About us

Father and Sons Home Painting Services has been in business since 1984 and we have had the same phone number for 27 years. We do both interior and exterior home painting. We are family-owned and operated and I consider our painters to not only be great painters but great people. We have painted several thousand homes in Johnson Co. and surrounding area. We also have two carpenters and do a very professional job with removing the rotten wood and replacing it with new. We carry both Workman’s Compensation and General Liability insurance (Most painters carry only General Liability) and are happy to provide them to all of our customers during our bid proposal. We give a written warranty on all of our painting services. I believe we have the best long term follow-up in the business based on the amount of repeat customers that we have. We have a company motto and it is as follows: It is our personal goal to accomplish all work with the least disturbance to your home and your family. It is our personal goal to accomplish all work, being as prompt as possible with the highest quality work being given to your project. It is our strong point to be the cleanest painters you will encounter, both during the project and during the final cleanup. I believe we have been with Angie’s List since they first entered Johnson Co. In addition, we have a Handymen Service that is listed on Angie's List. It is called Rent A Handyman and you can find it in your monthly booklet. When you call our office you will reach me, David. I handle the phone most of the time. Great.
Description of Work: M. David Rodlund showed up to give us an estimate to spruce up the east side of our house, to include: replace all of the vertical batten boards, multiple sections of siding, and painting top to bottom. The week earlier we had gotten 2 estimates of $6,000 and $7,000 from other companies. As David was sizing up the project he noticed where we had replaced a section of siding on our own a year earlier. He then proceeded to take 10 minutes to both advise how to deal with the remaining water-damaged areas, and how to most efficiently replace all the batten strips. It was 10-minute talk that was equal parts instruction and motivational pep-talk. I don't fully understand why he took this approach with us, but I do know that his generosity and integrity saved us a lot of money --after working pretty much from sun-up to sun-down 4 weekends in a row, my wife and I recently completed the project completely on our own, and it looks great. Was very punctual on arriving and giving the estimate to repaint the exterior of our house. There was wood rot that needed to be fixed and he never mentioned that at all. The estimate of the amount of paint needed was less than half of what was actually needed. Lower price than others but because of overlooking obvious needs.

This service was first on the spot to give an estimate, arranged to begin painting within a week, and started on time. It was a real plus that the repairs to sill, fascia, and siding were included in the estimate, and we did not have to contract separately to get that done. Promptness, punctuality, and politeness were A+. The price was right in line with what we had paid to have the house painted before. Power-washing was not included in the estimate, which was a good thing with the kind of siding this house has, but I'm not sure that the preparation cleaning was as thorough as I would wish before painting. I had to ask to have the shutters removed from the house before they were painted. Overall an excellent job, and the house looks good.
Description of Work: A rotted sill, fascia, and siding were replaced. Exterior of house, trim, shutters, and doors were painted.

They were prompt, professional, and they were very nice and polite. I would definitely use them for other work; we have hired them for more already.

Dan was punctual, even slightly early. Pricing was reasonable for the areas of repair and painting that he had recommended.
Description of Work: Provided an estimate on exterior home painting with wood rot repair. Missed many areas of existing wood rot that would have required repaired prior to painting. Many of the areas were very obvious even to the inexperienced eye. Was not thorough when reviewing the exterior of the house for rotted areas and inappropriate window flashings that would have required repair prior to painting. Also gave a very long not understandable explanation re: number of paint coats that will be applied.
