Fixin' Lawnmowers

My mower wouldn’t start and after calling several places, decided to take my mower to Brent. Luckily, it just needed a new spark plug. Got a tuneup and was able to pick up in one day. I saw on his page I’d need to have my own filter so I had that ready to go when I picked up. You will need to be able to load and unload your mower, if that’s a consideration for anyone reading this.

Brent (owner) was polite and professional. He ran into some problems as service on this machine was overdue. But he was tenacious and kept me informed all along the way. There's no doubt I would recommend him AND use him again in the future.

The owner was very astute in quickly eliminating potential issues and determining the root cause of the issue. The adapter needed to be ground off and I brought the mower home and did the grinding myself. They went above and beyond expectations by telling me where to find the parts information that I needed and giving me contact information for local parts stores.

Very satisfied, only took 1 day to perform work. Replaced only what needed to be replaced, friendly, knowledgeable.

Excellent service. I had expected there to be a delay in getting my mower back since I took it in at a busy time of year. No problem though. I got the mower back in 2 days. It was so clean I barely recognized it. I don't even see how it was running after I was shown the air filter that he took off and replaced.

This is a very small operation run literally out of a garage but frankly that shouldn't deter you in the slightest. This husband and wife duo are very hardworking, and from my interactions were extremely detailed oriented in their attempts to fix my issue with the my Honda surging. In the end, I was stunned at how much time they'd put into making everything as good as it could be and then to have it cost under $50 shocked me. This place was a 25 minute drive for me but for the value of service I received, I'll continue to make that trip in the future.

Brent was very nice, and easy to work with. I called to arrange a time for him to pick up the lawnmower, and once it was done, he called back in a very timely manner (about a week). Mower has been working great since then.

I had over lubricated my mower before going out of town. When I returned, it would not start. Both husband and wife work in this business. She diagnosed it immediately said it would be done in a few day. Right on schedule, runs great and price came in 1/3 low than estimate. Great honest folks.

Tuned up, changed oil, sharpened blade and repaired. He also gave some very good advice and tips on the care and maintenance of the lawn mower that will help in the future

We originally took our lawn mower to Nuts and Bolts for repair after it shut off and failed to restart while mowing one day. After 2 weeks of waiting and several different guesses at what the issue might be without an actual diagnosis, Nuts and Bolts finally got back to us and told us that because we had used premium gas in our mower we had corroded the valves in the engine and ruined the engine beyond repair. We decided to get a second opinion and went to Brent. After 3 days with our mower Brent called us back and said he had found the issue. The carburetor had a small crack in it and needed to be replaced. He had researched out the cheapest options for replacement carburetors and even offered to go pick up the carburetor for us for a small $10 fee, more than fair and very much appreciated. Thanks to Brent our 32 year-old mower is still running strong! Brent got back to us quickly, accurately diagnosed the issue, had very fair pricing and saved us from having to buy a new mower! We are so appreciative.

Service went very well. Contacted Brent and he was able to take mower in immediately with approximately a two day backlog. Mower was fixed promptly and Brent was very helpful in providing tips when I picked up the mower.

Brent does a great job. I never recognize my mower when he is done because it looks like a brand new mower and runs perfect. He also has added some nice touches of providing a folder with the receipt and a reminder to check the oil, and has put a sticker on the mower so I remember who to call for maintenance next year. Very fair cost for the service provided.

I had a issue where the mower would start up but would die after a few seconds. Talked with Brent over the phone about the issue. Brought it to him and he was professional and concurred that it was the carburetor. He rebuilt the carburetor and completed the annual service on the mower within 3 days. The mower runs great and I will use him again if i have any issues with it.

I took the mower to Fixin Lawnmowers on a Friday afternoon around 1:00. It hadn't been used in two years, so I wasn't hopeful that we would be able to get it started. They not only started it, but did the tune-up for me the same day. I was able to pick it up by 4:30. It was working and looked just as new as the day I bought it.

I had them tune up my lawn mower and my dog had also done a number. They fixed everything and my mower works great. They were very friendly and will definitely use them again.

. Brent picked up our lawnmower and took it to his shop. He performed all the above plus they cleaned it up so I almost didn't recognize it! He delivered it back to me as well I am especially pleased to recommend them as they are a small "Mom and Pop" operation. I will definitely use Fixin' Lawnmowers in the future and will recommend them to anyone!

