Stack Painting made our house look great again! It was in bad shape (some siding rot, peeling, painting and trim replacement)...they did a great job every step of the way.... thank you Tristan for all your help!

Consumers benefit from the reviews of others whether it be positive or negative, so I am sharing my experience and opinion of what happened when I hired Stack Painting to paint the exterior of our house. First, we received several bids before deciding on a contractor. Stack Painting’s bid was one of the lower estimates we received. I asked the salesman Hal about the low price since we had other bids come in much higher. He explained that the owner had personally looked at our house and had 30 years of experience and was able to spot wood rot problems. Hal told us there could be a few small things come up, but it’s usually minor and we could feel confident in the estimate. So, we signed the contract and put down a deposit. The company started work on a Monday morning and within an hour told us the front of our garage which was stucco needed to be replaced due to wood rot found behind the molding. They gave us a bid of $12,000 to replace the front of the garage. We felt shocked and said we would need to get other bids before agreeing to have it replaced. We both left for work and by 2:00pm that day the entire painting crew had packed up and left, leaving a giant pile of wood and debris. All the trim on our house had been ripped off leaving damage to sections of siding and some holes in the exterior that were so big that water would come inside if it rained. The owner of the company told us almost the entire exterior (58 sheets of siding) needed to be replaced and gave us an estimate of $32,000 to complete the job, which was almost 4 times the amount of our original bid. We were stunned and felt very vulnerable. In our opinion we were having to make a decision in a hurry, and this made us uncomfortable. We decided to get other opinions. Four other contractors had different opinions about what needed to be done ranging from replacing 15 sheets to 26 sheets of siding. With this information, we asked the owner to give us some other solutions because coming up with $32,000 was not an option. The owner said there were no other options. We asked if the work could be done in stages over a few years’ time, but the owner said no. When we said we felt like we were being held hostage until we came up with the money, the owner raised his voice at us. At that point we said we would be moving forward with another contractor. In our opinion it seemed suspicious to have an estimate quadruple in price and there not be any other options at all. We have asked for our deposit back, but it has not been returned. Note: we were warned by the owner that we would be sued for defamation if we posted a negative review and in our opinion this is unprofessional.

Stack painting just completed our house and did an amazing job. From the original quote to the final walk through, they were professional and prompt. The crew that painted the house were always respectful and accommodating. One thing I really enjoyed is that not one person smoked or cussed while working at our house and that shows good quality painters. Thank you all!

Hosted 7 estimates and selected Stack, not the cheapest however Tom Stack seemed very ethical and knowledgeable about the business. First strike was telling me my house was power washed while I was home all 7 days and nobody was seen on either of my cameras. Second strike was telling me that my columns needed to be replaced and including that in the estimate but then to have the Supervisor tell me that our columns were so rotted, he could not nail to it. I advised that the bid included tearing out the old ones and rebuilding them....later tells me he was not going to charge me for "building new ones since the wood was expensive". The pillars were constructed very poorly. All of the knots in the wood have seeped through the paint. Strike three, back door never painted....when advised, he answered, "well the door was locked". Final strike, adding $2,150 to the final bill after I agreed to the written estimate from the President. Since this time, with NO Exaggeration, I have had 7 residents and 1 landscaper approach me for advice on the painting company I used as they were looking for a quality painter. If each job estimates to $8k, I hope the trade-off of $2,150 was worth giving up $56k in work. Very disappointed and as I advised the supervisor at my home, I will not recommend this company.

I'm generally pretty worried about hiring painters out due to past experiences, but Tom and his team at Stack Painting completely changed that for me. Their speed and quality of work blew me away. They found issues that the previous home owner tried to cover up, which led to more cost than the original quote but they communicated with us the entire time. I was never "surprised" by anything. I'm so happy with the finished project. This was a massive job and they got it done quicker than I could have ever imagined. Do yourself a favor and hire them for your next job, regardless of what it is. You won't be disappointed.

Tom’s team just painted inside and out, walls, ceilings, cabinets, trim...and did some serious wood rot repair...now they’re family! Looking forward to having them back. 😊😎🍀🛠 🎨

Great. They explained how the wood rot problem happened. Showed us how they planned to repair it so it shouldn't happen again. Helped us pick out paint colors and helped us get our home looking great and ready to sell.

Aside from the frustration of waiting for three dry days in a row in order to accomplish the power washing and sealing of shingles, everything went much quicker than we would have thought possible. The crew was outstanding, diligent to detail, cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day and even paid attention to keeping the gate closed so our dog wouldn't get out. Our home looks terrific! We definitely would hire Stack Painting again and highly recommend this company.

No significant construction project is without hiccups and delays. Even with Stack Painting. The difference is Tom Stack is there to adjust and do everything he can to keep the project moving and provide very high quality outcomes. He answers texts, emails and cell calls promptly and at all hours of the day and night. His crews almost worked too long some days but you cant complain when they also show up for an after hours call. Tom has exacting standards. They are as high as yours or higher. He also has great ideas that come from his experience. Stack's price reflects their work. As we learned from the first person we hired sometimes less does actually cost you more.

The estimator was quick to respond and thorough. However, there were several items included in our contract that were not done by the crew until we reminded them and showed them the contract. They broke one storm window and at first said it was our fault, but then later replaced it. The contract includes a 5 year warranty and they told us to contact them halfway through the warranty so they could come back and recaulk and do any needed touch ups. We first contacted them in February to do this work, and now it is November, and they still haven't done the work. They are VERY slow to respond to requests. Overall, we feel their quality of work was very good, and the house still looks good two years later. But their service would discourage me from using them again.

The work went well. I did have some concerns that I pointed out to the workmen (a few additional places on the exterior of my home that I felt might need additional caulk, I am VERY particular) and they were very receptive to my request and did what I asked without any questions. A few of the places that I thought needed caulk actually didn't. They explained to me the reason why those particular areas were intentionally left open. I am familiar with this type of work, but I also looked up their answers online and they were correct! They were very knowledgeable.

Painters did a very professional job and great clean-up. They worked fast and furious and got the job done in 1.5 days. My 12 year old home looks like new!!

I highly recommend Stack Painting from my previous experiences. Previously they painted the exterior of my house. The high quality of workmanship and professionalism are the reasons I chose Stack Painting when I needed the interior of my house painted. The painters are particularly knowledgeable in the use of techniques to provide gorgeous surfaces including woodwork. Special care was taken to avoid roller marks on a two story wall exposed to direct sunlight. All of his workers were courteous and care was taken to protect all of my belongings.

Mr Stack was on time for all our appointments and his crew was polite and worked very hard to make me happy. the first paint color i picked out was too bright and Mr Stackhelped me pick out a color that was beautifull and I am an elderly single lady and he could have very easly taken advatage. but in stead didn't charge me for the change. When we painted the interior he helped me pick out the color that look fantastic with my decor he has a great eye for design. There was a little crack in mt celling and when I called him they were back out to fix it in 2 day's. I tell all my senior and younger to call Mr Stack if they want a fair price and good service. I highly recomend Stack Painting and look forward to the boys starting on my roof

I was very pleased with the professionalism of the company. The crew was there on time, cleaned up their mess, and very polite to me and my family. My house has never looked so good. I was also pleased to discover they do roofing also.

The carpentry was done with bad wood, and bad joinery so that within weeks the boards were pulling apart. The stain used on the deck trim began peeling immediately. I called repeatedly and was promised a crew to repair their damage, but the crew never came. Stack also did stucco and painting for my next door neighbor. Screwed him pretty well, too. I finally got another painter after joining Angie's List, and got everything taken care of for $900.
