issue besides just the roots to judge the severity for myself. Anyhow, line got cleared during the 2nd rooter visit. Camera guy came back to re-inspect the line. There was a very small offset in the main and roots were growing in at one of the seams (typical clay pipe). We haven't had any issues since. Overall, $49 was an excellent deal for the amount of time they spent. I would simply recommend to other Angie's-Listers to be sure and explore all options before automatically replacing the sewer.

Called for service for a washing machine drain backup, said we had Angies List coupon, and service man came as scheduled Dec 6. Service was performed for $243.29, less discount of $43.79, so total of $199.50 was charged and coupon could not be applied. We apparently had misunderstood "main drain". Invoice was e-mailed that said "kitchen sink drain cleaning" which was not done, only the washing machine line in the basement. On numerous occasions within a few days of service we contacted Bob Hamilton Plbg and got transferred to service manager, Paul. Explained issues with not being able to use coupon and also being charged double of what other companies would charge for the same service. After a few calls to Paul, he agreed to send corrected invoice and refund half of the service call payment we had paid by check. If we had known what the service call would cost (without being able to use the coupon)we would have used another plumber which charges less than $100.00 for the same service who we have used before. We feel we were charged roughly double what the going rate would be. Promises by Paul have not been followed through and recent phone calls have not been returned. Paul had previously stated that they have a satisfied customer guarantee, but unfortunately, that hasn't applied to us. In fairness, the service man did a terrific job and was professional in handling the work.

After receiving great service 2 years ago on our main drain, we decided to sign up for Bob's service agreement. The 1st issue came when they sent someone out to inspect the plumbing. The plumber missed a big issue because he chose not to go into the crawl space where half of our plumbing exists. We ended up having another plumber come out for a second look when experiencing pressure issues. The 2nd company found corroded water lines in the crawl space causing mold in the floor of our master bath. Needless to say, we chose to stick with the 2nd company for repair. The 2012 AC/Furn checks went ok; Fall 2013 furnace check not so well. Scheduling was handled poorly. The techs called an hour prior to the appt time saying they were on their way, forcing us to resched. 2nd attempt, a plumber came instead. 3rd resched, the tech cited an issue that was not mentioned the prior year when checked (no damage). When we told Bob's about the poor service they showed no concern. Too bad.

We went back and forth and they sent the wrong guy. They had one of their employees come and he was leaving the company soon and he tried to bid the job to me on the side. They were horrible and even admitted it. Nothing was resolved and hours were wasted. I found another plumber that fixed the issue and did the job for much less. They never followed up with me and I was done chasing them. Call somebody else.

The quality of the work was good. It was just too overpriced. They also charge to come out for an estimate. We do not plan to use Bob Hamilton again in the future.

We certainly do everything in our power to ensure all our customers are 100% satisfied, and this is no exception. There may have been a miscommunication about an estimate cost, as we do charge a dispatch fee - but no cost for estimates with our up-front pricing. As you were impressed with our quality of work, we would really like to keep you as a repeat customer. We will drop an exclusive coupon in the mail for you, and hope you’ll consider us in the future. The first person who came and performed the cleaning was fine. A second person came to look through the drain and to see if there were any problems. I was told that I would be able to see the drain condition using the computer that the plumber used. He ddid not let me look and proceeded to tell me to spend thousands on a new drain. He did not tell me about any serious condition other than the pipes were old. This I knew! I live in an old house but I have never had any main drain problems. No roots or anything of the kind. I was particularly concerned as the first plumber told me I would see the drain condition and that there would be no pressure to buy anything. I asked about a furnace, as mine is old, and the plumber began to complain about government regulation that would call for more efficient heating systems. I thought this inappropriate. For this, I would never call this company again.

They originally priced the work at $907.00. They refused to tell me their labor rates. Instead they said the rates were built into the standard pricing. Standard discounts were available from the Yellow Pages for approximately 10% or approximately $90 which got the price down to $817. I had to refuse the work and they quickly came back to do the work at $500. I was not happy with this price either but felt I was stuck and agreed for them to do the work. The work took approximately one hour. I later priced the two valves at True Value Hardware for approximately $30.
Description of Work: Replaced two standard shot off valves. One was the main shut off valve which required turning off the water at the meter.