Brent is very detail oriented. He gave the lawn mower a total tune up and sent it back as clean as the day it was purchased!!! Very quick turn around. He is definitely my contact for small machine repair. Don't hesitate to ask if he can fix something, he probably can.

I called Brent on 08/13 to talk about why my lawn mower would die after it got hot. He exampled in detail that it could be the armacher which is something that stops the engine when it gets hot. I asked if I could bring it over the next day and he said fine. However, I surprised him and decided it was more convenient for me to bring it that night. He said he had gone in for the night but his wife would go ahead and wait for me. He just lives a few blocks away. I was so grateful as Brent and Sherry have always been very friendly and accommodating. Brent called me on Thursday and was baffeled as he couldn't get it to start and wanted to know if I had a price limit. I told him it started for me and that I really loved my mower. On Saturday afternoon he called and told me it was ready. But, a few minutes later he called back to tell me no it wasn't. He was not happy with how it was running after all and thought he better rebuild the carb (which he mentioned back in March of 2012 on my initial visit). I was impressed he cared about his customers and takes pride in his work. On Monday he called and said it was ready to come get. When I picked it up he explained all that he did. Fixin' Lawnmowers - Brent and Sherry - are very organized and professional. They have converted their garage into a 'mini' repair shop. He requires a $25.00 deposit which is then deducted from your final total. On my initial repair with him back in March of 2012, he provided me a folder to keep all detailed receipts and any and future paperwork. He also includes tips on safety and how to maintain and treat your lawn mower for better performance. He gave me back the old parts. They are very thorough and honest. Plus the 'turn around' is much quicker than any retail repair. I have and would highly recommend Fixin' Lawnmowers for my lawnmower issues. I also know Brent does various other handy and repair work but have yet to call him for any. I will when the need arises...:)

Brent came to the house very quickly. We appreciated him coming to us the same day I called him. He charged $35.00 to come out and take a look. He said the carburetor either a.) needed to be replaced or b.) needed a rebuild. My husband said, "ok, but call us before you do either so we know how much it will be." Three days later he called and said he had rebuilt the carburetor and he would be by to install it. Cool. I really needed my mower! After installing the rebuilt carb, and intake gasket I could hear from inside the house the mower sounded pretty rough. After about 45 minutes he knocked on the door and asked me if I wanted to take it around to test it. "I never drive someone else's mower", he said. I went out and started it. I sounded terrible, belching black smoke. "Take it around", he said. I tried going out into the yard..cough...belch..then I tried to engage the blade. The mower practically went into a seizure and Brent told me I needed to adjust my choke. Here's the thing: I may be a woman but I do know basic things about an engine. I truly resent when someone thinks they can lie to me. Whether it's because I'm a woman and male mechanics think it's ok to tell me anything or mechanics just think they can say something doesn't work because of the user. Back to the "fix". I looked at him and said, "this isn't working." I went inside and waited for my husband to come home. When he did I said, "Mower sounds like crap, Brent thinks I don't know how to adjust a choke. I'm no longer dealing with him." Thirty minutes later, my husband came in and told me Brent told him he couldn't fix it. AND he still charged $100! I looked at the lawn. It was scalped. I asked my husband how that happened and he said "Brent drove it around." (But he never drives someone else's mower.) ? Now, I'm out $135 and still have a mower that wouldn't run. I took the mower to Merriam Hardware, where they said they would get to it in 2 weeks. Fine. I don't have a working mower now, what's two more weeks. When I went to pick up the mower, Ray Masters, owner, said that whoever "rebuilt" my carburetor left out the MAIN JET!! I may be a woman but I do know that you need those jets working. AND not missing altogether. While I think it's nice that Brent puts a smiley face on all of his paperwork and such and loves to remind everyone that he's a Christian that doesn't mean he knows how to build carburetors. I've never left a bad review on Angies's List and I HATE that I have to now.

I called Fixin Lawnmowers on Saturday when my lawnmower died while mowing my lawn. He stated he would call back on Monday to see what was wrong. He called on Monday and immediately came over to check my lawnmower. It is now fixed and I appreciate his prompt response.

He did a really nice job diagnosing and repairing my gasoline powered push mower for a reasonable price. Service was fast -- 24 hour turnaround. (I did deliver and pick it up myself.) The mower was also thoroughly cleaned.
