Crew was on time, worked as a team to trim, cleaned up nicely. Quite satisfied. And happy the work was done the day before we got the 7" of wet snow. Tree handled the snow well.
Description of Work: Routine branch trimming to thin tree (30" oak), remove dead branches, and provide clearance over houses.

For those that aren't familiar with hedge trees, they are NOT what you would plant in your yard if you had a choice! Farmers planted them along fence rows and the trees natural "grow down to the ground" habit PLUS thorns made them passable fences for livestock. The wood is extremely dense (hard to saw) and is only good for fence posts (taking years to rot) and for burning in a closed home heating stove (pops and throws mucho sparks if burned in a fireplace). In any case, they were not something I was capable of handling, so I called certified arborist Rod Davis at Branching out and another certified arborist company for quotes. Both quotes came back reasonably close, but I had a better feeling about Mr. Davis, as he spent quite a bit of time inspecting the trees and planning his work prior to providing a proposal. The other company sent an emailed quote after a very brief walk-around. Another factor in chosing Mr. Davis over the other bidder was that he would be doing the actual work along with his men, versus turning it over to a crew after providing the bid. Mr. Davis' three man crew arrived exactly on time and began working, stopping only for a brief lunch. The young man who climbed high in the trees was VERY good at roping the to-be-cut branches, so they did not crash to the ground and damage any of the landscaping beneath. This level of care was greatly appreciated. Mr. Davis left the cut branches per my request, as a neighbor had family that burned such, but if he were to have taken it away he would have given it away, and has a "free firewood" sign on his truck. The branches which were not saved for firewood were put through a chipper, and at the end of the day Mr. Davis unloaded the chipper so that I could use the branches/leaves as a rough mulch outside my fence, saving me from having to purchase multiple cubic yards of mulch. It was an excellent experience, the crew was professional and polite, and given how hard they worked on such a truly thorny situation I felt the money paid was appropriate and well earned.
Description of Work: Raising the canopy height to 15-20 feet on a row of hedge trees along the back of the yard. Removal of volunteer trees out past the fence.

They were excellent with clean up. They removed everything off my deck so nothing got damaged. I have a lot of landscaping in my backyard and they never broke a thing. They had to rope the limbs down. I liked them and I would use them again.
Description of Work: I have 5 huge honey locust trees and they trimmed all of them.

This is the second time I've contracted with owner Rod Davis to prune all my mature trees. The first time was approximately 3 to 4 years ago. Rod does not wear damaging spikes or spurs when climbing live trees. He arrives as promised. Rod explains what needs to be done to maintain a healthy tree and answers questions. After the initial site visit, Rod promptly emails a written work description and price estimate for the work we discussed. Rod does an excellent job of cleaning up the site when finished. My neighbors commented on how nice the trees looked when Rod was finished. I have lived here 20 years and early on had hired a couple of tree services, (prior to Branching Out) that were horrible. "Branching Out" is the only service that I trust to prune my trees correctly.
Description of Work: Removed dead limbs. Removed low hanging limbs above house roof. General pruning. Cabled two Sycamore tree limbs together to make them more stable in wind.

Everything was great. Rod emailed me the bid, which was quite a bit lower than the others I obtained... and he beat his own estimate of when he could be out to do the work. They removed all the broken limbs, even raked up and picked up several smaller branches that I never expected they would pay any attention to. Will use them again in a heartbeat, have gotten another bid to do some easy crown raising and more difficult work trimming a very large tree away from the neighbor's house.
Description of Work: Trimmed and removed broken, down, and damaged limbs after one of the recent snowstorms.

Rod was able to finish our job in only two days. We had many trees to be trimmed some as high as 50 and 60 feet. I was impressed with how safe he was and how even those branches hanging over our house never came close to hitting our house. I saw trimmers up the street hanging onto tree limbs and leaning out to cut limbs. Rod never left his safety harness and I was very glad that I chose him. Everything was spotless as he left and if the trees weren't cleared out so nicely you wouldn't know he had been there. All of this at a price that was better than most of the other quotes and he was a man of his word when he finished. I would tell anyone to give him a call if you need your trees taken care of. His knowledge was impressive.
Description of Work: We have a large lot with many trees. There were many dead limbs and limbs on or near our house. Many of the trees were 40 and 50 feet in the air. They are now all safe and cleaned out.

It was tough finding someone to come out for such a small job. Rod went above and beyond, even for my little job. He was nice, professional, he called me back timely, and he showed up when he said he would. He scheduled me when he had another job in the area so I had to be flexible to get him to come out for that price. That is very understandable as it isn't worth a special trip out for such a small job.
Description of Work: He removed some tree limbs that I had cut down myself.

The way he goes about his work, it's almost like he is a perfectionist because it is done so well. Everything is done very well and he pays close attention to detail. Their only downfall was their price. He is kind of pricey but the work is very well done. He is a certified Arborist. We would use him again in the future if we needed to.
Description of Work: They trimmed a tree and they also took a tree down.

He is very responsive and he calls back quickly. He does not use any electric tools, he does it all by hand and is extremely clean. He completely cleaned up after himself. From my prospective, he is very inexpensive. You can't even tell that he was here when he is finished except for the trimmed trees. Rod is golden.
Description of Work: He trimmed my trees in the front and removed some dead bushes from the back.