Anthony and partner arrived exactly as promised. They inspected one tub, one toilet and one sink. It appeared as if the tub drain, which was the biggest problem, was installed many years ago in a substandard manner. They immediately provided an estimate and I authorized work to start. The drain was under a limited access crawl space. Once they started and Anthony wiggled back closer to where the tub drain, they discovered that the questionable piping was not being used after all and the problem had a simple fix. We canceled the major over haul...for now. The service was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. The price they quoted me for the anticipated work was fair. I'll definitely use them again.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it kind of a mixed bag. The guy they sent saw everything as a problem, regardless of why I called them here. I have a good friend of our family who does all of our heating and air conditioning work, but he tried to sell us on a yearly service contract. He kept pushing us to sign a contract and said all of our pipes had to be changed. I had to remind him of the reason I called him to our house that day. I had to pay considerably more than the Big Deal price. He wanted to move our furnace but I would not let him. He also tried to sell me a new furnace but I did not do it. He wanted some money before the total job was done and I had not even gotten an invoice. I did it because they were upsetting my wife. He said he would get me a detailed invoice the next day, but I finally got the invoice 10 days later after I called the company. They sent a second crew out that I liked better and they did a great job. I am not totally convinced that everything needed to be done. I am very suspicious of everything that happened, but they did tell me in advance of every job they did how much it would cost.
Description of Work: I used Bob Hamilton Plumbing + Heating + A/C + Rooter to replace some pipes in our house. They had to dig up tile work and concrete in our laundry room and put in new drain pipe. Then they had to dig up more pipe to run new drainage pipe to our yard.

We have used Bob Hamilton several times because they almost always come out the same day. But they will ony install their own products, and we have learned that they have about a 500 percent markup on them. Also they are very expensive even if you get the "service partner" discount. Finally, the last time, the guy came out and tightened the kitchen faucets and said that they were fine. They weren't, and they continued to leak. When we called them back, they said the problem was fixed, and they didn't send anyone back out. I will not use them again.
Description of Work: Called them because our kitchen sinks were leaking and water was running into the cabinets below and even dripping down into the basement ceiling. In our 2-year-old house.

He wanted to charge me the $510 price that his little book told him to charge people who are not in the $120 / year frequent user plan, which shaves 18% off the price, in addition to the $48 price just for dispatch to get him to the house. I also wanted him to install a valve above the floor so we don't have this same problem next time, but he wanted an additional $400 for it (also, right out of the price book). I told him no on the valve. He did give me the "frequent user price, plus an additional $25 off", but it still came to just over $450, where all of my friends on twitter and facebook said it should have cost $200 at most, with an extra $100-$150 to install the new valve, which I would have had no problem paying. Since he was there, and didn't want to wait to find another plumber on another day, I agreed to the $450 price for him to do the 20 min job. Hours later, I still smelt gas, so I called them back to get him (or someone else) back to my house to get that looked at. I'm still waiting for their call back on that. But overall, I was not happy with the price charged for the work provided. --- UPDATE: The plumber came back out to check out the gas smell. he couldn't find anything for about 15-20 min. Couldn't smell anything and couldn't find anything with his little blue spray bottle. Even with myself and two of my kids saying we can smell it. He was just about to call it when he finally found the leak and was able to tighten the connections in the two pipes to put a stop to the leak. --- UPDATE 2: I realized that I forgot to explain the grade that I gave on Punctuality. This isn't the dispatched plumber's fault, but rather the company's dispatch itself. They not only had my street name wrong (and I always spell it when I give my address to anyone for this specific reason), they also had the zip code wrong, which put the guy out 25 miles away from where he should have been, making him about an hour later overall than he should have been had dispatch had the address correct.
Description of Work: I called them to install a new range that was delivered the day before. Since I don't have a gas shut-off right there in sight behind the range, they could not do the install, which would have cost me $60. So I had to have them do the install, which consisted of shutting off the gas (which was in the ceiling of the basement, just below the kitchen floor. Not hard to find), install the range, turn the gas back on. A 15-20 min job.

I am pleased obviously. This was the second time in a year my kitchen sinks had backed up. The first time a plumber spent maybe 15 minutes and did the quick and easy fix. Marshall went into more depth and analysis and trouble shooting as to the cause of the problem. Even though I intended for only Job #1 to be done, I felt comfortable enough that Marshall was doing the best for me, I opted for Jobs #2 and #3 be done. When I need service again I'll be calling Bob Hamilton Plumbing and Marshall again.

My roommate was there and said everything went just fine. We had a little hiccup in scheduling as the first time the man was to arrive, he called to say that he was stuck on another job and would have to reschedule. He did show up on the next date and I understand that sometimes a job can take longer than anticipated. As long as I get a call to reschedule, that is no big deal to me.
