We are on a little plan with them where they charge $99 quarter. They come out 4 times a year and if you need them to come out any other time, they'll come out free of charge. Generally they are professional when they come over. It is pretty easy to schedule with them. I guess the one issue that I had with them was that they come once a quarter and they spray the outside and they remove all the cobwebs from the back porch, front porch, all around the house and sometimes they'll come right before it rains and so their visit was totally canceled out because of the rain. And sometimes they won't clean all of the cobwebs out from around the house.

They come every 6 months and if I have any problems before they come again they will come and spray again for free with no hesitation. Thanks

Alterra Pest Control provides quarterly pest control services to our home. They are professional and personable. They usually knock on the door to let us know they've arrived. Fairly unobtrusive. Always ask if there is any particular problem inside the house in case we need inside service. Inside and outside are covered in the quarterly fee of $99. I would recommend Alterra to anyone who prefers to have someone else deal with the bugs. They also treat the yard during the spring and summer for no-see-ums, mosquitoes, etc. If there is ever a specific problem, they will come out additionally at no extra charge, usually within 24 hours, sometimes same day depending on when they're called.

Alterra is very responsive and extremely good about re-treatments in between quarterly visits if bugs are still a problem. They have never hesitated to send a service provider out immediately when we have issues.

So far so good. Ants & other insects have disappeared at this point. They said if we see anymore to call them back & they would come back out.

They are convenient. Free call back. Affordable price compared to others.

My initial impression was based on on both techs looking like they were still in high school. However the lead fellow was thorough in his presentation and answered my questions the same. Yet I remain very much undecided about continued business with this company. I resent the apparent trend by service companies in general for "subscribed" services that include an early termination penalty and/or auto renewal agreements by default, i.e. cancellation must be initiated by the customer. The fact we agreed to try this company was circumstantial. I was out of town when the salesperson canvassing our neighborhood made contact with my wife. She called me on the phone (in Colorado) and, because we had unintentionally allowed our annual service arrangement with a previous exterminator to lapse, I agreed to proceed. In hindsight, I recognize this was laziness on my part, knowing it would take greater effort to call our past provider with whom we have no issues. My son arrived home while the techs were still here and he mentioned he had seen a couple roaches in one of the bedrooms upstairs. Only because I mentioned this did the tech provide adhesive traps of the same variety you'd get at the local hardware store. Much of Alterra's sales literature promotes their willingness to return at no charge - providing our contract is in force, that is - to treat any pests covered. Naturally this was true from our previous provider though I didn't feel the same sense of "hit or miss." Not to mention they would return without requiring us to be under contract. I also remain unconvinced that any extermination can be complete without ever entering the home, as this company claims. And, after reading other reviews here on Angie's List, I'm disappointed at Alterra's lack of certification such as for termite inspections or other pests. I answered in the affirmative that I would use this company in the future, only because there was not a choice of Maybe. I will give them the benefit of the doubt though it's hard to overlook some of the shortcomings just identified.

I don't think we were happy with that. They've always done what they said I just don't know that what their doing is working. They've always been good and professional I just don't know if their staff or their treatment works for us.

The two technicians that came were friendly and professional. They arrived right on time, explained what they would be doing, and answered questions that I had. When they treated for spiders, they removed all the cobwebs/egg sacs around my front entry and other places where they were prevalent. Overall, I was very satisfied. I think their service is a little higher than competitors, however they do have a guarantee that they will come back as often as necessary between scheduled treatments to take care of any pests we might see...so if the treatment takes care of all the critters, the it is worth the few extra dollars for the odor-free environmentally friendly product they use.

We signed a contract with Alterra a year ago and received pest control treatments every 3 months at $95/treatment. When the last treatment was finished and paid for, I told the guy we wouldn't be continuing with them because they don't offer termite inspections with their visits. To us it's important to make sure we stay termite free. Anyway, when I called to let them know we were seeing spiders and wasps, they wouldn't return because we were canceling treatment in the future. We paid $95 for a treatment that clearly didn't take care of the pest. They will tell you they will return and spray again if we see anything but because we cancelled before the next treatment in July, they won't return. Once again very poor customer service!!! Very sad because all the guys that were ever at our home were so nice and professional. In my opinion that's not a way to get a business up and running. Had they come back out, when they got their termite license I would've considered them. $95 per treatment is very high and it's funny how they offered $79 when I decided to cancel!!

Great experience. Lee treated the areas we asked him to and avoided the areas we asked him not to treat. We have an old dog and didn't want her to get into anything. Though Lee assured us that after the treatment dried in about 15 minutes - it wouldn't be a problem. He explained that treating for pests may likely drive pests out of hiding - which was nice to know. They will come back and retreat if we ask them to. Lee did exactly what we wanted and was very diligent in the treatment of those areas. Removed spider webs and even wasp nests in places we didn't know we had them. Treated under side of raised deck. Very impressed with their overall service.
